Bronx man arrested in stabbing death of 53-year-old Melrose resident

A 38-year-old Bronx man has been taken into custody in connection with the stabbing death of a 53-year-old Melrose resident. The suspect, Sean Jones, was apprehended by NYPD detectives Tuesday at approximately 3:30 p.m. following an investigation that used surveillance footage to identify him as the prime suspect.

Jones, who is said to reside in Morrisania, now faces multiple charges related to George Ennin's death on Monday afternoon. In addition to first-degree murder, Jones also stands accused of manslaughter and possession of a deadly weapon, both of which carry significant penalties.

According to authorities, Ennin was discovered unresponsive around 2 p.m. Monday on Third Avenue in Melrose, suffering multiple stab wounds. Paramedics from the scene transported him to Lincoln Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Police have stated that the attack appeared to be unprovoked and that Jones and Ennin were not acquainted with one another. An attorney for Jones remains unidentified at this time as he awaits arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court on Wednesday.

The tragic killing marks the first homicide in 2025 within the 40th Precinct boundaries, which encompass Melrose, Mott Haven, and Port Morris. However, this year's overall rate of homicides is slightly lower than the previous year, with a reported decline of 20% citywide between 2024 and 2025.

omg I just got back from the most random vacation in Hawaii ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ–๏ธ and my mind just went blank thinking about this stabbing news... what's with all these violent crimes lately? ๐Ÿค” anyway, I was reading that NYC is down 20% in homicides this year... that's kinda cool? but wait, how does surveillance footage help identify the guy so fast? like, didn't they have to watch hours of footage or something? ๐Ÿ•ต๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ and what's with all these charges against Sean Jones? first-degree murder is pretty serious... I hope he gets a good lawyer to represent him ๐Ÿคž

Ugh man I just saw that breaking news on my phone ๐Ÿคฏ and it's so sad! Stabbing is such a violent crime and it's just devastating when you see someone get hurt like that ๐Ÿ˜”. I'm all for keeping our communities safe but this is just crazy. I do wish they had more surveillance cameras around those areas though, maybe it could've prevented the whole thing ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Anyway, I hope Sean Jones gets the help he needs and that justice is served ๐Ÿ’ฏ.

man I'm still trying to wrap my head around this stabbing in Melrose, NYC ๐Ÿคฏ it's crazy how quickly things escalated for George Ennin, went from being fine to multiple stab wounds in like what, an hour? ๐Ÿ’‰ the NYPD did a good job identifying Sean Jones as the prime suspect using that surveillance footage tho ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ but now we gotta think about the actual punishment for him, 40 years straight is wild ๐Ÿคฏ at least the homicide rate this year is down 20% compared to last year, that's some positive news ๐Ÿ˜Š

omg whats up w/ dis guy?! stabbing some1 in cold blood like dat ๐Ÿ˜ก meanwhile his lawyer gotta keep it under wraps lol guess he cant even get a good rep for his dude idk wut kinda game jones was tryna play but at least the NYPD stepped in & got him ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ anyways, thats some crazy stats though 20% less homicides citywide? thats def somethin to celebrate ๐ŸŽ‰

This stabbing in Melrose is just heartbreaking. I mean, a guy goes out to get some groceries or something, and then he ends up stabbed multiple times ๐Ÿค•. It's crazy how senseless it can be. And the fact that the suspect didn't even know the victim beforehand makes it all the more shocking. What was going through this guy's mind? ๐Ÿ˜ฉ It's just not right.

I'm glad the police were able to catch him, though. I don't think we'd want to see anyone else get hurt. The stats about homicides being down overall are a little reassuring, but you never know what might happen in an individual case. Still, it's good to hear that 2025 is off to a slightly better start than the previous year ๐Ÿ’ช.

This is so sad what happened to George Ennin I feel bad for his family and friends they must be going through such a tough time ๐Ÿค•. The fact that it was an unprovoked attack just makes it even worse. You'd think with all the security cameras around we should be able to catch these people who do terrible things sooner. It's like they're always one step ahead of us ๐Ÿ™„. And now Sean Jones is going to have a long road ahead of him in court, which is probably not what he wants to hear ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Ugh, can't believe what's happening in our streets ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿš”๐Ÿ˜ฑ. This stabbing death in Melrose is just heartbreaking, man... it's like, what are we doing wrong as a society? We need to get our communities together and find ways to keep each other safe ๐Ÿ’•. I mean, surveillance footage can only take you so far - there gotta be more to these investigations than just watching people walk around ๐Ÿ“น. And let's not forget about mental health, we gotta talk about that too ๐Ÿค. We can't just focus on the punishment, we need to address the root causes of this stuff ๐Ÿ˜”.

omg u wont bliev wut happnd in ny yesterday!! some dude sean jones went ballistic n stabbed sum1 tot death! im so saddened by this sad news... i hope the fam of dat guy gez tht kinda support he needs rn. cant believe its 2025 & we stil hav ppl dyin like dis ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿš” its like, what r we doin wrng? at least the NYPD is workin hard 2 catch sumbody n make 'em pay 4 their crims ๐Ÿ’ฏ but still... this stings

I'm really hoping that Sean Jones gets the help he needs to turn his life around ๐Ÿคž. It's crazy how one wrong move can lead to something so devastating. I mean, we're seeing a slight decrease in homicides this year, which is super encouraging! ๐ŸŒŸ The 40th precinct has been on high alert since Monday's incident, and it's clear that they're working hard to keep the community safe.

