Bears' Kevin Byard wants to re-sign, 'finish what we started' as he hopes for new contract before free agency

Bears Safety Kevin Byard Hopes to Re-Sign Before Free Agency, Finish What They Started

The Chicago Bears' safety, Kevin Byard, is just a month away from free agency and hopes to re-sign with the team before hitting the open market. According to the player himself, he would rather not test the market and would be thrilled if the Bears can work out a new contract that keeps him on board.

Byard had an impressive season, leading the NFL in interceptions and earning his third Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections since joining the Bears last year. Despite being one of the team's oldest players, with the upcoming free agency period approaching at age 33, Byard is confident in his abilities. "Age is nothing but a number," he said. "It's all about how you feel. Looking at me on film, I turned the clock back. If you can ball, you can ball."

While general manager Ryan Poles hasn't made any promises yet, Byard is optimistic that the Bears will make an effort to re-sign him. He expressed hope that he would be a top priority for the team, but acknowledged that there are many decisions to be made on both sides.

Byard's teammate, cornerback Nahshon Wright, also faces uncertainty in the coming weeks as he hits free agency. However, Wright is in a stronger position, with market value projected at three years and $50 million. He expressed optimism about his situation, saying it was "definitely a good situation to be in."

In related news, center Drew Dalman re-signed with the Bears earlier this season after making his first Pro Bowl appearance last year. Meanwhile, left guard Joe Thuney will look to make it four consecutive selections at the Pro Bowl.

The Bears' pass rusher Tua Tagovailoa is not on the team list as he's still injured.

I'm both excited and skeptical about Kevin Byard re-signing with the Chicago Bears πŸ€”. On one hand, Byard has been incredible this season and deserves a new deal after his impressive Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections πŸ’ͺ. But, at 33, he's getting up there in years for an NFL safety, and I'm not sure if the team can justify keeping him on a big contract πŸ€‘.

On the other hand, if Byard is willing to take it year by year, that could be a smart move for both parties 🀝. But, if they want to keep him long-term, they'll need to make some tough decisions about their cap space and prioritize their roster over younger, cheaper players πŸ‘Š.

πŸ€” I gotta say, I'm glad Byard wants to stick with Chicago... I mean, who wouldn't want a guy like him, right? πŸ™Œ He's been a beast out there on the field! 🏈 As for Nahshon Wright, yeah, he's in a good spot, but only time will tell how it all plays out. 🀞 And btw, I'm loving the Bears' pass rusher Tua (heh, no relation to the QB 😜) is out with an injury... hope he gets back on track soon! πŸ’ͺ

omg i cant believe how fast my school year is going by already! like one month and we have summer break 🀯 anyway back to kevin byard, im rooting for him 2 re-sign with the bears lol he's such a legend on the field and it would be awesome if they could work out a new contract that keeps him there πŸ‘ i feel bad 4 nahshon wright tho since hes in a stronger position rn πŸ€” fingers crossed 4 both of them tho!

Just read about Kevin Byard and I gotta say, dude's been playing like a guy half his age. Still got that pop in his game and it's crazy to think he's only 33... or so. Age might be a concern for some but clearly not for Byard. He's all about the play on the field and doesn't care what anyone else says. Can't say I blame him, who wouldn't want to keep playing at this level? Fingers crossed the Bears can work out a deal with him before he hits the market 🀞

man... I think its crazy how much Kevin Byard wants to stay with the Bears 🀯. like, hes getting up there in age (33!), but he's still ballin' like a pro and makin' big plays. I'm all for him comin' back, cuz he's such a key piece to the team's defense. if they can work out a deal that keeps him happy, I think it'd be huge for the team's stability 😊.

πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ you know how in football they always talk about a player being "on" or "off form"? i think it's kinda like in life, we all have those moments where we're feeling the energy and motivation 🌞 and then others when we're just trying to get through the day 😴. kevin byard seems like one of those guys who's always been on πŸ”₯, and it's awesome to see him having so much confidence in himself at 33 years old πŸŽ‰. let's be real, though, with the bears' pass rusher tua tagovailoa being injured, we need some backup ASAP πŸ’ͺ. fingers crossed kevin byard re-signs with the team before free agency tho! 🀞

I feel for Kevin Byard, you know? He's been a beast on the field and has led the league in interceptions 🐻. 33 isn't old, but I get why teams might be hesitant to give long-term deals to guys who are getting up there in years... it's all about cap space and future investments πŸ’Έ. Nahshon Wright is lucky to have a stronger market value coming into his FA period πŸ€‘. And on the flip side, Drew Dalman re-signing with the Bears after his first Pro Bowl appearance is awesome for that team 😊. Byard's optimism about being a top priority makes sense - he's been a game-changer in Chicago πŸ”₯. Fingers crossed he can get it done and stays with the Bears 🀞.

Dude, Kevin Byard seems like a real pro about staying with his team. Like, 33 and still racking up those interceptions 🀯, that's some impressive stuff! I'm all for keeping him on board, he'd be a huge loss to the Bears if he goes elsewhere πŸ’”. And yeah, it's crazy how many key players are set to hit free agency, gotta wonder what they'll do about Tua's injury situation πŸ€•. Nahshon Wright seems like he's got some solid offers coming his way too, fingers crossed he sticks with the team πŸ’ͺ!

OMG, I'm so down for Kevin Byard to re-sign with the Bears!!! 🀩🏈 He's been killing it on the field and deserves a big contract! At 33, he's still got it, you know? πŸ’ͺ Age is just a number, right? πŸ˜‚ And Nahshon Wright is in a great spot too, I mean who doesn't want to make $50 million over three years?! πŸ€‘ But seriously, the Bears need him at corner and Byard is a game-changer. Fingers crossed they can work out something before free agency! 🀞🏈
