I'm getting old for this . Remember when Umeå IK was on fire? It's crazy how much things have changed. Scandinavian clubs just can't compete with these big European teams no more. I mean, Vålerenga made it to the group stage but didn't last long... what a bummer . I get it, Norway's football economy is smaller and all that, but still gotta believe we got some of the best female players in the world coming outta there . We need more investment in facilities and academy programs to develop these girls into top-notch players. That way, maybe we can see more Norwegian teams competing with the big boys in Europe
I think its defo hard for Scandi clubs 2 compete with the big European teams . They need more investment & better infrastructure . We saw it last season when Vålerenga didn't qualify 4 the Champions League knockouts . Thats not surprising given Norway's small football economy . Maybe they can try joining forces with their male teams or focus on grassroots development like Häcken is doin . I think Denmark is onto somethin w/ Nils Nielsen's approach, givin players funding 2 develop first . Scandinavian women's footy may never be the powerhouse it once was , but its still super important 4 player development & future growth
