Man rides out tornado inside van. See the footage | CNN

A man narrowly escaped a devastating tornado by taking refuge in his pest control van, which served as an unlikely shelter from the storm.

According to eyewitness accounts and footage shared on social media, Cody Coombes found himself at the center of the chaos when an EF-3 tornado tore through Pulaski and Lonoke counties in Arkansas. The tornado, which was estimated to have reached peak winds of 165 miles per hour, caused widespread destruction and loss of life.

In a stunning display of survival instincts, Coombes sought shelter inside his pest control van, where he rode out the storm's fury. The footage shows the tornado ripping through the streets outside, causing buildings to crumble and trees to snap in two. Meanwhile, Coombes is seen huddled safely inside his van, which appeared to provide him with some protection from the storm.

The National Weather Service reported that one person lost their life in North Little Rock and four people were killed in Wynne as a result of the tornado's devastating impact.

As the nation struggles to come to terms with the devastation caused by this powerful storm, many are left wondering how Coombes managed to escape the tornado's deadly path. The footage of his ordeal serves as a chilling reminder of the dangers posed by severe weather and the importance of staying informed about potential threats in our communities.

The full story can be viewed on CNN's website, where viewers can also learn more about the storm's impact and how it has affected those in its path.

๐Ÿคฏ Can you imagine being that close to a tornado and then just driving away from it like nothing's wrong? I mean, Cody Coombes' pest control van is basically an indestructible fortress... or so it seems. The fact that he managed to stay safe in there is pretty wild, but at the same time, it's also super concerning - what if his van had broken down inside the storm? It's just another reminder of how unpredictable severe weather can be.

I'm also really glad that people are sharing this story online because it highlights just how important being prepared and staying informed is when it comes to natural disasters. We've seen some crazy footage of people surviving in their cars or under bridges, but this one takes the cake. I think we can all learn a thing or two from Cody's instincts on this one... ๐Ÿšจ

๐Ÿคฏ I mean, have you seen that video of Cody Coombes riding out the tornado in his pest control van? That guy is a total rockstar! I'm glad he was able to escape with his life. It's crazy to think about how lucky he was - if he hadn't had that van as a shelter, who knows what would've happened?

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the scale of destruction this tornado caused. Four people lost their lives? That's just devastating. I hope everyone affected by the storm is getting the support they need.

You know, it's moments like these that make you appreciate the little things in life - a safe place to take cover when disaster strikes. Coombes' van might not be the fanciest thing, but it ended up saving his life! ๐Ÿšง

omg what is this world!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ i cant even imagine being stuck in a van during a tornado lol like how did he even think of that? sounds crazy but like super lucky that his pest control thingy worked out for him ๐Ÿคฏ at the same time kinda sad that so many ppl lost their lives ๐ŸŒช๏ธ hope everyone is doin alright and that the community is supportin each other during this tough time ๐Ÿ’•

omg that dude is so lucky! I mean, i wouldve freaked out if i was stuck in a van during a tornado lol! did they find out what the van was even used for again? pest control? and yeah 165 miles per hour is crazy that's like a plane taking off or something. my grandpa told me about this one time when he got caught in a thunderstorm as a kid...

"Just when you think you've seen it all, Mother Nature reminds us that there's still so much power in her hands ๐ŸŒช๏ธ"

P.S. "The best-laid schemes of mice and men often go awry" - Robert Burns (can't imagine what the guy was thinking driving around with a pest control van...luckily he made it out alive!)

omg that's crazy lol what kind of pest control is worth saving for? ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ˜‚ i mean no seriously tho that van must've been pretty sturdy or something. i'm glad he made it out alive, but also kinda sad that more people weren't so lucky ๐Ÿ’” did the authorities check his van for any damage before he came out? and what kind of training does a pest control guy get in case of emergencies like this? ๐Ÿค”

This is just so crazy!!! I mean, Cody Coombes' van literally saved his life ๐Ÿ˜ฑ! I'm still trying to wrap my head around it, a pest control van as a shelter from a tornado? It's like something out of a movie or a horror game ๐Ÿคฏ. And the footage is just insane, I mean, those winds must have been crazy strong... 165 miles per hour?! That's like, whoa ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. Four lives lost and one more person could've been gone too if Coombes hadn't thought to take cover in his van. This is a total reminder of how unpredictable the weather can be and how important it is to stay safe during severe storms โ›ˆ๏ธ. I'm just glad he's okay, that must have been a harrowing experience for him ๐Ÿค•.

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ, this guy Cody Coombes is like the ultimate survival master ๐Ÿ˜‚! I mean who needs a fancy emergency shelter when you've got a pest control van, right? It's like he raided a hardware store and said "I'm good" ๐Ÿ›๏ธ. The fact that it protected him from the tornado is just wild - maybe it's like Fort Knox for critters... or in this case, insects ๐Ÿ’ช! Anyway, I guess you could say his day was filled with a little 'pest' control ๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ˜‚. R.I.P to those who lost their lives, though. Can we get some storm shelters made out of these vans now? That'd be a game-changer โ›ˆ๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ!

๐Ÿค” I'm not convinced that a pest control van would provide actual protection from a tornado. It's probably just a weird coincidence that Coombes happened to be inside his vehicle when the tornado hit. Has anyone looked into whether there were any other factors at play, like wind direction or nearby buildings? ๐Ÿšจ

It does sound pretty lucky that he was in his van when the tornado came through. I mean, what are the chances that the storm just decided to spare his vehicle and not, say, a nearby building or a tree branch? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Still, you've got to give Coombes points for staying calm and safe during the whole ordeal. Maybe he's some kind of natural disaster expert in the making? ๐Ÿค“ But I'm still waiting on more info before I believe this story is entirely true... ๐Ÿ‘€

๐Ÿšจ just saw this crazy vid of a guy who took shelter in his pest control van from a tornado OMG 165mph winds is insane i guess that van was like a bunker or something lol how do u even prepare for that kinda thing? ๐Ÿ’ก anyone have tips on what to do during a tornado? ๐Ÿค”

man that guy coombes got some serious skills ๐Ÿคฏ! i mean who else is gonna think to hide out in a pest control van during a tornado? lol he must've had like, experience with those things or something. seriously though, can you imagine being outside when one of those things hits? it's crazy how that van held up and kept him safe. the national weather service should totes update their emergency guides to include "pest control vans as shelter options" ๐Ÿ’ก
