Box Office: ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ Stays No. 1 for Fourth Consecutive Friday; ‘Primate’ Swings to $4.5 Million Opening Day

"Avatar: Fire and Ash" Reigns Supreme at Box Office for Fourth Straight Friday

The sci-fi epic "Avatar: Fire and Ash" continued to dominate the box office, claiming the top spot in domestic charts for a fourth consecutive Friday. According to recent numbers, the third installment of James Cameron's beloved franchise raked in $5 million domestically on Friday, further cementing its position as one of the highest-grossing films of the year.

Industry experts predict that "Avatar: Fire and Ash" will continue to attract a large audience over the weekend, with estimates suggesting it could reach an additional $20 million by Sunday. This would bring the film's total domestic gross close to the coveted $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office.

On the other hand, Paramount's creature feature "Primate" made its theatrical debut with impressive numbers, taking in $4.5 million on Friday from 2,964 North American theaters. The horror film, starring Johnny Sequoyah and Troy Kotsur, tells the story of a group of teens whose vacation is disrupted by a rabid chimpanzee that turns deadly.

While "Primate" had a promising opening day, its total projected earnings over the weekend are lower than "Avatar: Fire and Ash", with estimates suggesting $11 million. In contrast, Lionsgate's survival thriller "Greenland 2: Migration" opened with a moderate $3.2 million on Friday, although it is expected to reach $8.5 million by Sunday.

Holdovers in the top five included A24's ping pong drama "Marty Supreme", which dropped 52% from last week and is projected to earn $7.9 million by Sunday, while Lionsgate's twisty domestic thriller "The Housemaid" collected $3.3 million on its fourth Friday and is expected to add $10.6 million over the weekend.

As the box office continues to unfold, it will be interesting to see how these films compete for attention in the coming weeks. For now, "Avatar: Fire and Ash" remains a dominant force at the domestic box office.

I'm just amazed by this Avatar movie, I mean I was there when Avatar 1 came out back in 2009 🤯 it's crazy to see how much the franchise has grown over time. My nephew is super into gaming and he loves playing as Jake Sully and I've seen him get so excited when his friends start talking about the new movie 🎮. Anyways, as a retiree, I remember when special effects were just starting to become more sophisticated back in my day and to see how far we've come is just mind-blowing 🤖. It's also great to see that people are still enjoying sci-fi movies like Avatar - it's not going out of style anytime soon! 🚀

Dude, Avatar 3 is on fire...pun intended 🚒🔥. I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a bunch of humans flying around on weirdly tall bikes? It's like the cinematic equivalent of playing Call of Duty all day 😂. And don't even get me started on James Cameron, he's like the Michael Bay of sci-fi - over-the-top and totally entertaining 🎥. I'm not sure what "Primate" is trying to do, though, is it a horror movie or just a bunch of kids running away from a rabid chimp? 🐒👀

omg avatar is still killing it 🤩💥 i mean what can you say? james cameron's magic never gets old 💫 i was on the edge of my seat when i saw this news 😱 $5 million in one day? yessss please let it keep raking in those numbers 💸 i'm not surprised about "primate" though, horror movies are always a hit 🎃 and "greenland 2: migration" looks interesting too 🤔 but avatar is just on another level 🔥 can't wait to see what's next for this franchise 💖

OMG 🤯, I'm loving this new Avatar flick! It's crazy how it's breaking all the records 🎥💸, especially with that 4th straight Friday win 💪! James Cameron is a genius, right? 😍 The special effects are insane and I need to see it in IMAX ASAP 📽️. But, I gotta say, Primate looks kinda cool too 🐒...I mean, who doesn't love a good zombie apocalypse story? 🤣 Anyway, Avatar is my top pick for the weekend 🌟, let's get this box office party started! 🎉

idk what's so special about avatars they just look like blue people with fancy tech 🤷‍♂️ anyway, have you seen that new primate movie? seems kinda cool 🐒 guess its gonna be a wild ride for that rabid chimps storyline 💥 maybe its time to diversify the genre a bit instead of rehashing the same ol avy formula 🚫

omg, i'm not surprised by avatar's dominance 🤯🎥 it's been years since the first one came out and fans are still super invested! i mean, who doesn't love a good sci-fi epic on the big screen? 😎 as for prime, $4.5 mil is a decent start, but we'll see how it holds up against avatar's behemoth of a budget 💸 and let's be real, james cameron's got some serious pull 👊

I don't usually comment but I gotta say, $1 billion is just crazy 💸! I mean, I've seen Avatar 1 like five times already and it still holds up surprisingly well 🤯. But this third one, Fire and Ash, is on another level 🌟. I'm not even a huge sci-fi fan, but the trailers looked so epic that I kinda had to see it for myself 😲. And now it's breaking all these box office records? Mind blown 🤯! What's up with that? Is the franchise just getting better and better or is it some kind of marketing magic 🔮?
