Airports across Greece suspend flights

Greece Grounds All Air Travel Amid Radio Frequency Disruptions

Flights at airports across Greece were cancelled en masse Sunday as officials struggled to pinpoint the source of a radio frequency issue that's left airspace largely empty. Authorities have taken the precautionary step of suspending all arrivals and departures, citing safety concerns.

Despite an apparent lack of air traffic in Greek skies, some flights were still managed, raising questions about how they were able to navigate around the disruption. Flight trackers paint a stark picture: an empty sky, with many routes largely unutilized.

In a statement, authorities confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the radio frequency issues was underway, and promised to lift restrictions once the problem had been resolved. For now, however, air travel remains severely curtailed in Greece.

omg what's going on in greece?? they're literally grounding all flights cuz of some radio freq issue ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ›ซ๏ธ i mean like what even is a radio frequency issue? is it affecting anyone on the ground or something? i'm no expert but it seems super weird that some planes were still able to fly around the disruption ๐Ÿค” how did they manage that?? are they using some sort of autopilot mode or something? ๐Ÿค– this whole thing just has me totally stumped tbh, can't wait for them to figure out what's going on and get air travel back to normal ๐Ÿ‘

Wow ๐Ÿ˜ฎ this is crazy! I mean what's going on with these radio frequencies? Like, how can you just have a random thing happen like that and then just shut down the whole air traffic system? ๐Ÿคฏ Interesting to think about how they're even trying to figure out where the problem is, it's gotta be super complicated. Also, can you imagine being on a plane with like 5 people and everyone's just chillin' because there's no one else around? ๐Ÿ˜‚

This is getting weird ๐Ÿค”. I mean, I'm glad no one got hurt, but seriously, how do you have a complete shutdown of air traffic without knowing what's causing it? It's like they're flying blind ๐Ÿ˜…. And yeah, it's convenient that some flights were still able to get off the ground, but what about safety? You can't just magically fix the problem and start flying again ๐Ÿšซ.

I'm not super concerned, though - we've seen these kinds of issues before (remember Japan's air traffic control outage a few years back?), and usually it gets resolved pretty quickly. Still, I'd love to see some more info on what's going on behind the scenes... are they still investigating? Is this just a one-time glitch or something more serious? ๐Ÿคž

OMG, this is crazy! I mean, I get it, safety first and all that ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. But seriously, how can they not pinpoint the source of the radio frequency issue? Like, come on, use some tech savvy to track it down or something! And now, flights are cancelled left and right... what about the economy, you know? The tourism industry is gonna get hit hard ๐Ÿค•. I guess they're just trying to play it safe, but still, can't they at least try to find a workaround instead of grounding all air travel? It's like, such an overreaction ๐Ÿ˜’. And btw, what even is the point of flight trackers if flights aren't actually flying?! ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ’จ

๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I'm kinda surprised they're grounding all air travel just because of some radio frequency issue... like, what's the worst that could happen? ๐Ÿค” I mean, it sounds like they've got everything under control, even if they don't know exactly what's causing it. And yeah, I see what you mean about flights still getting in and out - maybe they're just using a backup system or something? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Either way, I hope they figure it out ASAP so people can get back to flying! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ›ซ๏ธ

omg I'm literally so frustrated rn I have a meeting at 3pm but I don't know if it's even gonna happen ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ I was supposed to book my flight last week but the airline messed up and now I have no idea what to do ๐Ÿ˜ฉ anyway, this Greece thing is so weird... like how are flights still flying around the disruption? doesn't that kinda defeat the purpose of suspending air traffic? ๐Ÿค” not sure if i trust the authorities on this one though ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™€๏ธ fingers crossed they get it sorted out ASAP tho ๐Ÿ’•

๐Ÿšจ what's up with this?! ๐Ÿ˜‚ they're basically shutting down the entire air traffic system 'cause of some radio frequency drama ๐Ÿ“ป? i mean, i get it, safety first and all that, but come on... how are flights still getting off the ground despite everything being cancelled at airports? โœˆ๏ธ didn't anyone notice anything weird was going on? ๐Ÿค” it's like they were just kinda winging it or something ๐Ÿ’จ idk what the cause of this thing is, but i hope they get to the bottom of it soon 'cause a bunch of flights getting cancelled ain't exactly ideal for travelers ๐Ÿ˜’

omg can u believe this?! ๐Ÿคฏ i mean, i get it safety first and all, but like an entire country grounded? that's a lot of inconvenience for tourists and locals alike ๐Ÿ˜ฉ especially since the flights were basically flying around without any issue lol i wonder how many pilots are sipping coffee while their planes are flying by themselves... anyway, fingers crossed they figure out what's going on soon and can get air travel back up in the air ๐Ÿ›ซ๏ธ๐Ÿš€

Greece suspending all air travel is super weird considering how connected the world is nowadays ๐Ÿคฏ. I mean, I get it, safety first and all that, but come on, can't they just pinpoint the source of the issue or something? It's like a big game of "I'm not lost, I'm just experiencing radio frequency disruptions" ๐Ÿ˜‚. And what's with some flights still managing to fly around the disruption? That just raises more questions than answers, you know? ๐Ÿค”. On one hand, it's good that they're taking safety seriously, but on the other hand, it feels like a major inconvenience for all those affected by the travel cancellations ๐Ÿ’ธ. I hope they get to the bottom of this thing ASAP so we can get back to our usual air travel shenanigans โœˆ๏ธ.

Ugh man ๐Ÿ˜’ I feel like we're living in a sci-fi movie or something... a whole country grounded due to radio frequency disruptions? Like, what's next?! ๐Ÿคฏ How do you even navigate planes without proper comms? It's crazy that some flights were still able to make it work, but at the same time, safety should always be the top priority. Fingers crossed they figure out the issue ASAP so people can get back to traveling ๐Ÿ˜Š. I guess this is a good excuse for a staycation tho... anyone want to grab a coffee and watch some movies? ๐Ÿต๐Ÿฟ
