A Long Game by Elizabeth McCracken review – here's how to really write your novel

I'm so down for this new kind of craft book 🤩! I mean, who needs all that cheerful motivational stuff when someone's gonna come along and tell it like it is? Elizabeth McCracken is speaking truth to power and giving writers permission to be their messy, imperfect selves 💁‍♀️. And can we talk about how refreshing it is to have a writer who's not afraid to get real about the struggles of writing? Like, who hasn't felt that crushing self-doubt and needed someone to tell them they're not alone 😩. McCracken's approach feels so much more honest and relatable than all those formulaic writing tips we've been fed in the past 📚. I'm definitely adding this book to my reading list ASAP, can't wait to dive into her irreverent style and get a kick in the pants 💥!

So, I'm really loving this new book by Elizabeth McCracken - it's like she's speaking straight to all of us writers who feel like we've been misled by those cheesy writing books 🤣. The way she takes on all the conventional wisdom and just throws it out the window is so refreshing... but what I love most about her approach is that it's not about being negative, it's about being honest. Like, who actually knows how to write a book? 🤔 And her idea of harnessing self-loathing as a writing strategy sounds kinda genius? But, for me, the thing that really stood out was how she talks about embracing your own unique voice and vision - I mean, how many books are out there telling you what to do instead of showing you how to figure it out yourself? 📚👀
