Beloved Staten Island priest plucked to be incoming Archbishop Ronald Hicks’ right-hand man

I'm low-key surprised about Fr. John McCarthy getting appointed as Archbishop Hicks' right-hand man 🤔. I mean, he's only been a high school chaplain since 2015, and now he's gonna be secretary to the archbishop? It's like he just graduated from seminary 🎓🙏. But at the same time, Principal Father Reilly said he's an "institution" to the school, which I guess means people really love him there 😊. I'm curious to see how this new team dynamic will play out – it could be interesting 💡. And let's be real, we'll have to wait and see if they actually get along 👥.

so this is what happens when u have an awesome high school chaplain turn into some kinda archbishop right hand man 🤯 like whats gonna change for the kids at that school tho? they're always talkin bout how much fr mccarthy means to them but now he's outta there and off doin somethin new...guess we'll just have to wait and c if this partnership works out or not 👀 i mean nothin bad about it or anythin, but can't help feelin a lil bad for the kids who were always lookin up to him as a mentor 🤕

So I just read that Fr John McCarthy is getting a big promotion and I gotta say, it's not surprising he got the nod from Cardinal Dolan 🤔. McCarthy's been doing some amazing work as chaplain at St Joseph by-the-Sea High School for like 10 years now, and he's really made a name for himself as someone who truly cares about his students.

I mean, think about it - this guy is taking on so much more responsibility than before, from helping the new archbishop get settled to providing support to other clergy members. It's clear that Dolan saw something special in him and is willing to invest his trust in McCarthy.

Now, I'm curious to see how well McCarthy will work with Archbishop Hicks - it'll be interesting to watch their dynamic unfold, especially since Hicks comes from a different background. Can they make this unlikely duo work? Only time will tell!

🤔 I'm intrigued by this appointment - on one hand, you've got an experienced and beloved chaplain in Fr. John McCarthy, who has clearly made a huge impact on the community at St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School. It's no surprise that Principal Father Michael Reilly thinks he's an "institution" to the school! 🤝 But then you add in the fact that this is essentially a promotion for someone who's been doing the job as a chaplain for 10 years... it feels like a bit of a lateral move, you know? 😐

I'm also curious about how Fr. McCarthy will adapt to this new role and whether he'll be able to bring his same level of enthusiasm and dedication to supporting Archbishop Hicks. Will he be able to provide the kind of guidance and support that's required for someone in such a high-profile position? It's clear that Cardinal Dolan saw something special in him, but only time will tell if it translates to this new role 💭

I'm not surprised to see Fr. John McCarthy get this big role - he's always been super dedicated to his students at St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School 🤝. I mean, four classes on top of everything else? That's dedication! 💯 But now that he's taking on this new role as Archbishop Hicks' right-hand man, it'll be interesting to see how they balance their work together... especially since they're both really respected figures in the community 🙏.
