Roblox, James Bond and a billion-dollar video game – here are our most-read gaming stories of 2025

As we wrap up another eventful year in the world of gaming, it's clear that 2025 has been marked by both immense excitement and growing concerns. The best games of the year have undoubtedly captured our attention, but beneath the surface, there's a sense of unease about their place in the real world.

Roblox, for instance, has been a focal point of discussion, particularly when it comes to child safety. The platform's ease of use and vast user base – over 150 million daily users, many of whom are children – have raised serious questions about the potential risks associated with unregulated online interactions. As Sarah Martin reported in her article "My chilling week on Roblox: sexually assaulted and shat on as a child avatar roaming the online world," it's alarming to note just how easily young users can fall prey to harassment and exploitation.

On a more lighthearted note, Keith Stuart's feature piece "I cannot stop playing this preposterous game about falling down a mountain" has struck a chord with many readers. His honest account of spending over 12 hours playing Baby Steps, only to emerge feeling defeated, is a relatable testament to the addictive nature of some games.

Meanwhile, Sega fans have been treated to a fascinating tribute in Keith Stuart's article "Master System at 40: the truth about Sega's most underrated console." This beautifully researched piece shines a light on an oft-overlooked console that was instrumental in shaping the gaming landscape of Europe during the 1980s and 1990s.

Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur behind Tesla and SpaceX, has also found himself at the center of attention – albeit for all the wrong reasons. His boastful claims about his gaming prowess were quickly debunked when it emerged that he had been cheating in online games. This embarrassing incident was just one of many self-own moments from Musk's 2025.

The world of politics has also intersected with the gaming community, as reported by Alyssa Mercante in "Why Trump's White House is using video game memes to recruit for ICE." This disturbing trend highlights the ways in which games are being co-opted by those seeking to exploit their cultural significance. It serves as a stark reminder that our online spaces can be both powerful tools and vulnerable targets.

As we bid farewell to 2025, it's worth noting that one of the most anticipated releases of next year is 007 First Light – the latest Bond game from IO Interactive. In an interview with Joshua Rivera, we gain insight into the development process behind this highly anticipated title.

In other news, the world of gaming has seen a resurgence in classic consoles and games. From Guitar Hero to Rock Band, these beloved titles are once again bringing people together through music and gameplay.

As we look ahead to 2026, it's clear that the gaming landscape will continue to evolve – with its share of triumphs and pitfalls. What can you expect from our coverage next year? Stay tuned for more analysis, features, and reviews from the world of gaming.

🚨 Gaming in 2025 has been a mixed bag - on one hand, we've got amazing games that are blowing minds 🤯 like Baby Steps which is literally so addictive it's like a bad habit 😂 and Master System at 40 which is giving Sega fans all the feels nostalgia-wise 💫.

But on the other hand, there are some serious concerns about online safety, especially for kids, and Roblox is a major part of that 🤕. It's wild to think about how easily young users can get exploited or harassed online 😳.

And can we talk about Elon Musk for a second? 🙄 Cheating in games is no joke and it just shows his ego getting the best of him 💁‍♂️.

Anyway, I'm stoked to see classic consoles and games making a comeback - Guitar Hero and Rock Band are still so much fun 🎸. And lastly, I'm hyped for 007 First Light which is going to be epic 🔫. Bring on 2026 and let's see what the gaming world has in store! 💥

Roblox is basically a giant playground for kids and it's literally just begging to happen. You gotta think about all those kiddos online with no adult supervision, it's just asking for trouble. And Elon Musk cheating at video games? I mean come on, that's not even a surprise anymore. He's always been one to hype things he can't actually deliver.

And don't even get me started on the whole White House using video game memes to recruit ICE agents... that's straight out of some dystopian sci-fi movie. It's like they think games are just some tool for brainwashing people or something.

On a lighter note, I love how Keith Stuart always manages to find these hidden gems in the gaming world. Baby Steps is such an underrated game and I'm glad someone finally gave it the attention it deserves. But at the same time, 12 hours of playing that game sounds like a marathon session even for a hardcore gamer.

The Master System is definitely due some love though... Sega was ahead of its time with that console and it's crazy how often people overlook it. IO Interactive better bring their A-game with 007 First Light or they'll be hearing about it from me 😒

🤔 I'm kinda worried about Roblox and how easily kids are getting harassed on there 🚨👦. It's like, they're basically left alone in this online world with no real protection or adult supervision. As a parent, it freaks me out just thinking about it 🤕. We need to find ways to keep our kids safe online and make sure they know how to handle situations like this 💻. Can't we do better than this? 😊

Ugh, celebs gotta stay in character 🙄. Can't even have a conversation without a drama-filled ego trip. And what's with the games being used to recruit people for ICE? That's not exactly 'recruiting' if you ask me 🚫. Should be focusing on actual community-building and positive online interactions.

I gotta say, people are being way too harsh on Elon Musk 🤖. One mistake in an online game doesn't define him as a person or a genius entrepreneur. We should give the guy some slack 😊. I mean, who hasn't had a embarrassing moment online? Even me! I once got banned from a forum for making a joke about my aunt's favorite TV show 🤣.

And Roblox? It's not like it's some new, malicious platform 🙄. It's just a game that kids love to play. We should be supporting parents in educating their children about online safety instead of trashing the platform itself 👊.

Sega's Master System is definitely an underrated console 💯. I'm glad Keith Stuart gave it some much-needed love 🔥. And 007 First Light? Can't wait to dive into that 🎮! Bring on 2026 and all its gaming goodness!

I'm getting a bit worried about Roblox 🤔. I mean, it's awesome that so many kids are playing online games, but at the same time, it's super scary to think about all those potential risks 🚨. My little cousin plays on there sometimes and I just want to make sure she's safe 😬. It would be great if they could do something more to protect the younger users 👍.

And can we talk about how Elon Musk is just so extra 💁‍♀️? Cheating in online games? Like, what's next? 🤦‍♂️

I'm also kinda excited for 007 First Light - I love the Bond games and this one looks so cool 😎. Can't wait to see what other awesome stuff comes out in 2026 💥.

On a more chill note, I've been playing Guitar Hero with my friends lately and it's just so much fun 🎸. There's something about rocking out to your favorite songs that just brings people together 🤝.

omg i cant even rn lol roblox is like literally so wild rn i mean 150 million daily users is crazy but what if they're not all just chillin in a safe space idk lol my little sis plays it tho and she's always telling me about these sketchy ppl who message her on the platform its def concerning 🤔
