“Abolish ICE” Is More Popular Than Ever. How Will Democrats Drop the Ball This Time?

Protesters in Minneapolis have taken to the streets, demanding an end to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency's brutal tactics. The Trump administration's recent deployment of 2,000 federal agents on a racist crusade against the city's Somali population has sparked widespread outrage.

At the forefront of this movement is the slogan "Abolish ICE." Once a fringe demand, it now carries significant weight as Americans from across the country rally behind it. For the first time, more people support abolishing ICE than oppose it, with 46% of respondents in a recent poll saying they back the measure.

However, establishment Democrats have been slow to respond. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has called for ICE to "get out" of the city, but softened his tone when interviewed on Fox News. Senator Chris Murphy and Representative Darren Soto have also distanced themselves from the idea, instead advocating for incremental reforms that fail to address the core issue.

If Democrats do not take a stronger stance against ICE, they risk losing their credibility with voters. This is not just about politics; it's about upholding the democratic promises of the Constitution and defending human rights.

The shift in public opinion on abolishing ICE is significant. The poll results show that even moderate Americans are now behind this measure, suggesting that "Abolish ICE" could become a mainstream position. It's time for Democrats to take note.

To truly win, Democrats must be bold and take a clear stance against authoritarianism. This means supporting legislation that would dismantle the agency or significantly limit its powers. Anything less would be a cop-out, allowing them to continue perpetuating the same incrementalist policies that have failed them in the past.

The time for compromise is over; the time for courage is now. The lives of people under federal occupation in cities across the country depend on it.

I'm so down with this protest movement in Minneapolis, you feel? 2k federal agents deployed on a city's Somali population is just not right 🚫👎 ICE needs to be held accountable for their brutal tactics and I'm loving how people are now backing the "Abolish ICE" slogan. It's crazy how public opinion has shifted, even moderate Americans are now behind it 💪.

But what's up with the Democrats being slow on the draw? They need to take a stronger stance against ICE or risk losing credibility with voters 🤔. We can't keep playing politics as usual and expect things to change. The Constitution and human rights are at stake here 🌎.

I'm all for Democrats being bold and taking a clear stance against authoritarianism 💥. It's time for them to stop compromising and start fighting for real change 🔥. Anything less is just a cop-out, allowing them to continue perpetuating the same incrementalist policies that have failed them in the past 😒. We need courage now, not compromise 🙅‍♂️.

I'm not surprised the establishment Dems are slow to respond, tbh 🤷‍♂️ It's like they're still trying to play nice with Trump and his ilk 🙄 They need to remember that the ppl are getting sick of all the incremental reforms and just want real change 💪 If they don't take a strong stance against ICE, they'll lose credibility for sure 🚫 And let's be real, the time for compromise is SO over 💥 It's time for some real courage and leadership 👊

I'm so done with the way Democrats are handling this ICE situation 🙄. I mean, I get that they're trying to avoid conflict, but come on, taking a stronger stance is NOT going to hurt anyone! It's about standing up for human rights and upholding the Constitution 💪. And another thing, what's with all these incremental reforms? That just feels like more of the same old status quo 🤔. We need bold action, not half-measures! The fact that 46% of people now support abolishing ICE is huge, but it's not going to happen if Dems don't get on board ASAP ⏰. And can we please talk about how ridiculous it is for some of them to distance themselves from the issue when they're already getting hammered by critics? 🙃

🌟 Can you imagine living in a city where 2,000 federal agents are patrolling streets just because of your skin color? 🤯 It's heartbreaking to think about how many ppl have been affected by ICE's brutal tactics. I'm loving the fact that ppl from all over the country are now standing behind "Abolish ICE" - it's like a wave of change is washing over our nation! 💧 I wish Democrats would take a stronger stance against ICE and show us they're not just talking the talk, but walking the walk 🚶‍♀️. It's time for courage, not compromise! 💪

ICE is literally sucking the life outta those communities 🤕 and it's crazy how much ppl are finally waking up to that fact! 46% supporting abolishment is like, a huge deal - I mean, we're seeing more support for this than opposition, which is wild 🌪️. But what's even crazier is how Democrats are playing it so chill 😴. Like, where's the fire? Where's the passion? We need our leaders to be bold and take a stand against these authoritarian tactics 💁‍♀️.

It's not just about politics; it's about our humanity 🤝. We're talking about people being treated like they're less than human because of their immigration status. It's time for Democrats to step up and show us that they care about the people, not just the power 💖. And honestly, I think this is an opportunity for them to rebrand themselves as the party of progress 🌈.

We need more leaders like Rep. Soto who are willing to take a stand 🗣️ and make some noise 🔊. And we need them now! The lives of people under federal occupation in cities across the country depend on it 🤝. Can't stress that enough 🚨.

ICE is literally ruining our communities 🤯. I remember when my aunt's brother got deported back to Somalia because of a minor traffic ticket, and she was living here with her kids. She had no idea what was going on or how to get them help. ICE just shows up out of nowhere and starts harassing people like they're animals. We need real change, not some watered-down reform that's just gonna let the system continue to fail us. The more people saying "abolish ICE" is being taken seriously, the more I'm convinced it's time for a complete overhaul 🚫💥

ICE is still super problematic 🤕. I get where Democrats are worried about being seen as radical, but holding a strong stance here is actually kinda key. Not only is ICE basically a racist agency, but they're also perpetuating inhumane treatment of migrants. If they don't show some serious courage on this issue, they'll be the ones looking weak.

