‘Marty Supreme’ is a masterpiece you’ll never want to watch again - Detroit Metro Times

"Marty Supreme" is a cinematic experience that will leave you breathless, but not in a good way. This arthouse masterpiece is a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but one that's more exhausting than exhilarating.

At its core, "Marty Supreme" is about the protagonist Marty Mauser, a ping pong prodigy with a deeply ingrained narcissism and a penchant for self-destruction. Played by Timothée Chalamet, Marty is a complex character who embodies the dark underbelly of the American dream. As we follow him on his journey to the top of the ping pong world, we're forced to confront our own complicity in the pursuit of success at any cost.

Josh Safdie's direction is nothing short of breathtaking. His use of long takes, claustrophobic close-ups, and a pulsating score create a sense of tension that's almost palpable. The film's cinematography is equally impressive, capturing the grit and grime of 1950s America with unflinching realism.

But "Marty Supreme" isn't just a showcase for Safdie's technical prowess; it's also a scathing critique of our societal obsession with success and self-reliance. Marty's relentless pursuit of ping pong glory is mirrored in the American dream itself, with all its empty promises and hollow ideals.

As the film wears on, you'll find yourself questioning everything about Marty – his motivations, his morals, even your own complicity in the system. It's a film that makes you feel absolutely everything, from exhilaration to exhaustion, and leaves you wondering what it is you truly want out of life.

"Marty Supreme" is a masterpiece, but one that's not for everyone. If you're looking for a relaxing cinematic experience, this might not be the film for you. But if you're willing to confront your own demons and question the very fabric of our society, then "Marty Supreme" is an absolute must-see.

In short, "Marty Supreme" is a film that will leave you breathless – but not in a good way. It's a thought-provoking, emotionally charged experience that's more exhausting than exhilarating. But if you're up for the challenge, it's a journey worth taking.

I'm not sure I'd say "Marty Supreme" is a masterpiece... 🤔 I mean, it sounds like it's just gonna be a super intense watch where you'll feel all the feels but might need to take a shower afterwards too 😅. The whole thing about societal obsession with success and self-reliance sounds kinda heavy, and I'm not sure how much of that is actually being said rather than just being shown 🤷‍♂️. Still, if you're into that sorta thing, I guess it could be a good way to challenge yourself... just don't say I didn't warn you 😅

im not sure what just happened i mean i felt like i was on a wild ride with marty but not in a good way lol its like the film is trying to say something about how obsessed we are with success and it just gets really intense 🤯 anyway if you're looking for a movie that'll make you question everything go watch marty supreme i guess 👀

🤯 this film is like a punch to the gut, i mean, timothée chalamet as marty mauser is just mesmerizing, but at the same time, you can't help but feel like he's just being a toxic mess on screen. and josh safdie's direction is indeed breathtaking, it's like he's taking all these intense emotions and swirling them around your head in a vortex of cinematic hell.

i love how the film critiques our societal obsession with success and self-reliance, it's like, we're all just trying to climb this impossible mountain and reach the top, but what if we're not even climbing for the right reasons? what if we're just running on autopilot, trying to keep up appearances?

anyway, "marty supreme" is definitely not a film for everyone, but for those who are willing to take on the emotional rollercoaster, it's like... have you ever felt like you're trapped in a never-ending nightmare and you can't wake up? that's what this film is like.

🤯 I gotta say, this movie sounds like a wild ride 🎠... but not in a good way 😩. It's like, it's trying to make you feel all these emotions and question everything about life, which can be overwhelming 💔. But at the same time, it's like, really thought-provoking and makes you think about what we're all striving for and if it's worth it 🤷‍♀️. I'm not sure if I'd want to sit through that kind of emotional rollercoaster again 😓... but hey, if you're into that sorta thing, go for it! It sounds like a real mental journey 🚣‍♂️...

🤯 I think people are being too harsh on this film. Timothée Chalamet gives an incredible performance as Marty Mauser - he's so complex and multi-dimensional that you can't help but be drawn in by his charisma, even when you're screaming at him to stop his self-destructive tendencies 🙄. The cinematography is stunning, and Josh Safdie's direction is masterful - it's clear that he's not afraid to push boundaries or make audiences uncomfortable.

I love how the film makes you question everything about Marty and yourself. It's like a mirror held up to society, reflecting all our darker impulses back at us 💡. Yes, it can be exhausting to watch, but that's exactly what makes it so impactful - it's like a punch in the gut, making you feel all the feels.

I'm not buying into the whole "it's too intense" or "not for everyone" criticism 🤷‍♂️. If people are feeling overwhelmed, maybe they're just not ready to confront their own demons? 🤔 Give "Marty Supreme" a chance, and I think you'll be blown away by its raw emotion and thought-provoking themes 💥

Ugh I just watched "Marty Supreme" and I'm still trying to catch my breath lol 😅 I mean I love Timothée Chalamet but this film is like 10 hours long and its just soooo intense 🤯 The cinematography is insane and the score gives me chills every time 🎵 But at the same time I felt like I was being mentally drained the whole time 🙄 I'm still trying to process everything that happened in that film and I'm not sure if I liked it or hated it lol 😂 Maybe its just me but I think thats what makes it so great?

omg u gotta see this new movie "Marty Supreme" 🤯 its like a rollercoaster ride of emotions but in a bad way lol its about this ping pong prodigy who's all narcissistic and self-destructive and timothée chalamet plays him like he's on fire 🔥 the director does an amazing job w/ the camera work and score it gives me major anxiety just watching it 😅 but i think thats what makes it so good? its not just a movie, its a commentary on how far we'll go to be successful and how messed up that is 🤯 idk if im gonna watch it again tho lol

🙄 so just what we need another overhyped art film that's trying too hard to be deep and meaningful 🤯 timothée chalamet's character is literally the most annoying person on screen - who can't stand his narcissistic tendencies 🙃 and don't even get me started on the score 🎵 it's like they took every pretentious indie film soundtrack and mashed them all together into one big headache 😩

🤯 I gotta say, this movie Marty Supreme is like a rollercoaster of emotions - it's wild, but not in a good way 😩. The direction by Josh Safdie is insane, I mean, that cinematography and score are straight fire 🔥! But what really got me thinking was how the film critiques our societal obsession with success and self-reliance. It's like, we're all chasing this American dream, but what if it's just a myth? 🤔 Marty Mauser is such a complex character, I found myself questioning everything about him - his motivations, morals, even my own! 💭

idk about this one... sounds like a total downer 🤔 they're saying its a "masterpiece" but also that its "exhausting" and will make u question everythin? thats not exactly what i'd call a "cinematic experience" 😒 especially if its gonna leave u feelin drained 💀 i mean, cant we just have a movie where the good guy wins and everyone lives happily ever after for once? 🎥👏

ugh i just saw this movie and i'm still trying to process everything 🤯 it's like, i get what the director is going for but sometimes i felt like i was stuck in an existential crisis 🚨 i mean, marty's character is so messed up and relatable at the same time? idk man, i think the film is more like a commentary on how messed up we are as a society rather than just being about ping pong 🤸‍♂️ what did u guys think of it tho? 😅

I'm thinking of how many people are gonna be okay with watching this intense flick 😅. I mean, we all know some of us love exploring our darker emotions on screen, but others might find themselves feeling drained after 2 hours 🤯. What do you guys think? Are you ready for a cinematic rollercoaster that'll make you question everything about yourself and the world around you? 🤔
