Manchester United to confirm Michael Carrick as interim manager

Manchester United to Confirm Michael Carrick as Interim Manager, With Funds at Disposal for Long-Term Target

Manchester United is set to announce Michael Carrick as its interim manager on Tuesday, paving the way for the 44-year-old to strengthen the squad with the club's finances behind him. Carrick's appointment comes after Darren Fletcher took charge of two games since Ruben Amorim's sacking, and he will be given a chance to join the coaching team.

A former midfielder at Manchester United, who won 10 major honors during his playing days, Carrick has identified Jonathan Woodgate as another potential member of his staff. The Middlesbrough manager will oversee 136 matches for Carrick, winning 63 and losing 49.

With midfield being a position the club aims to strengthen, Al-Ḥilal's Rúben Neves is the target at around £20m. If the Portuguese midfielder becomes available, Manchester United have funds set aside to make a deal or sign another player from their transfer wishlist.

Carrick's interim role will be his first time managing the team, with his first match coming against Manchester City in the derby on Saturday. The 17 league games he'll face mark an attempt by Carrick to take United to Champions League qualification, with the club third in the table, three points behind Liverpool's fourth spot.

Despite being eliminated from the FA Cup and League Cup competitions, Manchester United will play only 40 games this season - their lowest number since 1914-15.

aww man... it's so sad that darren fletcher took over but he didn't quite get the results they needed 🤕 anyway, michael carrick is like a legend coming back to save the day! i'm sure his experience and knowledge will bring stability to the team 💪 he deserves it after all those amazing years playing for man utd 🙌 136 wins out of 136 matches with jonathan woodgate? that's some serious coachin' skills 🔥 lets hope carrick can get them into the champions league qualification spots, they really need a boost right now 😊

can't believe how crazy the transfer market is atm 🤯... just think about it, they're gonna splurge £20m on Rúben Neves to try and get us back in the Champions League qualification spots... sounds like a solid plan to me, but then again, I'm no football expert 😅. what's interesting is that Carrick's got some solid experience under his belt as a midfielder and he knows what we need in midfield... fingers crossed he can make some magic happen at Old Trafford 🤞

I'm so excited about Carrick taking over at Old Trafford 🤩! A seasoned pro like him who knows the team's history is exactly what we need right now 💡. I mean, can you imagine how refreshing it'll be to see a manager who's all about stability and continuity? No more drama with coaches coming and going... just a steady hand to steer us back to the top 🌟. Plus, signing Rúben Neves is a no-brainer - he's one of the best midfielders out there! The fact that we've got funds set aside for him means Carrick can focus on assembling a strong squad without breaking the bank 💸. Can't wait for the derby against City and hopefully making it to the Champions League next season 🏆!

OMG 🤩 I'm low-key hyped about this move! Michael Carrick is like a dark horse, right? I mean, he's been playing for the team his whole life and now he gets to be in charge 😂. And let's be real, 10 major honors? The dude is a legend 💯! I love how he's got Woodgate on board too, they're gonna make an unstoppable combo 👊. Now we just gotta see him bring that magic to the dugout and get us into the Champions League 🏆🔥. And can you imagine beating Man City in the derby under Carrick? SICK 🔴💪!

🤦‍♂️ I mean, who wouldn't want to manage a team that's already lost in the FA Cup and League Cup? Sounds like Carrick's got his work cut out for him... literally. 😂 But seriously, £20m for Rúben Neves? That's some serious cash for a midfielder who can hold his own. I'm not saying he's the answer to United's midfield prayers or anything, but it's a start. And hey, if Carrick's got a plan and can't mess it up (which is a tall ask), maybe we'll see United back in the Champions League within a few years. 🤞

idk about carrick tho 🤔 i mean he won some trophies at man utd but hasnt managed them before...what makes him think he can turn things around now? also £20m for neves is a bit steep if u ask me 😒 they could get similar players cheaper elsewhere...and what about the squad depth? are we really gonna rely on carrick's coaching skills to make us champions again? 🤷‍♂️

I don't know if I trust Carrick as a manager... like what makes him qualified to take over a team that's struggling? He played for United, yeah, but being a midfielder doesn't automatically make you a great coach 🤔. And another thing, £20m for Rúben Neves? That's crazy! Where did Manchester United get all this money from? They've been making losses left and right... how can they afford to spend so much on transfers? 🤑 I need some sources on this before I start believing the hype

I'm loving this move by Man U! Getting Michael Carrick on board is a total win in my books 🤩 He's got that winning mentality from his playing days and I think he'll bring some stability to the team. Plus, having the funds to strengthen the squad is a huge bonus - they can pick up someone like Rúben Neves and make it happen! 🔥 The fact that Carrick's first match is against City in the derby on Saturday is gonna be intense 🎉 And I love how he's trying to take the team to Champions League qualification - 17 games is a challenge, but I think they can do it 💪

Ugh, this is gonna be a struggle 🤦‍♂️... I mean, I love Michael Carrick as a player, but come on, interim manager? Can't they just give him a decent deal and make it a permanent gig already? 🤑 It's like they're trying to string him along. And what about the fans? They want stability, not some stopgap solution. And don't even get me started on the squad strengthening... £20m for Rúben Neves? That's just too much money 🤯... I mean, what if he doesn't work out? Do they just waste that kind of cash? 😬

I'm loving the idea of Michael Carrick coming in as interim manager at Man Utd 🤩! He's got that leadership vibe going on from his playing days and I think he'll be able to whip the squad into shape pretty quickly ⏱️. Now let's hope they can sign that Rúben Neves guy, he'd be a great addition to the midfield 💪! Carrick knows what it takes to win big and I trust him to make some smart transfers to strengthen the team 🤑. Can't wait for the derby match against City on Saturday ⚽️, should be an epic battle 🔥

man i'm not expecting much from man u this season, 17 league games isn't enough to make a difference in their table 😅, they need to bring in some serious talent if carrick wants to take them to the next level 💸, rúben neves would be a good start but £20m is steep 🤑, hopefully carrick can do something right for once 🤞

just hope carrick can bring some much needed stability to the team 🤞... been following man utd for ages, but it's clear they need someone who knows what they're doing on and off the pitch 😬... all this financial muscle isn't gonna do them any good if they don't put in the work 🏋️‍♂️... and 17 games to get to champs league qualification? that's ambitious, but i like it 💪... one thing i'll be watching is how carrick handles the derby against man city on saturday ⚽️... think he'll need to keep a level head if they wanna take down their arch rivals 🤔

OMG, I'm low-key hyped for Michael Carrick to take over as interim manager at Manchester United 🤩! The dude has got experience on his side, having won 10 major honors during his playing days – can you imagine the stories he'll tell? 😂 Plus, he's already got a solid plan in place, with Jonathan Woodgate joining him as part of the coaching staff. That midfield makeover is gonna be fire 🔥! Al-Ḥilal's Rúben Neves would be an amazing addition too – that £20m price tag might just make it happen 💸. Now, can they take United to Champions League qualification? 🏆 Carrick's got this, I trust him 😎

I'm super hyped for Michael Carrick to take over at Old Trafford 🙌! He's got a wealth of experience as a player and now as a coach, which is exactly what the Red Devils need right now 💪. I think it's great that he's been given funds to strengthen the squad - we've seen what happens when teams don't invest enough in midfield ⚽️. Rúben Neves would be a fantastic signing, but let's not forget about other talented players on the wishlist like Fernandes 🤞. With Carrick at the helm, I'm thinking they might just pull off that Champions League spot 🔴⚪️. It's going to be an interesting ride with him leading the team - bring it on! 👊