It's also worth noting that investigations like this one can really help prevent future crimes. Using surveillance footage was a genius move by the detectives ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Maybe we can even learn from this tragedy and find ways to support people who are struggling, rather than letting them fall through the cracks? ๐Ÿค Fingers crossed for Sean Jones' arraignment on Wednesday! ๐Ÿ’ช

OMG, I'm so relieved that Sean Jones was caught by the NYPD detectives ๐Ÿ™Œ! It's crazy to think that surveillance footage helped solve the case. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ I mean, it's like technology is just getting better and better. And yeah, I know it's super sad about George Ennin's passing ๐Ÿ’”, but at least his family will have some closure now. On a positive note, 2025 is already seeing a decline in homicides compared to last year ๐Ÿ“‰! It's giving me hope for the future ๐Ÿ˜Š. Let's focus on spreading love and positivity instead of negativity ๐Ÿ’–.

man... stabbing someone just for no reason its so senseless ๐Ÿค• ...i feel bad for Ennin family... 38 is way too young to lose their life like that... and now Jones gotta face the music... hopefully justice will be served... but it's always hard to see people go through this kinda pain & suffering ๐Ÿ˜”

๐Ÿ˜ So, another stabbing death in Melrose. Like, what's going on in this city? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ First, it's like a typical Tuesday afternoon, right? Then suddenly some dude is stabbed to death on Third Avenue. No idea who the guy was or why he got stabbed, but now we're dealing with another life lost and another family torn apart ๐Ÿ’”.

The NYPD is trying to do their thing and catch the suspect, but it's just so frustrating when it feels like they're not doing enough ๐Ÿ™„. The fact that they used surveillance footage to identify Jones as the prime suspect is nice, I guess, but what about all the other factors that might've contributed to this? Like, was there some underlying issue or conflict between these two dudes that we don't know about yet? ๐Ÿค”

just reading about this stabbing case makes me wonder how many people are walking around with knives, thinking they're safe to attack someone just 'cause they don't know them ๐Ÿค”. seems like there's still a lot of anger & aggression out there that needs to be addressed. and what's with the 20% decline in homicides? is it just a coincidence or is something being done on the back-end that we don't know about? ๐Ÿ‘€

Ugh my heart goes out to the family of the poor guy who got stabbed to death ๐Ÿค•๐Ÿ˜ข in Melrose. I mean what's going on here is just so senseless. You're walking down the street, enjoying your afternoon, and then BAM! Someone comes out of nowhere and starts stabbing you. No love ๐Ÿ’”. And now we find out that this guy was just a normal 53-year-old who didn't deserve to die like that. My kids would be shaken if they saw something like this on the news ๐Ÿ“บ๐Ÿ˜ฑ. I hope justice is served for George Ennin's family and that Sean Jones gets the help he needs... or at least faces the consequences of his actions ๐Ÿ’ช.

So another stabbing death in NYC ๐Ÿค•. The fact that Jones was identified through surveillance footage is actually kinda cool ๐Ÿ“บ. But seriously, a 20% drop in homicides is a good sign, but we need to see if this trend continues throughout the year ๐Ÿ”. I'm also curious to know what led up to this attack - was it a random encounter or was there some kind of conflict beforehand? The police saying it was unprovoked is reassuring ๐Ÿ™, but we should still be vigilant about community safety and make sure people are looking out for each other ๐Ÿ‘ซ.

๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿคฏ just heard about dis stabbing death in Melrose... ๐Ÿ˜” so sad 53-year-old man lost his life. ๐Ÿ’€ it's like, who does dat?!? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ NYPD detectives did a good job tracking down the suspect, Sean Jones ๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ. He's in trouble now, and I'm all for justice being served โš–๏ธ.

I mean, no one deserves to die over nothing ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ it's like, let's keep our cool and resolve conflicts peacefully โค๏ธ. But sometimes, things just go wrong, and we have to deal with the consequences ๐Ÿค”. On a brighter note, 2025 has seen a slight decline in homicides, which is definitely something to be celebrated ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ‘!

๐Ÿ˜• This is such a sad story... I feel for Ennin's family and loved ones ๐Ÿ’”. It's heartbreaking to think about a life cut short like that ๐Ÿคฏ. The fact that it was an unprovoked attack just makes you wonder what could've been done differently ๐Ÿ’ญ. I mean, 20% fewer homicides in the city is definitely a positive trend, but this case is still really tough on everyone involved ๐ŸŒซ๏ธ. The community is already grieving and now they're having to process this tragic loss... it's just not fair ๐Ÿ˜”.

I mean, can you even imagine what went through that guy Ennin's mind leading up to that attack? ๐Ÿคฏ I'm reading this news and it's just so sad. The fact that the suspect was taken down by surveillance footage is wild. I feel like we're living in a bad TV show or something. And 20% less homicides is definitely a good thing, but at the same time...it's a single life lost ๐Ÿค•. What's with the guy Jones' history? Was he always like this? Did he get to some point where he snapped? I need more info on that ๐Ÿ“ฐ.
