Former Eagles will get their shot – or another one – at hoisting the Lombardi

Former Eagles Players to Get Another Shot at Hoisting the Lombardi Trophy

As the 2025 Philadelphia Eagles' season came to an end, many fans are left wondering what could have been if their team had repeated as Super Bowl champions. However, for several former Eagles players and coaches, another chance is just around the corner.

In Super Bowl LX this Sunday, a former Eagles player or coach will finally get their moment under the bright lights of Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara. And it won't be just one person – but possibly two or more from the Birds.

One such player who may find himself hoisting the Lombardi Trophy is IDL Milton Williams. A key contributor to the Eagles' defense, Williams has been a force to be reckoned with on the field this season, earning a spot in the Super Bowl despite missing five games due to injury. This will be his third Super Bowl appearance after being drafted by the Eagles as a third-round pick in 2021.

Another former Eagle, WR Mack Hollins, is also looking to add another ring to his collection. A solid role player over the latter half of his career, Hollins has emerged into a key contributor for the New England Patriots, with nearly 700 yards on 46 receptions and two touchdowns last season. If the Seahawks emerge victorious in Super Bowl LX, it would be Hollins' second championship win.

On the other side of the field, former Eagles practice squad player Christian Elliss is also looking to bring home a ring for his new team. Elevated from the practice squad after signing with the Patriots, Elliss has emerged into a starter on defense and will be in contention for the championship if Seattle wins it all.

While some fans might be rooting for their former hometown heroes, others may see this as an opportunity for players like IDL Milton Williams and WR Mack Hollins to prove themselves anew. Who knows? Maybe one of them will even get another shot at hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in future seasons.

Other notable former Eagles players who will be competing in Super Bowl LX include EDGE Patrick Johnson, CB Josh Jobe, FB Brady Russell, CB Tyler Hall, and assistant head coach Leslie Frazier. Will any of these individuals emerge victorious this Sunday? Only time will tell.

I'm telling you, this is a huge opportunity for the NFL to rebrand itself as a developmental league. I mean, players like Milton Williams, Mack Hollins, Christian Elliss... they're all getting a second chance because their teams didn't work out. It's like the NFL is saying, "Hey, we messed up on these guys, so let them try again." 🤔 But at what cost? Is this just a PR stunt to boost ratings? I think it raises some interesting questions about the role of former players in the league. Should they still be competing at this level, or do they deserve to retire with dignity? And what does it say about the NFL's priorities that they're so invested in creating another chance for these players? 🏈

Ugh, great, another chance for these washed-up players to try and relive their glory days 🤦‍♂️. I mean, come on, IDL Milton Williams has been hurt for half the season already, what makes him think he's gonna be any better in the Super Bowl? And don't even get me started on Mack Hollins, he's only getting another shot at a ring because everyone else got injured 🤷‍♂️. It's like they're just phoning it in at this point. And Christian Elliss, elevated from the practice squad to starter, yeah right, good luck with that 😒. Some of these guys might even embarrass themselves on national TV, we'll see how that plays out 💔.

idk why ppl always say the super bowl is about the big name players tho 🤔 it's def not just about them 🤑 all these former eagles players are still got game and deserve another shot at the trophy 🎉 IDL Milton Williams is a beast on the field and Mack Hollins has been solid for the patriots 👍 Christian Elliss's rise to stardom from practice squad is the real MVP 💪 can't wait to see who'll bring home that Lombardi Trophy this sunday!

IDL Milton Williams is my guy, I've been rooting for him since he was drafted and now he's getting a third shot at it 💪 Mack Hollins too, his career has been so underrated but he's killing it with the Patriots right now 🤯 and can you even blame Christian Elliss for trying to bring home a ring after being elevated from the practice squad? 😂 I'm literally tuning in just to see all these former Eagles players go up against each other. It's gonna be such an epic game, I need to see who comes out on top 💥
