SkyEye captures aftermath of fiery rollover crash involving HPD in Midtown

A Vehicle Upright and Ablaze: HPD Involved in Fiery Crash in Midtown

A harrowing scene unfolded in Midtown yesterday afternoon, as a vehicle sat upright on fire following a major crash near Travis Street and Holman Street. SkyEye footage captured the devastating moment, showing the vehicle's wreckage engulfed in flames while the building nearby sustained significant damage.

According to images from the scene, the car had struck the structure before coming to rest upside down, leaving its occupants stunned. Firefighters were quick to respond and worked tirelessly to put out the blaze, but not before it caused widespread destruction.

The Houston Police Department has confirmed that one of their officers was involved in the crash, although details on how it occurred are still unclear. As the investigation continues, officials are urging those with information to come forward.

This developing story is ongoing, and ABC13 will provide updates as more information becomes available. In the meantime, follow Mo Haider on Facebook, X, and Instagram for the latest breaking news.

🚨😱 just got back from midtown and OMG the scene was straight out of a horror movie!!! I've never seen anything like it. One minute you're driving down Travis St and the next there's a car on fire with people standing around looking like they're in shock. And can we talk about how lucky those firefighters were? They risked their lives to save that vehicle and everyone inside. My heart is still racing just thinking about it... πŸ€―πŸš’

omg that's so crazy! a car on fire in midtown? what if someone was inside?! did the firefighters get hurt or anything? why did it happen right next to a building? didn't they see the car coming? i feel bad for the people who live around there, hope they have insurance. btw, is mo haider a journalist or something? πŸ€”πŸ˜±

Man, what a crazy scene they got in Midtown yesterday 🀯😱. I'm just glad no one was seriously hurt, but still, that's a pretty intense situation 😬. I mean, you're already dealing with a crash, then suddenly your car just catches on fire... it's like something out of a movie 🍿.

I feel bad for the officers involved, especially since one of them was in the crash πŸ€•. And yeah, the building took a hit too, so that's not good news for the owners or anyone living nearby 😬.

It's crazy how fast things can escalate like that. I'm just hoping they get to the bottom of what happened and everyone involved is okay πŸ’―.

Omg what a crazy scene that was 🀯!!! I was just scrolling through my timeline and then this comes up and I'm like what in the world happened?! A car upright on fire is just insane 😱. You'd think it's something out of a movie or TV show. And poor people trapped inside, that must've been super traumatic for them πŸ€•. The fact that an HPD officer was involved too adds another layer of concern 🚨. Hope everyone involved is okay and the investigation doesn't take long to get to the bottom of it πŸ’ͺ.

Man, another crazy accident in Midtown 🀯! Can't believe a vehicle just sat there burning like it was on fire πŸ”₯. I mean, what's the point of all these new car tech features? Are they really worth the risk? And what about airbags and stuff? Did those even fail too?! 😬 Firefighters were all over it, but this thing was huge – building damage was crazy 🏒πŸ’₯. And, of course, one of our own officers got involved 🚨. Just hope everyone's okay... but, honestly, I'm still waiting for convincing proof that these new fancy safety features are better than just good ol' common sense πŸ˜’

🚨 Just got word about that crazy car crash in Midtown... seems like a total nightmare 😱. So scary thinking about how quickly things can go wrong on our roads. Firefighters did an amazing job getting to the scene ASAP, but still heartbreaking to see buildings damaged and people shaken up πŸ€•.

I'm curious though - do you think more needs to be done to improve road safety in Houston? We're always hearing about accidents on our news, it's like they just keep happening πŸ€”. What do you guys think is the most important thing to change? πŸ’‘

πŸ˜” oh no... my heart goes out to everyone involved in that terrible accident πŸ€• what a scary moment for all those people... one of the officers was part of it too 😞 i hope the officer is okay and can recover from this traumatic event soon πŸ’ͺ & poor building, that's just devastating πŸŒ† & yeah, accidents like these are really tough to watch or deal with... you can't help but feel so much empathy for everyone affected πŸ’•

Ugh, just watched that crazy video of the car fire in Midtown and I'm still shaking my head 🀯... Like, what was going through that officer's mind to be involved in a crash? And how did it even happen in the first place?! 😬 They gotta figure out what went down ASAP. On the bright side, the firefighters were total heroes for putting out the flames and saving people πŸš’πŸ’ͺ. But seriously, this whole thing is just a huge bummer. I hope everyone involved is okay and that the officer gets support during this tough time πŸ’•.
