Andy Carroll, the former England footballer, has vehemently denied breaching a non-molestation order by incessantly contacting his ex-wife Billi Mucklow. The 37-year-old, who currently plays for National League South club Dagenham & Redbridge, has opted to plead not guilty after being charged with allegedly violating the court order in March last year.
Carroll's actions reportedly transpired despite the family court order which aimed to prevent contact between him and his ex-wife. Mucklow, a reality TV show personality known for appearing on The Only Way Is Essex, was said to have received multiple phone calls from Carroll, sparking concerns about her safety.
The case is set to move forward as Carroll will be making his next appearance at Chelmsford Crown Court on March 4th. District Judge Roy Brown has bailed Carroll until then, instructing him that if he maintains a not guilty plea, arrangements for a trial will be made.
During the brief hearing, Carroll appeared visibly uncomfortable as he confirmed his name, address, and date of birth while sporting a green coat and using crutches with a foot brace. When asked whether he preferred to be tried in a magistrates or Crown court, Carroll requested Crown Court without hesitation.
The news comes as a stark contrast to Carroll's illustrious football career, which includes playing for top-tier clubs such as Newcastle, Liverpool, West Ham, Reading, and West Brom. His involvement in this case raises questions about his personal life and the measures he has taken to address any relationship issues with Mucklow.
