ASUS Halts Production of NVIDIA's Discontinued RTX 5070 Ti and 5060 Ti 16GB Models
In a move that's left many in the tech industry scratching their heads, ASUS has stopped producing its NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti and 5060 Ti 16GB models due to an "end-of-life" status assigned by the company.
According to recent information from YouTube channel Hardware Unboxed, ASUS was told explicitly by NVIDIA that there's a severe supply shortage on the RTX 5070 Ti. As a result, the manufacturer has put both GPUs into end of life status and no longer plans to produce them.
Hardware Unboxed recently spoke with retailers in Australia who confirmed that neither model is available for purchase from their stores. The 5070 Ti is now considered "dead," with its components being phased out due to ASUS's inability to source sufficient memory supply, a consequence largely caused by the AI boom and increased demand for RAM.
NVIDIA spokesperson stated that "Demand for GeForce RTX GPUs is strong, and memory supply is constrained" but did not provide further details. Despite this, it appears NVIDIA itself has been forced to adjust its production strategies in response to these industry-wide shortages.
Hardware Unboxed also provided some insight into the broader implications of this shortage, including how ASUS's decision reflects a shift by major manufacturers away from meeting consumer demand for graphics cards and other hardware products, instead focusing on satisfying high-end clients such as data center infrastructure companies.
