Football quiz: Name the most expensive transfer for every letter of the alphabet

Football fans are put to the test with a unique quiz that challenges them to name the world's most expensive footballer for every letter of the alphabet. The answer is not just about the numbers, but also about who has been splurged on by clubs around the globe.

First up is A, and we're told that Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich costs one club more than £81m. Next is B, where we find Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland worth a whopping £81m to Manchester City. C is covered with Cristiano Ronaldo's £102m move from Juventus to Manchester United still holding the record.

D is home to Dayot Upamecano of RB Leipzig who cost one club more than £80m. Meanwhile, English Premier League clubs have been left out of this market for now but Liverpool has been linked to Jude Bellingham worth a lot more than £80m from Borussia Dortmund.

For F, we have the 25-year-old Fabian Delph in England who is worth significantly less than £81m. He joined Aston Villa back in January and was only on loan with Manchester City at that time.

G is given to the German national player who currently plays for Inter Milan worth more than £80m.

H is given to Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur, but he won't be joining Manchester United any time soon after a deal broke down between them last year. He's definitely one of the top players in Europe.

I is an easy one as it's Ivan Toney who joined Brentford for just over £20m from Barnsley but will now cost them more than £80m according to bookies, although he still only signed a permanent deal recently.

J is also home to a player who plays for the Spanish national team and is worth more than £81m.

K is given to Kevin De Bruyne's long-time rival at Manchester City worth over 100 times that amount but will not be leaving anytime soon.

L is also an English Premier League player, so you might think he'd fit into the A-Z list. However it does seem that Chelsea have a new deal in place for Kalidou Koulibaly worth more than £80m.

M is home to Mason Mount of Chelsea, who will leave when his contract expires.

N is given to Nathan Trott's England international who has been transferred to Borussia Dortmund worth significantly less than £81m.

O is a bit of an oddball as it falls between two players from different clubs that cost the same amount, both over £80m each. The German national team player at Borussia Dortmund will be joined by another expensive signing by Manchester City and the English national team player in January 2022 worth more than £81m.

P is played by Paul Pogba who is still playing for a Spanish club worth less than £81m after his move to Barcelona was called off last year.

Q is also an oddball as the German national team player at Borussia Dortmund will be joined by another expensive signing by Manchester City and the English national team player in January 2022.

R is also covered by the Spanish international who has been transferred to Manchester United worth more than £81m.

S is a bit of an easy one as it's Stefan Bajic who joined Eintracht Frankfurt for £82.5m but will now cost them significantly less in January 2023 after a deal broke down.

T is home to the German national team player who currently plays for Inter Milan worth more than £80m but we can't name who that is just yet as the season has only just begun.

U is also an English Premier League player, so you might think he'd fit into the A-Z list. However it does seem that Arsenal have signed Martin Odegaard in January 2022 for a reported deal worth more than £80m.

V is given to Victor Osimhen who is one of the top strikers in Europe and will play for a club that cost significantly less than £81m this season.

W is home to Willian's old teammate at Barcelona and Chelsea, who joined Manchester City last year for a record deal worth more than £100 times the amount that some clubs paid just a few years ago.

X has been left out of this list so far because there isn't any information available about what was spent on Xherdan Shaqiri's transfer to Atletico Madrid in 2023, however we do know he cost significantly more than £81m before joining that Spanish club.

Y is an easy one as it's the German national player who currently plays for Inter Milan worth more than £80m.

Z and finally, Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined AC Milan last year and will now be the most expensive transfer from A to Z so far this season.

I'm telling you, something fishy is going on with these massive football transfers. Like, what's the real reason behind all these astronomical prices? Is it just about the money or is there some hidden agenda at play? I mean, Alphonso Davies and Erling Haaland are getting paid over £80m, but what's so special about them that they're worth that kind of cash? And don't even get me started on Cristiano Ronaldo - that £102m move was a clear example of the system being rigged in favor of the big clubs. 🤑👀

I dont get why football clubs need to spend so much money on players 🤔. its just a game right? and what happens when these high priced stars retire or get injured. will they still have the same value as they did when they were playing at their prime? 💸 also, I think its time we shift our focus from just buying expensive players to developing homegrown talent and investing in youth football programs 🏟️

omg i cant even believe how much money they're making these footballers lol 🤯 like who can afford that kind of cash? and i feel bad for fabian delph he's worth less than £81m compared to others but still signed with a good team 💪 gotta respect him anyway 👍

I was just thinking about how I need to organize my bookshelf... it's been bugging me for weeks now! 📚😩 I swear, I had all my favorite novels in alphabetical order, but then I lent them to a friend and now they're all over the place. And you know what's even worse? When you can't find that one specific book you're looking for because it got lost in the shuffle. Ugh! Anyway, back to football... who do you think is going to be the top scorer this season? 🏆👀

LOL can u even believe that AC Milan has spent over 100 MILLION on just ONE player?? like what's wrong with their scouting department? 😂 I mean, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is old news, he's not even 40 anymore! how's he gonna keep up with the young bloods in the league? 🤣 anywayz, this quiz thingy sounds like a lot of fun, i'd love to take on the challenge myself. maybe u can make one and we can play along 🎉

I think it's pretty wild that clubs are spending millions on players like Alphonso Davies 😂💸. I mean, £81m is a crazy amount just for one letter of the alphabet! And what's even crazier is how some players can go from being worth less than £20m to more than £80m in a year 🤯.

I'm surprised Liverpool didn't make it onto this list yet, especially with Jude Bellingham's transfer value 💸. Maybe they'll be next on the A-Z of expensive footballers? And what about some of the other clubs that are linked to Bellingham? Will they break the £81m barrier soon? 🤔
