Kate Hudson responds to ‘monster’ comments by ‘Song Sung Blue’ character’s real-life son

Kate Hudson Responds to 'Monster' Comments from Real-Life Son of Song Sung Blue Character

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, actress Kate Hudson has addressed the drama surrounding her new film "Song Sung Blue", which is loosely based on the life of Neil Diamond. However, it's not just her own role that's gotten attention - but also comments made by the real-life son of the character she plays.

The son, 58-year-old Michael Blake, took to social media to express his outrage over Hudson's portrayal of his late father, Marvin Hamlisch, in the film. He called it "monster" and claimed that he was blindsided by the project.

Hudson has now responded to Blake's comments, saying that she is "deeply sorry" for any hurt or offense caused by her role. She acknowledged that she didn't have a direct conversation with Blake before filming began and that she should have reached out to him sooner.

"I want to assure Michael that my intention was never to offend or disrespect his father," Hudson said in an interview published on The Hollywood Reporter's website. "I had always admired Marvin's work and wanted to pay tribute to him in some way."

Hudson also stated that she will be donating a portion of her salary from the film to charity, with a focus on supporting organizations that benefit children and families.

While Hudson's response has been praised by fans and fellow actors, Blake remains unimpressed. He has since spoken out about his disappointment with the film's portrayal of his father and the fact that Hudson didn't reach out to him before filming began.

The drama surrounding "Song Sung Blue" has highlighted the challenges of portraying real-life characters in biographical films. While Hudson's intentions were likely good, her response to Blake's comments suggests that more thought and planning could have gone into creating a film that respects the lives of those being portrayed.

In any case, it seems that Hudson is committed to making things right with Blake and his family. Whether or not that will be enough to salvage the drama surrounding "Song Sung Blue" remains to be seen.

I don’t usually comment but I think Kate Hudson sounds really genuine in her apology 🙏. It's clear she didn't know who Marvin Hamlisch's son was and that she was trying to do something nice, you know? But at the same time, it’s crazy that Michael Blake felt so blindsided by the whole thing 😕. I mean, even though his dad is a legendary composer, he's still a person with feelings, right? And it would've been really cool if they could've had a chat about it before filming started 🤝. But kudos to Kate for at least being willing to listen and make amends 💖. Maybe we can just hope that she does some good for those charities 🎉.

😒 I mean, can't Kate Hudson just Google her character's son before playing him in a film? Like, 5 seconds of research would've saved everyone this drama 🤦‍♀️. And now she's donating to charity, but that's not gonna fix the fact that she didn't even talk to Michael Blake before filming started... That's some bad planning, Kate 👎

Ugh, this whole thing is giving me LIFE 🤯! I mean, can you even imagine having your dad's life portrayed on screen without being asked first?! 😱 Kate Hudson's response seems super genuine, and donating to charity is a great move - but at the same time, it feels like she should've reached out to Michael Blake sooner. Like, wouldn't that have been a nice touch? 🤔 The drama surrounding this film is kinda a cautionary tale about how hard it can be to balance art with respect for real-life characters... guess we'll just have to wait and see if Kate's efforts will be enough to salvage things 💕

I think Kate Hudson's response shows she's willing to listen & try to fix things... but maybe a more personal conversation with Michael Blake before filming would've been better? 🤔 It's easy to say sorry, but it's harder to take action & make things right when hurt feels real. I hope both sides can find common ground & move forward in a positive way 💖

🤗 u know i was thinking about dis movie 'song sung blue'... & how kate hudson got roasted by her son... 🚨 it's kinda sad, but at the same time i get why he's upset... i mean, who wouldn't want their dad portrayed accurately in a biopic? 💔 especially when u feel like ur life is being dramatized or twisted for entertainment value. 🤷‍♀️ kate hudson seems genuinely sorry & willing to make amends, which is cool! 💕 and yay for her donating to charity... that's some good karma right there! 🌟

I feel so bad for Kate Hudson 🤕 she's really sorry and wants to make it right with Michael Blake, you know, you can tell she means it 💕 her response is super gracious and generous too, donating a portion of her salary to charity... that's just amazing! 🎁 I'm not surprised that the fans are praising her though, she's always been known for being down-to-earth and kind-hearted. 🤗 But I get why Michael Blake might be still upset, it's gotta be really tough to see your dad portrayed in a film when you're not even consulted beforehand 😔 anyway, fingers crossed that Kate can win him over and make things right 💕

🤔 I feel bad for Kate Hudson, she's really trying to make amends here... donating to charity and all 💖 But it's also kinda cool that she acknowledged her mistake and is willing to listen 🗣️ Problem is, the real-life son of Marvin Hamlisch still doesn't seem satisfied 😐. Like, I get it, his dad was a legend and anyone playing him in a biopic needs to be on their A-game 💪 But maybe if more people had talked to Michael Blake before filming started, they could've avoided all this drama 🤦‍♀️ Guess that's just the price of making art out of someone else's story...

OMG, I'm so invested in this whole thing 🤯! Kate Hudson is literally trying her best here, but it's like she didn't think things through 🙈. Don't get me wrong, I love a good biopic drama #TeamKate, but this is just a huge mistake 🚨. Like, who doesn't reach out to the real-life son of a character before making a film about them?! 🤷‍♀️ It's all about respect and being considerate, you feel? 💯. Now, I'm not saying she should've known Michael Blake existed beforehand, but still... Communication is key, people! 📢 Don't be surprised if this drama doesn't die down anytime soon #DramaAlert

I feel bad for Kate Hudson, she's really sorry about how it all went down 🤕. It's gotta be tough being in someone else's shoes and having a personal connection to the character you're playing. I'm not surprised that Michael Blake was upset, I mean who wouldn't be if they felt like their dad was being misrepresented? 🙅‍♂️

I don't think it's an easy thing for actors to do, especially when it comes to biopics - there's always a risk of stepping on someone's toes. But Hudson's willingness to listen and make things right is a good start 💡.

It's also cool that she's planning to donate some of her salary to charity 🎉. I think that says more about who she is as a person than just her response to Blake's comments 👍.

🤷‍♀️ I feel bad for Kate Hudson, she didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings 🙏. But at the same time, I think it's kinda messed up that Michael Blake wasn't in the loop about his dad's life being portrayed on screen 📺. It's all about respect and communication, you know? Like, if you're gonna play someone's character, make sure you talk to them first 💬. But props to Kate for acknowledging her mistakes and trying to make it right 💕. Maybe they can do a better promo or something to show more love and care for the real-life characters 🤗.

just saw this drama unfold 🤦‍♀️... think kate hudson's response is decent, acknowledges her mistakes & willing to make amends by donating to charity 💖. but gotta wonder how much more planning/communication could've gone into this project to avoid the whole thing 😕. as an actor, i know how hard it is to balance creative vision with respecting those being portrayed... maybe just a big ol' lesson learned for all of us 🤓

🤔 this whole situation just feels kinda awkward... like Kate's trying super hard to make amends, but I'm still thinkin' it would've been better if she'd just reached out to Michael Blake before filming started? 🤷‍♀️ i mean, 58 yrs old and his dad's still gettin' dissed on the big screen... 🙅‍♂️ that's some harsh stuff. but kudos to her for donatin' a portion of her salary to charity - that's definitely a good look 😊. it just makes me wonder how much more coulda been done to make this whole thing less messy, y'know? 👀
