Savannah Guthrie, the US journalist and television host, has released a new video urging her mother's suspected kidnappers to make contact with them and provide proof she is still alive. In the brief video, posted on Instagram, Guthrie says, "We received your message and we understand. We beg you now to return our mother to us so we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay."
Guthrie's 84-year-old mother, Nancy, went missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on January 31st after being dropped off shortly after 10 pm following dinner with her family. Her pacemaker app indicated it was disconnected from her phone around 2:30 am the next day. Authorities believe she was abducted from her home.
The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information that could lead to Nancy Guthrie's recovery and/or an arrest and conviction in her abduction. Investigators have not identified a suspect or person of interest in the case, according to Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos.
Guthrie has posted other videos prior to this one, urging her mother's suspected kidnappers to make contact with them and provide proof she is still alive. Ransom notes have been sent to several local and national media outlets, as per the FBI.
