A handwritten letter from convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein to Larry Nassar, the former doctor at Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics, has been found in newly released Justice Department records. The letter was written just three days before Epstein's death in August 2019.
The crude and disturbing letter, which includes references to Epstein's own death as a "short route" home and an indirect reference to President Donald Trump, raises questions about the circumstances surrounding Epstein's demise. Despite the FBI's initial suspicions that Epstein may have faked his own death or was murdered, no conclusive evidence has been found.
The letter also reveals that Epstein had written to Nassar at the time of his incarceration in a federal prison in Tucson, Arizona, with an envelope marked "return to sender" due to Nassar being previously incarcerated there. It is unclear whether Epstein and Nassar ever had any personal relationship.
In another batch of released Justice Department documents, it has been revealed that Epstein met one of his known victims at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in 1990s, a fine arts summer camp near Traverse City. The victim was only 13 years old at the time and alleges she was groomed by Epstein over several years before being sexually abused.
It is also reported that Epstein brought this young girl to Mar-a-Lago where he introduced her to Trump, with whom Epstein had ties. However, Trump denies any wrongdoing and has not been charged in connection with Epstein's crimes.
The newly released records have sparked renewed concerns about the investigation into Epstein's death and the handling of his case by federal authorities.
