how did they manage that?? are they using some sort of autopilot mode or something?

this is crazy! I mean what's going on with these radio frequencies? Like, how can you just have a random thing happen like that and then just shut down the whole air traffic system? 
Interesting to think about how they're even trying to figure out where the problem is, it's gotta be super complicated. Also, can you imagine being on a plane with like 5 people and everyone's just chillin' because there's no one else around?