🤦‍♂️ I'm so tired of politicians playing it safe when it comes to standing up for what's right! Abolishing ICE isn't just a fringe demand, it's about humanity and treating people with dignity 🌎💖. The fact that 46% of Americans now support abolishing the agency is a huge shift in public opinion, and it's time for Democrats to take notice 🔍.

We can't keep tolerating these brutal tactics being carried out by ICE, especially against vulnerable communities like Somali-Americans 🤕. It's not just about politics; it's about upholding our country's values of justice and equality 🌟. If Democrats want to regain credibility with voters, they need to be bold and take a clear stance against authoritarianism 💪.

It's time for courage over compromise 🔴💥. We can't keep living in a world where people are living in fear of being deported or harassed by federal agents 😬. The lives of those under federal occupation depend on it 🕊️. Let's see some real leadership from our politicians and demand the change we deserve 💖!

😊 The more I read about this ICE thing, the more my heart goes out to those Somali people living in Minneapolis. It's just not right that 2k federal agents are being sent in there like some kind of law enforcement squad to 'take care' of a community. Newsflash: communities don't need policing - they need support and understanding! 🤝

ICE should've been abolished years ago 🤦‍♂️. Politicians keeping mum on this issue makes me think they're more concerned with their own power than doing what's right. It's time for them to put their money where their mouth is, or else voters will start speaking louder at the polls 🗳️. We need bold leaders who aren't afraid to challenge the status quo and stand up for human rights 💪.

🤔 i'm so confused why democrats are being slow to respond about ice... don't they know that 46% of ppl support abolishing the agency now? 📊 shouldn't that be a big deal for them? 🤷‍♀️ and what's with the incremental reforms thingy... isn't that just gonna keep letting ice continue its racist actions? 💔 i feel like democrats are being super spineless about this one... 😕

I'm so done with politicians playing it safe 🙄. Abolish ICE should be a no-brainer, but Democrats are too scared to take a stand. If they're not willing to go all-in against an agency that's basically a human rights nightmare, then what are they even doing? 🤷‍♀️ The fact that 46% of people support abolishing ICE is a wake-up call for them. They need to be bold and take concrete action, not just talk about it. Incremental reforms are just Band-Aids on a bullet wound 💉. It's time for Democrats to show some real courage and take on the establishment.

OMG I'm literally shaking thinking about this ICE situation 🤯... like what's going on with our government? 46% of ppl now think abolishing ICE is a good idea?! that's insane! 🤷‍♀️ I mean I've been saying for ages that we need to dismantle these super powerful agencies and give more power back to local governments. It's all about the Constitution, baby! 📚 and human rights, duh! 💖

I'm also kinda disappointed in some of the Dem politicians who are being super meh about it. like come on, Jacob Frey, Chris Murphy, and Darren Soto - where's your fire? 😒 you guys need to step up and take a clear stance against ICE or risk losing those votes 🗳️.

I'm all for incremental reforms, but if that's not gonna cut it then maybe we should just go full-on abolition mode 🚫. I mean, the lives of so many ppl are at stake here. I just hope our leaders can find the courage to make some real changes 💪.

🤔 I'm telling you, this whole "Abolish ICE" thing is not just about ending their brutality, it's a slippery slope to total chaos. What if they just dissolve the agency and then who's gonna take care of all these people? It's like playing a game of Whac-A-Mole, where one problem gets solved but two more pop up in its place 🐜

And don't even get me started on the Democrats' slow response. They're all about pragmatism and compromise, but what if it's just a cover for their own lack of conviction? I mean, what really is going on behind closed doors? Are they working with ICE to take down these protests or are they just playing both sides against each other? 🤝 It's like they're trying to keep the status quo alive, even if it means sacrificing some of their own values.

We need people who are willing to take a stand and be bold. No more playing it safe; no more incrementalism. We need a revolution 💥, not just a whispering in the wind.

ICE is a total disaster 🚨😡👎, gotta take a stand against those brutal tactics 💪🏽💼. Democrats gotta be bold 🔥 and take a clear stance against authoritarianism 🤬, can't just sit back and let ICE keep wreaking havoc on innocent lives 😔. Need to support legislation that dismantles the agency or limits its powers ⚠️, anything less is a cop-out 🤦‍♂️. Time for courage 💫, not compromise 🤝. We gotta uphold our democratic promises 📜 and defend human rights 🌎, can't let ICE get away with this 😡. Moderate Americans are now behind abolishing ICE 👥, it's time for Democrats to take note 📰!

ICE is literally like the ultimate buzzkill 🙄, and I'm not surprised more ppl are behind abolishing the thing. Those mods just need to step up their game & take a clear stance against authoritarianism. Can't let the party's credibility go down the drain over some "incremental reforms" 😒, fam. It's all about being bold & taking risks 🤯... or else we'll be stuck with more of the same old BS 🤦‍♂️.

ICE has gotta go 🚫💥 I mean, 46% of ppl supporting abolish ICE? That's a game changer! 😮 I'm loving this momentum behind the movement 💪 It's about time Democrats stepped up their game and took a strong stance against these brutal tactics 👊 They can't just talk the talk, they gotta walk the walk too 💼 And yeah, it's not just about politics, it's about upholding our values and rights as Americans 🇺🚫

🙄 ICE is still around and people are finally speaking out 🗣️. Polls can be misleading but 46% is a decent chunk. Can't deny the Trump admin's racist crusade has pushed people to act 💪. Politicians, especially Democrats, need to step up their game 👊. "Abolish ICE" might seem extreme, but it's about time someone called out the injustices 🚨. The Constitution is clear: life, liberty, and justice for all 🌎. Anything less is a betrayal of that promise 💔
