I'm not entirely convinced by Norway's dominance this year... I mean, 5 out of 6 prizes? It feels like Sentimental Value just swept the floor. Don't get me wrong, Joachim Trier is a talented director, but it's always hard to take a film that won every major prize as seriously as everyone else. I'd love to see more diversity in the winners' circle next year... or at least some recognition for other strong contenders like Sirāt. How many films were actually submitted? Can we get those numbers and some more insight into the voting process?
I'm so impressed by Joachim Trier's work on Sentimental Value! He really brought his own life experiences to the screen and it shows in that raw emotion. Stellan Skarsgård is amazing too, he always gives me chills with his acting . But what really got me was how underappreciated some of the other films were, like Sirāt and It Was Just an Accident. I mean, it's great that they got recognition, but it feels like there's just one film that everyone wants to talk about . Still, it's awesome to see a new generation of filmmakers like Laura Carreira getting her start, On Falling looks so interesting!
