Disney names Josh D'Amaro CEO, Dana Walden president and chief creative officer

The Walt Disney Company has named Josh D'Amaro as its new Chief Executive Officer, with Dana Walden taking on the role of President and Chief Creative Officer. D'Amaro will formally assume his position on March 18, succeeding current CEO Bob Iger who is stepping down this year.

D'Amaro, a seasoned executive with 24 years at Disney, has been instrumental in leading the company's experiences unit, overseeing its global network of theme parks and hotel resorts, as well as cruise ships and consumer products. His tenure spans over two decades, with his appointment marked by Chairman James Gorman describing him as an "exceptional leader" whose leadership will drive the company's future success.

Walden's promotion to President and Chief Creative Officer marks a significant shift in Disney's strategy under Iger's leadership. With her background in leading entertainment media, news, and content businesses, including its streaming service, Walden is well-positioned to drive creative excellence across the Disney umbrella.

Iger's departure has been described as a key priority by the company's board of directors, who have actively sought to identify and develop a strong successor candidate. The transition marks a new chapter for Disney under D'Amaro's leadership, with the company poised to tackle ambitious projects while maintaining its commitment to operational excellence.

As part of his appointment, Disney has confirmed that Walden will be responsible for driving creative initiatives across the company, building on her extensive experience in leading content and entertainment businesses. The move is seen as a strategic shift towards leveraging Disney's diverse assets to deliver innovative experiences to audiences worldwide.

I don’t usually comment but… I think it’s kinda interesting that Josh D'Amaro and Dana Walden are taking over at the same time 🤔. Like, they both seem super qualified for their roles, but also... how's this gonna play out? Are they gonna work together like a well-oiled machine or is there some tension brewing beneath the surface? I mean, it’s always hard to know what goes on behind closed doors at these big companies 🤫. Also, 24 years of experience at Disney is insane! You'd think someone would want to try something new after that long 🙃

So Josh D'Amaro is taking over as CEO now 🤣 guess he's gonna be like the king of all things Disney - and by 'king' I mean he'll have to deal with Bob Iger's ego still lingering around 😂. On a more serious note, Dana Walden sounds like a total boss lady! She's got experience in leading various media businesses and now she's gonna bring that creativity magic to Disney 🎨💫

omg u guys can't wait 2 see what Josh D'Amaro & Dana Walden bring 2 the table 😂. I think its gonna be lit! 💥 Josh has been with disney 4eva & I'm all about that nostalgia vibe 🎠👀 but I'm hyped 2 c how he's gonna take it 2 new heights as CEO 🚀💫. Dana's got some big shoes 2 fill w/ Bob Iger stepping down, but I trust her & I think she's gonna crush it as President & Chief Creative Officer 💁‍♀️🎨. cant wait 2 c what kind of magic happens when these 2 powerhouses come together 🧙‍♀️💫

omg u guys I'm so hyped about Josh D'Amaro taking over as CEO 🤩 he's been with Disney for like 24 yrs and has led some amazing initiatives! I think it's awesome that Dana Walden is coming on board too, she sounds super qualified and will bring a fresh perspective to the creative side of things. 💡 I'm curious to see what kind of projects they'll greenlight next, maybe we'll get even more epic Marvel & Star Wars movies 🎥👽

🤔 the way we think about leadership and power, you know? like D'Amaro's promotion to CEO is huge, but what does it really mean for the company? is it just about filling a seat or is there something more profound going on? Iger's departure marks a shift in Disney's strategy, but at what cost? Walden's appointment as President and Chief Creative Officer feels like a strategic move, but are they just trying to maintain the status quo or are they truly pushing the boundaries of what Disney can be?

I mean, we're told that D'Amaro is an "exceptional leader" whose leadership will drive the company's future success, but what does that really say about us? do we really want to believe that someone else can just step in and solve all our problems? 🤷‍♂️ I think there's more to it than that. It's like, what are we even looking for in a leader?

