AI is coming for collectibles next

AI-Powered Collectibles Are Coming - And They're Not Just For Kids Anymore

Imagine a world where your Funko Pop can have a conversation with you, or a baseball card becomes more than just a piece of cardboard. AI-powered collectibles are no longer the stuff of science fiction, and two startups, Olli and Buddyo, are leading the charge.

HeyMates is the brainchild of Olli, which aims to bring AI-driven chatbots into the world of collectible toys. These figurines come with RFID chips in their bases, allowing them to interact with each other when placed on a special stand. The company plans to launch its first batch of three figures - Einstein, Zara, and Chandler - later this year.

But Olli's focus is different from Buddyo's. While the latter wants to build a platform that complements existing collectibles, not replace them, Olli sees itself as the next step in creating AI-powered toys. The company aims to establish its own IP (intellectual property) and bring licensed characters into the mix.

On the other hand, Buddyo is taking a more collaborative approach. The startup uses an app that recognizes existing IP and pulls up a backstory and personality for each figurine. This allows users to give their character a name and explore their traits in greater depth. Buddyo's hybrid ChatGPT/Gemini AI stack also provides the option for full AI assistance, with plans to expand its capabilities further.

Both companies emphasize fun, lighthearted conversations with their AI avatars. However, Buddyo's system is designed to be more versatile, allowing users to create characters tailored to specific interests or hobbies.

The question on everyone's mind - will AI-powered collectibles disrupt the toy industry? Only time will tell. However, it's clear that both Olli and Buddyo are onto something exciting. Whether Funko, which has struggled of late, will take notice remains to be seen. One thing is certain, though: chatty collectibles are coming, and they're not just for kids anymore.

I don’t usually comment but I think it’s kinda weird that these companies are making AI-powered toys that can have conversations with you... like, what's the point of that? Are we gonna start collecting more than just the physical item itself? It’s already pretty cool to own a unique figurine or card, but do we really need it to have feelings too?

Just saw this thread about AI-powered collectibles 🤖💸... kinda weird, but also super cool! I mean, who wouldn't want a Funko Pop that can chat with you? 🤔 I'm more of an old-school fanboy myself, but I can see the appeal. Buddyo's approach seems pretty interesting - being able to customize your own character sounds like so much fun! 🎨 As for Olli, they're really pushing the boundaries here... wonder if this means we'll see AI-powered collectibles in all sorts of niches (e.g., anime, video games)? Guess only time will tell if these newbies can disrupt the toy industry 💪

🤯 I'm low-key excited about this AI-powered collectibles stuff but high-key worried it's gonna change the game and we'll lose the thrill of the hunt for rare ones 🎉👀 They say it's gonna be fun but what if it gets too real? We won't know our toys are just collecting data on us 🤖😳

AI-powered collectibles are gonna change the game! Can you imagine having a conversation with your favorite childhood character? 🤖 I remember when I was a kid, we used to spend hours talking to our Tamagotchis... those things were so much fun 😂. Now, these AI-powered Funko Pops and baseball cards are like something out of a sci-fi movie! Olli's idea is really cool, but Buddyo's app sounds super handy too 📱. I'm low-key hoping that these chatty collectibles will inspire some new franchises... maybe we'll get more animated series or even live-action shows? 🎥 Wouldn't that be awesome?!

OMG 🤯, can you even imagine having a convo with your favorite cartoon character? 🤔 it's like something out of a movie! I'm low-key excited about this new trend, but also kinda worried that my childhood faves will be replaced by these AI-powered toys 😬. But at the same time, I think it's dope that Buddyo is all about customization and letting users create their own characters 🎨. Olli's focus on licensed IP is cool too, especially if they can get some big-name franchises on board 🤑. Can't wait to see what this tech does to the toy game! 😃

OMG, can you believe this?! AI-powered collectibles are literally taking over our lives 💻👀! I'm low-key excited about the future of these techy toys 🤔. Buddyo's app sounds so cool, like a character creator on steroids 🎨. And Olli's Einstein figurine? Genius idea! Who wouldn't want to chat with their fave historical figure about quantum physics 🧠💬.

The question is, how will this change the toy industry? Will it make collectibles more interactive and fun for all ages, or just become another gimmick? One thing's for sure, I'm keeping an eye on these companies 👀. Maybe we'll see more AI-powered toys in the future? The possibilities are endless 🤯!

I'm low-key hyped about these AI-powered collectibles but also a bit concerned 🤔💸 I mean, imagine if your favorite childhood toy starts giving you weird or creepy answers... it's already a bit unsettling thinking about it 😅. On the other hand, Buddyo's idea of creating characters tailored to specific interests seems kinda cool 👍🏻. We're living in an era where tech is getting more advanced by the day so I guess AI-powered collectibles are just another thing we'll have to get used to 🤖😒

🤔 I think it's cool that these startups are trying to make AI-powered collectibles a thing! It sounds like Olli's approach could bring some new excitement to the market, but at the same time, Buddyo's more collaborative method might be a great way to engage users and create a sense of community around their toys. I mean, who wouldn't want a customized character that speaks to them? 🤖 Maybe it's not a replacement for traditional collectibles, but maybe it's just another way to bring people together over shared interests 😊. What do you guys think about the potential impact on the toy industry? 👀

I'm low-key excited about these AI-powered collectibles 🤔, but the idea of having a conversation with a Funko Pop seems kinda weird to me... like, what's next? Talking figurines on my shelf? 😅 Still, I gotta give it up to Olli and Buddyo for pushing the boundaries. The stand with RFID chips is genius - can't wait to see how this tech improves my collectible experience! 👍

I'm low-key hyped about these new AI-powered collectible startups 🤩! The idea of having a conversation with your Funko Pop or baseball card sounds like total magic 🔮. I mean, who wouldn't want to have a chat with Einstein or Zara? 😂 It's like they're taking the old-school collecting experience and merging it with the future of tech. Buddyo's hybrid AI system is so cool - creating characters tailored to our interests or hobbies? 🤔 That's like having a whole new level of personalization.

I'm also curious to see how this will change the way we collect and engage with toys in general. Will it become more of an experience than just owning something? 🎉 I think it's safe to say that these startups are onto something big, and I'm here for it! The toy industry is about to get a major upgrade 💥.

I'm kinda stoked about these AI-powered collectibles 🤖💥! I mean, think about it - we're living in a world where our stuff can talk to us, have personalities, and even evolve over time 💬🔮. Olli's approach is like, super futuristic, but also a bit mysterious 🤐... are these AI-powered toys gonna take over the toy industry or what? 😂 I'm curious about Buddyo's hybrid AI system too - it sounds like they're onto something cool with their app recognition and backstory feature 🔍💻. And can you imagine having a Funko Pop that can chat with you? That'd be lit! 🤩 But, at the same time, I don't wanna be one of those people who's all about collecting AI-powered stuff just because it's new tech 🙅‍♂️... I mean, what's the point if it's not bringing me any joy or value? Maybe these collectibles will bring back some excitement to the toy world and make it more interesting for a wider range of people 👀. Either way, I'm hyped about seeing how this whole thing plays out 🎉!
