Anthony Joshua's Driver Charged with Deadly Reckless Driving After Fatal Crash in Nigeria
A devastating crash involving former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on a busy highway in southwest Nigeria has left two people dead, including Joshua himself. The shocking incident occurred just 10 days after Joshua celebrated his victory against YouTube personality Jake Paul in the US.
According to reports, Kayode, Joshua's driver and a longtime member of his team, lost control of the vehicle while attempting to overtake another car. The tire on the passenger side burst, causing the SUV to crash into a stationary lorry carrying soya beans that was parked on the hard shoulder of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Miraculously, Joshua escaped with minor injuries, but his 36-year-old personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami, died instantly at the scene.
Kayode has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, as well as driving without a valid license and failing to exercise due care while behind the wheel. The court will hear his case on January 20th. Nigerian authorities believe that the vehicle was traveling at an excessive speed when the crash occurred.
