CES 2026: Longbow Motors shows off its Speedster EV with Donut Lab's in-wheel motors

Longbow Motors, a UK-based electric vehicle startup, has unveiled its Speedster model at CES 2026. The company's innovative approach to design, combined with the advanced in-wheel motors from Donut Lab, sets it apart from other EV manufacturers.

The Speedster boasts a sleek and modern design, with a roofless layout that adds an air of excitement and adventure. However, this open-top design also means it lacks protection from the elements, making it suitable only for the most committed of open-air enthusiasts.

Inside the car, the interior is minimalist and Spartan, with an emphasis on simplicity and minimalism. The gauge cluster and primary controls are yet to be revealed, but it's clear that Longbow aims to create a more stripped-back driving experience compared to traditional EVs.

One notable feature of the Speedster is its unique drivetrain layout, which utilizes the Donut Lab in-wheel motors situated directly inside the wheel. This design not only reduces weight and increases space efficiency but also provides improved handling benefits due to the reduced unsprung mass.

The car's battery pack runs along the center of the vehicle, keeping the mass centralized while enabling ultra-low seating positions. With its powerful Donut Lab motors, the Speedster is said to accelerate from 0-60mph in just 3.5 seconds, making it a supercar-like performer.

Pricing for the Speedster starts at around ยฃ84,995 (approximately $100,000), with the Roadster model available at a lower price point of ยฃ64,995 (around $75,000). However, due to international tariffs, actual prices may be higher when production begins later this year. Reservations are currently open on Longbow Motors' website.

For those who can afford it, the Speedster offers a thrilling driving experience and a chance to own an ultra-exclusive EV. With its innovative design, advanced technology, and impressive performance capabilities, Longbow Motors is sure to generate significant interest in the EV market.

๐Ÿš€ just saw the Longbow Motors Speedster at CES 2026 and I'm OBSESSED ๐Ÿ˜! that roofless design is gonna be a game changer for open-air enthusiasts ๐ŸŒž! and with those Donut Lab in-wheel motors, this thing is gonna handle like a dream ๐Ÿ’จ! ยฃ84,995 is a bit steep for me, but if you're ready to splurge, it's definitely worth considering ๐Ÿค‘. can't wait to see how it performs on the track ๐ŸŽ๏ธ!

๐Ÿš— OMG this thing looks so sick I mean who wouldn't wanna drive around with no roof ๐ŸŒž? But like at the same time it's also kinda scary not having any protection from the elements ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. And ยฃ84,995 is just waaay out of my budget ๐Ÿ’ธ๐Ÿ’ธ. I guess you'd have to be super committed to owning one of these Speedsters and being all open-airy ๐ŸŒด. But like seriously can't wait to see what it's like on the road ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ”ฅ

OMG, ยฃ84k+ for a car? That's like buying a small island ๐ŸŒด๐Ÿ๏ธ! I mean, I get it, it's electric and super fast, but is that really worth breaking the bank? I think people would rather have a decent one-lane stretch of road to themselves than drive around in some fancy-pants EV ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ. Plus, all that open-air stuff just seems like a recipe for getting sunburnt or caught in a downpour ๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸŒจ๏ธ. Give me a solid roof and A/C any day!

omg u gotta see dis new EV from longbow motors ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿ’จ! it's like they took everythin what makes a supercar and put it into one car lol! roofless design? how are they even gonna keep us dry on a rainy day tho? ๐Ÿ˜‚ anywayz, the interior is supposed 2 b minimalist & all that but i think it'll be kinda cool 2 have a more stripped-back driving exp. plus those donut lab motors r insane ๐Ÿคฏ! 3.5 sec 0-60mph?? thats like somethin outta a movie lololol! and ยฃ84k? yeah right, good luck gettin 1 of dem at that price ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿค‘

I'm intrigued by the Speedster's unique design, but I'm not sure if I'd want to give up that much protection from the elements ๐ŸŒž๐Ÿ˜…. A roofless layout can be a lot of fun on sunny days, but what about when it rains or gets too hot? And don't get me wrong, I love the minimalist interior vibe, but for those long road trips, wouldn't it get pretty cramped in there? ๐Ÿ˜ด The in-wheel motors from Donut Lab do sound impressive though - reduced weight and improved handling could make a big difference. ยฃ84,995 is still a bit steep for me, but if you're into that sorta thing, I guess the Speedster's worth checking out ๐Ÿค‘

The thing that caught my eye about this new Speedster from Longbow Motors is how it's tackling the whole open-top vibe vs protection from the elements conundrum ๐Ÿค”. Like, if you're gonna go for a minimalist design, shouldn't they at least give you some sort of UV protection or weatherproofing? Or are we just supposed to assume that only the most committed thrill-seekers will be driving around in this thing with no roof ๐Ÿ˜…?
