Six Nations 2026: Wales prop Tomas Francis back as uncapped Louie Hennessey and Gabriel Hamer-Webb included

Wales Rugby Union Head Coach Steve Tandy has named his squad for the 2026 Six Nations Championship, bringing back prop Tomas Francis and including Bath centre Louie Hennessey in a selection that sees several changes from the autumn tour. Prop Francis, who last played international rugby in the 2023 World Cup quarter-final defeat by Argentina, will provide experience to the front row alongside his Sale Sharks teammate Keiron Assiratti and Leicester's Archie Griffin.

Bath centre Louie Hennessey, an uncapped player, is among six players that have earned their first cap this year, including Leicester wing Gabriel Hamer-Webb, who qualifies for Wales through his mother. The 38-man squad includes 13 English and French-based players with the majority being from the top clubs in both countries.

There are several notable absentees including Rio Dyer, Tommy Reffell, Nick Tompkins and Callum Sheedy. Taulupe Faletau and Max Llewellyn will also miss out due to injury. This year's tournament will be an important one for Wales as they look to break their losing streak against England, who have been the dominant force in the Six Nations since 2008.

Wales' head coach Steve Tandy has expressed his excitement about assembling a new-look squad that brings different dynamics and competition. He believes that having several players competing for positions will help him identify the best players to form a strong unit before the tournament begins next February.

Tandy also praised captain Dewi Lake, who will lead Wales again this year, calling him an outstanding leader who is passionate about Wales and his role in the team.

omg, so excited for the 2026 Six Nations πŸ‰πŸ˜ƒ! i've been following wales rugby for ages and they really need a win against england to break that losing streak 😬. steve tandy's squad looks pretty strong with some new faces like louie hennessey from bath centre πŸ’ͺ. hope he can bring some fresh energy to the team. captain dewi lake is a great leader, i've seen him play and he's always so passionate about wales 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿.

anyway, i'm not really sure what the point of having several players competing for positions does... maybe it'll help them get better? πŸ€” still got a lot of faith in tandy and his squad to make it count this year πŸ’―.

omg, can u believe steve tandy's squad for 2026 six nations has so many changes? like, what happened to rio dyer and nick tomkins? πŸ€”πŸ‰ i mean, wales are gonna need a lot of luck to beat england this year πŸ™ˆ. but at least they've got some new talent like louie hennessey from bath... how's he doing in the premiership? πŸ“Ί also, taulupe faletau's injury is a bummer πŸ€• do u think wales will be able to break that losing streak against england? πŸ‰πŸ‘€

I'm intrigued by Tandy's decision to bring back prop Tomas Francis, it shows he's prioritizing experience over youth πŸ€”. The squad has a good balance of English and French-based players, but I'd love to see more representation from Welsh clubs outside of the top tier. 😊 It's also interesting that Taulupe Faletau won't be making an appearance due to injury, as his absence will likely be felt in the back row. πŸš‘ The absentees list is quite lengthy, though - hope they're all on track for recovery soon! πŸ’ͺ

OMG, I'm so stoked for the Welsh rugby squad!!! 🀩 They're bringing back Tomas Francis and adding Louie Hennessey, which is like a dream come true! 😍 And can you believe they've got 6 newbies getting their first caps? That's like, totally awesome news! πŸŽ‰ I mean, sure, there are some notable absences, but Tandy's all about bringing in fresh talent and competition, which can only make the team stronger, right? πŸ’ͺ He seems super pumped about this squad, and I'm loving his positivity about Dewi Lake being an amazing captain. Fingers crossed for Wales to finally break that England losing streak! πŸ‰πŸ’₯

πŸ€” So I was thinking, with all these changes in the squad, it's gonna be interesting to see how it plays out for Wales in 2026 πŸ‰. With Taulupe Faletau and Max Llewellyn missing due to injury, they're really gonna have to rely on those younger players like Louie Hennessey and Gabriel Hamer-Webb to step up πŸ’ͺ. And I'm not surprised Steve Tandy's brought back Tomas Francis, he's got experience and that's what Wales need right now πŸ™. It's all about finding that balance and competition in the squad, you know? With captain Dewi Lake leading the way, hopefully they can break their losing streak against England πŸ”΅πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ Ώ

I think its gonna be an interesting 2026 Six Nations Championship with this new squad Steve Tandy's put together πŸ€”. I mean, bringing back Tomas Francis is a good move, he's got some serious experience under his belt πŸ‘Š. And adding Louie Hennessey to the mix could really bring some excitement to their centre spot ⚽️. But yeah, it's always tough when you see players like Rio Dyer and Tommy Reffell missing out due to injuries πŸ€•. I'm hoping Wales can finally break that losing streak against England, they've been dominating for years now πŸ’ͺ. With a few new faces and some key players returning, I think Tandy might have a good shot at this one πŸ”₯. Can't wait to see how it all plays out!

πŸ€” so I'm reading that Steve Tandy's squad for 2026 Six Nations has a bunch of changes πŸ”„, but it looks like they're focusing on bringing back experience with prop Tomas Francis πŸ’ͺ... hope he can bring some stability to the front row 🀞 and center Louie Hennessey gets his first cap πŸ‘! 13 English & French-based players makes sense, gotta give them a good mix of talent 🎯. Not sure what's going on with Rio Dyer though πŸ€”, was thinking he'd be part of this squad... anyway, gotta keep an eye on this team's dynamics πŸ“Š and how they perform against England πŸ’₯!

Umm... I don't know if I trust that squad πŸ€”. Like, what's up with all these English and French players? Isn't it time for some Welsh talent to shine? πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ And I'm so down for Dewi Lake being captain, he seems like a great leader πŸ’ͺ... but isn't Rio Dyer one of the most talented wingers in the country? What's going on with him not making the squad? 🀯 On the other hand, Tomas Francis is back and that's awesome... I mean, who doesn't love an old prop coming back to save the day? πŸ˜‚ But seriously, can we please get some consistency in our team selection? It's like they're trying to confuse us on purpose! πŸ™ƒ

Just saw the squad announcement for the 2026 Six Nations Championship πŸ‰πŸ’¬ and I gotta say, I'm loving the changes Steve Tandy's made! Bringing back Tomas Francis and adding Louie Hennessey from Bath will definitely bring some fresh blood to the team. It'll be interesting to see how Gabriel Hamer-Webb's addition affects their attack πŸ€”. Absentees like Rio Dyer and Nick Tompkins are a bummer, but I'm sure Taulupe Faletau & Max Llewellyn will get back in the mix soon πŸ’ͺ. Captain Dewi Lake sounds like an awesome leader, can't wait to see how they all come together next Feb πŸŽ‰

just got the news that wales rugby squad for 2026 six nations has been announced πŸ‰πŸ‘Š and its pretty interesting to see what changes steve tandy's made! they're bringing back tomas francis, but also giving loie hennessey his first cap - sounds like a good mix of youth and experience to me 😊. can't help but feel that wales are due for a win against england after all those years... πŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ ΏπŸ‡«πŸ‡·. steve tandy's got some big shoes to fill, but captain dewi lake is an awesome leader πŸ’ͺ. fingers crossed for wales! πŸ‘
