Michael O'Brien's Super 25 high school basketball rankings for Jan. 18, 2026

No Movement at the Top, Drama Ahead in Super 25 Showdowns

The top 12 teams in the Super 25 high school basketball rankings remain unchanged this week, with no movement expected among the top three. The highly anticipated Joe Henricksen's When Sides Collide Shootout on Saturday could finally bring some drama to the rankings. Top-ranked Benet faces off against Warren, second-seeded DePaul Prep takes on No. 7 Marist, and No. 9 Neuqua Valley squares off against No. 8 Bolingbrook in a thrilling doubleheader.

Newcomers Cary-Grove and Glenbrook North make their debut this week in the Super 25 rankings. Cary-Grove has been on the cusp of joining the rankings after its convincing win over Waukegan in November, and the Trojans have now won nine consecutive games. Glenbrook North's impressive undefeated record with wins against Deerfield, Maine South, and New Trier caught everyone off guard, as did their narrow 47-41 loss to Fremd at the Wheeling Hardwood Classic.

On the other hand, St. Laurence and New Trier have struggled this week after both losing two games each. The Trevians played well without Chris Kirkpatrick initially but hit a rough patch. St. Laurence's performance was also affected by the loss of their standout player.

The rankings are as follows:

1. Benet (20-1)
2. DePaul Prep (17-3)
3. Curie (18-1)
4. Kankakee (15-1)
5. St. Ignatius (19-2)
6. Warren (16-1)
7. Marist (18-2)
8. Bolingbrook (12-5)
9. Neuqua Valley (18-1)
10. Evanston (16-3)
11. Waukegan (15-5)
12. Homewood-Flossmoor (16-2)

The teams moving up the rankings include No. 13 Fremd, No. 14 Mount Carmel, and No. 15 Glenbard East. Loyola is still ranked at No. 16 despite its tough rivalry week ahead.

Rounds out the top 25 are Palatine, Young, Hersey, Kaneland, Glenbard North, York, Hillcrest, and Cary-Grove, who makes their debut in the rankings with a strong record of 18-2.

so these new teams entering the Super 25 are making waves 🌊 i mean cary grove is on fire with 9 consecutive wins and glenbrook north's undefeated streak is insane 😲 but what about st laurence and new trier? two tough losses for them this week πŸ€” seems like they're still adjusting after losing their standout players ⏰ gotta keep an eye on these teams as the season heats up πŸ”₯

im lovin the drama that's gonna go down this weekend at the Joe Henricksen shootout 🀯 benet and warren have been on a hot streak but i think marist is gonna give them a run for their money πŸ’ͺ dePaul prep has been looking solid but i'm still worried about those 3rd place games against curie... that's where it all falls apart ⚠️ also got to give some props to glenbrook north, coming out of nowhere like that and makin a statement πŸ™Œ

can u believe there's still so much drama to be had without any of these top teams actually moving up the rankings? i mean warren & dePaul prep are like, super hyped for this weekend's games but honestly who cares when we don't see any changes in the top 3 πŸ€”πŸ’₯ it's gonna be interesting to see how they perform though. and wow cary-grove just jumped into the rankings with an 18-2 record that's some serious business πŸ€‘

OMG 😲, I'm so hyped for this week's Super 25 showdowns πŸ€! The Joe Henricksen When Sides Collide Shootout is gonna bring some serious drama to the rankings πŸ’₯. Benet's been on fire πŸ”₯ but they gotta face Warren and DePaul Prep, those guys are strong too 🀯. I'm loving the rise of newcomers Cary-Grove and Glenbrook North πŸ‘, their undefeated records are insane πŸ™Œ. St. Laurence and New Trier have been struggling though 😞, hope they can bounce back from their losses πŸ’ͺ. Who's gonna be the one to shake up the top three? πŸ€” Can't wait to see it all go down on Saturday! πŸ“Ί

πŸ€πŸ’₯ I think it's gonna be super interesting to see how the teams play out this week πŸ€” especially in that Joe Henricksen's When Sides Collide Shootout πŸ“Ί! The newcomers Cary-Grove and Glenbrook North are looking πŸ”₯ fierce with their undefeated records πŸ™Œ. On the other hand, St Laurence is having a bit of a slump 😐 losing two games in a row... πŸ’” I'm curious to see how they bounce back from that 🀞. And I love how Loyola's still holding strong at 16th place despite their tough rivalry week ahead πŸ’ͺ! Can't wait for the action-packed matchups πŸŽ‰πŸ’₯

πŸ€ so i was saying, super 25 showdowns coming up is gonna be fire πŸ”₯! benet's undefeated streak is on the line against warren, and de paul prep takes on marist, those games are gonna be intense πŸ’₯ also, cary-grove's been killing it lately 🀩 but gotta wonder how they'll hold up in the rankings with all these tough matchups ahead of them. and u can't forget about st laurence, they need to bounce back from that rough patch πŸ‘Ž

[πŸ€”πŸ‘€] Teams like Cary-Grove and Glenbrook North are making waves with their impressive wins... but will they be able to sustain it? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ [GIF of a basketball player tripping over his own feet]

[Image of Benet's logo with a "no drama" filter] Meanwhile, the top teams seem solid for now... no surprises there 😴 [πŸ˜‚ emoji]

so like the Super 25 Showdowns thingy is gonna be lit πŸ”₯ can't wait to see Benet take on Warren, DePaul Prep go head-to-head with Marist, and Neuqua Valley battle it out against Bolingbrook! these doubleheaders are always so intense 🀯 and newcomers Cary-Grove and Glenbrook North making their debut? πŸŽ‰ that's exciting to see how they'll fit into the rankings. St. Laurence and New Trier having a rough patch though πŸ€• gotta feel for those teams, losing to Fremd and Maine South was tough 😳 still, these matchups are gonna be crucial in determining who makes a move up or down the ranks πŸ”„ what's your take on it? πŸ€”

I'm so confused about these basketball teams I don't really get how they're ranked πŸ€”. Like, why is Benet number one? And what's up with all these schools? Are they like private or public? πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

So, there's this big game on Saturday and it sounds kinda cool πŸŽ‰. But I don't know who's playing against whom. Can someone explain that to me? πŸ˜…

And, um, what's up with the teams that are losing games? Like, St. Laurence and New Trier... how do they still have a chance? πŸ€”

I'm also kinda curious about these school names... like, Benet is short for something? And what's with all the weird abbreviations? πŸ˜‚

I'm hyped for this shootout on Sat 🀩, Benet vs Warren is gonna be lit πŸ”₯! Been waiting to see how those teams match up, Curie's been looking solid too but gotta keep an eye on DePaul Prep, they're still undefeated so far πŸ’―. Also, I love seeing some new faces like Cary-Grove and Glenbrook North making their debut, these doubleheaders are gonna be fire πŸ”₯!

I gotta say, these Super 25 teams are gonna bring it out when they play each other! The When Sides Collide Shootout on Saturday is gonna be epic! I'm loving how Cary-Grove and Glenbrook North finally made the cut with their impressive records. Those newcomers are giving the veterans a run for their money! But, you know, when it comes to rankings, sometimes you gotta lose a game or two before you can win big... St. Laurence and New Trier need to bounce back from those losses πŸ€”πŸ€