OMG, I'm low-key worried about this new CEO thing 🤯... Like, Josh D'Amaro has been with Disney for ages, which is cool and all, but does that mean he's not bringing in any fresh ideas? 😕 And what about the creative side of things? Dana Walden seems like a great fit, tho! I love her experience in leading entertainment media and news businesses... hopefully she'll bring some much-needed creative spark to the company 🎉. But at the same time, it's sad that Bob Iger is stepping down... he was such an iconic leader for so long 💥. Time will tell if this new team can make Disney even more magical! ✨

I'm low-key hyped about Josh D'Amaro taking over 🤩! Dude's been at Disney for 24 years, he knows the ins and outs like the back of his hand 💼. I think it's safe to say he'll bring some much-needed stability after Bob Iger steps down 👋. Walden's got a solid background in leading content businesses too, so I'm curious to see how they work together 🤝. The future of Disney looks bright, and I'm excited to see what D'Amaro has planned 🎉

OMG 🤩 I'm literally so hyped about this new development!!! 💥 Josh D'Amaro is going to be an AMAZING CEO, I can already feel the magic happening at Disney HQ ✨! And Dana Walden taking on the role of President and Chief Creative Officer? Mind. Blown. 😲 She's got that whole leadership vibe down pat and I know she'll bring so much creative genius to the table 🎨👏 Can't wait to see what the future holds for Disney under this new team! 💫💖

man I'm so down for a new era at disney 🤩 but you gotta wonder what bob iger was thinking leaving now that josh d'amaro is taking the reins... i mean the guy's got 24 years under his belt, it's almost like he's been groomed for this role since the dawn of time 🔥 anyway, i'm excited to see how walden shakes things up as president and chief creative officer, but at the same time i'm a bit concerned about what they're gonna do with all those iconic franchises... are we still gonna make movies? 🎬 or is it all gonna be theme park magic now? 🎠

just heard about the new ceo at disney! i gotta say, d'amaro seems like a solid choice for the job... been around disney forever, you know? i'm curious to see how he'll tackle those ambitious projects but also keep everything running smoothly 🤔👍

I'm low-key kinda surprised that Josh D'Amaro got the CEO job 🤔. I mean, don't get me wrong, he's been with Disney for like, forever, but I think Dana Walden was the more obvious choice 🤑. She's been doing a great job as COO and has some major experience in leading content and entertainment businesses. Plus, she's got that whole streaming service thing down pat 💻. I'm not saying D'Amaro can't do it, but I think he might struggle to balance the creative side of things with the operational aspect 🤯. And what about Bob Iger? He stepped down for a reason, maybe there was something we didn't know about 😒.

So they're shaking things up at Disney 🤔... another CEO change, because why not? D'Amaro's been around for 24 years, I guess that's a good thing? His leadership style is still a mystery, but hey, it'll be fun to watch him try and follow in Bob Iger's footsteps. And Dana Walden getting the creative reins? That's like putting lipstick on a pig 🐖... will make a difference or not. At least they're trying to stay relevant with their "strategic shift" and all that jazz 💼. March can't come soon enough for these suits 😉.

omg u guys its finally happenin!! Josh D'Amaro is takin over disney !! i cant even imagine who else would take the helm lol 🤯 damaro has been with disney 4eva tho, and hes gonna lead dem into a whole new era of magic & wonder 😍 walden comin in as president & ceo is like the icing on the cake 👑 shes got da skills 2 drive creative excellence across all disney platforms 🎥📺💼 cant wait 2 c wht dem got planned 💖

omg 🤯 i'm low-key excited about this new leadership combo! josh d'amaro's 24 yrs of disney exp is insane 💥 and it'll be interesting to see how he navigates the company's massive scale. walden's creative chops are legit too 🎨, she's got the right background for driving that whole "leveraging assets" thing. personally i think d'amaro needs to focus on theming and immersive experiences tho 💡 his expertise in theme parks and cruise ships is solid, but let's see how he adapts to the digital side of things 😊

big changes at disney 😂 so d'amaro's been around for like 24 years 🤯 can't say he hasn't had time to learn the ropes, but still gotta wonder if walden was the right pick for president & chief creative officer? i mean, she's got the entertainment media background and all, but has she really run a cruise ship or theme park before? 🚣‍♀️🎠 idk, just curious to see how this new leadership team shakes things up 👀

omg i'm so excited about this new leadership at disney 🎉👏 Josh d'amaro's been with the company for like 24 years and he's been crushing it in the experiences unit - theme parks, cruise ships, consumer products... the man knows how to bring magic to people's lives ✨

and dania walden is a total rockstar too 🤩 she's got that entertainment media mojo and she's gonna take disney's creative game to the next level 💥 i mean, imagine all the innovative projects they're gonna tackle with her at the helm... it's like a whole new world of possibilities 🌐

i'm curious to see how josh d'amaro's gonna balance out dania walden's more creative approach with his own expertise in operations - they make a killer team 💼👫 can't wait to see what the future holds for disney under their leadership 🎊
