ASUS has stopped producing the NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti and 5060 Ti 16GB, saying they've reached 'end of life'

ASUS Halts Production of NVIDIA's Discontinued RTX 5070 Ti and 5060 Ti 16GB Models

In a move that's left many in the tech industry scratching their heads, ASUS has stopped producing its NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti and 5060 Ti 16GB models due to an "end-of-life" status assigned by the company.

According to recent information from YouTube channel Hardware Unboxed, ASUS was told explicitly by NVIDIA that there's a severe supply shortage on the RTX 5070 Ti. As a result, the manufacturer has put both GPUs into end of life status and no longer plans to produce them.

Hardware Unboxed recently spoke with retailers in Australia who confirmed that neither model is available for purchase from their stores. The 5070 Ti is now considered "dead," with its components being phased out due to ASUS's inability to source sufficient memory supply, a consequence largely caused by the AI boom and increased demand for RAM.

NVIDIA spokesperson stated that "Demand for GeForce RTX GPUs is strong, and memory supply is constrained" but did not provide further details. Despite this, it appears NVIDIA itself has been forced to adjust its production strategies in response to these industry-wide shortages.

Hardware Unboxed also provided some insight into the broader implications of this shortage, including how ASUS's decision reflects a shift by major manufacturers away from meeting consumer demand for graphics cards and other hardware products, instead focusing on satisfying high-end clients such as data center infrastructure companies.

I just heard about this 🀯 and I'm like "wait, what?!" πŸ˜‚ back in the day we had those RTX 5070 Ti and 5060 Ti models and they were so hard to get too! but now they're basically dead πŸ’€. I remember my friend's brother had one of those 5060 Ti's and he was super proud of it 🀩, he used it for gaming and video editing and it performed amazingly well πŸŽ₯.

but now I guess ASUS can't even get the memory right πŸ˜”, it's like they lost the magic ✨. And what's with NVIDIA just going along with it? Don't they care about the regular folks who want to game or create with those GPUs? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ I mean, I know demand is high and all that but come on! πŸ™„.

anyway, this shortage thingy has got me thinking... what's next? Are we gonna see more GPUs go "out of stock" just like that? 🚫 and how are people supposed to handle it now? πŸ’Έ

Ugh, can't believe I just got my hands on those GPUs for my kid's gaming PC only to have them taken away from me 😩! Now they're literally "dead" and no one can get any more? It's like NVIDIA is just saying "forget about the rest of us regular folks, we've got our high-end clients covered"... Like, what even is the point of having a GPU if it's just gonna be taken away from everyone else? 🀯

Wow 🀯! Can you believe NVIDIA is already discontinuing GPUs due to the AI boom? It's like they're saying "enough is enough" with the memory supply shortage πŸ€–πŸ’». I mean, who wouldn't want a sick GPU for gaming or content creation anymore? Interesting 😎 how this shift is going to affect the market and consumers in the long run...

omg 😱 what's going on with gpu prices rn?! i mean i knew it was getting crazy but this is insane! so asus just stopped making these models because of a shortage caused by the ai boom? that makes sense, i guess. but why didnt they just stockpile more ram? anyway, i'm sure some ppl out there are super hyped about gpu prices stabilizing... not me tho πŸ˜‚ just kidding, kinda. anywayz, this is def a sign that major manufacturers r focusing on data center clients now. wonder if we'll see more of these shortages in the future πŸ€”

Umm so like NVIDIA's gonna mess up the RTX 5070 Ti & 5060 Ti right? πŸ€” I thought they were still making these GPUs? Why did ASUS stop production if there's not that much demand for them? Is it because people don't want to buy them anymore or something?

Also, what does it even mean when a company puts a GPU into "end of life" status? Does that mean it's like a dead thing now and can't be used? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ I got confused just reading about this whole thing. Can someone explain it to me in simple terms?

And btw, how do data center infrastructure companies even need that many GPUs anyway? Is it for some super cool AI project or something? πŸ€“

I'm still trying to wrap my head around why NVIDIA is killing off these GPU models πŸ€”. I mean, 16GB is a decent amount of memory, right? And it's not like we're talking about the 1080 or anything πŸ˜‚. It just seems like a weird move, especially considering how much hype was built up around those cards when they first came out. Now I'm curious to see if other manufacturers are going to follow suit and ditch their lower-end GPUs too πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ. This whole thing is making me want to upgrade my rig ASAP just to get some of that sweet, sweet RTX goodness 😎.

I'm kinda shocked that NVIDIA is forcing ASUS to stop making those GPUs πŸ€”... I mean, it makes sense that memory supply is a problem due to the AI boom but doesn't seem fair to consumers who still want those cards. It's like, where's the demand for those high-end models going? πŸ€‘ I think this shows how GPU market has shifted from gamers to data centers and other industries... ASUS just got caught in the middle 😐. Does anyone else think NVIDIA is being too strict on supply chain management or is it just good business sense? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

OMG, I'm like totally confused about this 🀯! I mean, NVIDIA just announced that their RTX 5070 Ti and 5060 Ti 16GB models are discontinued and ASUS can't even source enough memory supply πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ... it's not like they didn't see this coming, right? πŸ˜’ I think we're all just getting caught up in the hype of the AI boom and forgetting about the regular gamers who actually care about affordable GPUs 😩. And what's up with NVIDIA just not saying anything more about the memory supply thingy πŸ€”... is it really that hard to admit that they can't keep up with demand? πŸ™„
