The occupation of Minneapolis: how residents are resisting Trump's ICE 'invasion' – video

Minneapolis Residents Stand Ground Against Trump-Backed Immigration Crackdown

As tensions rise across the United States, the city of Minneapolis has become a focal point in the resistance against President Donald Trump's immigration policies. A recent surge in ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) activity has left local residents feeling beleaguered, but they're not backing down.

Eyewitness accounts describe scenes of chaos as swarms of ICE agents descended upon the city, targeting individuals suspected of being undocumented immigrants. "It was like a war zone," said Maria Rodriguez, a local resident who witnessed the crackdowns. "People were running and crying, trying to get away from these men in black suits with badges that seemed to give them absolute power."

Despite the intimidating presence of ICE agents, Minneapolis residents have organized mass protests and rallies to express their opposition to Trump's policies. Community leaders are urging residents to stand together against what they see as an "invasion" by federal authorities.

"I've lived here for 20 years," said Jamal Hassan, a local activist who has been at the forefront of the resistance. "I know how this city works. We don't need these kinds of people coming in and dictating our laws. It's not about being 'anti-immigrant' – it's about being pro-human rights."

As the situation on the ground continues to unfold, Minneapolis residents are pushing back against Trump's efforts to militarize ICE. Local organizations have been working tirelessly to provide support services for families affected by the crackdowns, including food, shelter, and emotional counseling.

The city's mayor has issued a statement condemning the actions of ICE agents and promising to take action to protect local residents. Meanwhile, federal authorities remain tight-lipped about their plans, fueling fears among Minneapolis residents that this is just the beginning of a long-term occupation.

For those on the frontlines of resistance, however, there's no going back now. "We're not asking for permission," said Rodriguez. "We're demanding our rights as human beings." As tensions simmer in Minneapolis, one thing is clear: the city will not go quietly into the night.

🤔 this whole thing is crazy 🤯 i mean, who does trump think he is? making his own immigration rules and just enforcing them on people's cities without even talking to them about it first? 🤷‍♀️ and what's with all these ice agents showing up out of nowhere? like, they're basically a private army or something 🚫

and ugh the way maria rodriguez described the scene is just wild 🌪️ "it was like a war zone" 😱 can you even imagine being in a situation where you're trying to live your life and suddenly these agents show up and start making everyone scared? 🤕

but at the same time, i feel bad for trump's supporters who are just being super blind to what's going on. like, they're so caught up in their own bubbles that they don't even see how messed up this whole situation is 🙄

anyway, i think it's amazing that minneapolis residents are standing up against this and demanding their rights as human beings 💖 we should all be supporting them and showing some love to our fellow americans who are being treated so unfairly 🤗

man ️ I'm watching this unfold and it's crazy to think about how things were back in 2016 when Trump first took office 🤯 everyone thought he was just gonna be a reality TV star 📺 but now he's actually implementing these immigration policies that are straight up draconian 😬 what's really wild is that there are still so many people who believe him and think this is all part of the "American dream" 💔 like, no dude – it's not about being "proud to be American", it's about treating people with basic human dignity 🌎 we need to keep speaking out against these policies and supporting our fellow humans who are being targeted by ICE 👥

😕 I just can't believe what's happening in Minneapolis right now... like if ICE agents were to show up at my school on a Tuesday afternoon 🤯 I would freak out! And I know it sounds crazy, but I think some of those people who are being targeted aren't even sure they're undocumented 🤷‍♀️ It's so scary for them. We need to stand together as a community and support each other, just like my school does with our diversity club 💖 They're doing amazing work to help families in need, offering food, shelter, and counseling. I wish more schools could do the same. 🤞

🤔 I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this whole situation. Can anyone provide some solid sources on how widespread the ICE activity is in Minneapolis? It seems like an exaggeration to say it's like a "war zone" - have there been any reports of actual violence or injuries from these protests?

Also, what's with all the talk about "human rights"? Isn't that just a fancy way of saying "we don't want Trump's policies to affect us"? I'm not saying I agree with Trump's stance on immigration, but can we please have some facts and figures instead of emotive language? 🤷‍♂️

🚫👮‍♂️ This whole situation with Trump's immigration policies is getting out of hand 🤯. I mean, what's next? ICE agents showing up at people's doors unannounced? It's like they're trying to create a sense of fear and intimidation 😱.

As a resident of the US, it's disheartening to see our own government acting like this 👎. Where's the empathy? The understanding? It feels like we're being forced to choose between being "pro-immigrant" or "pro-American", but what about being human first? 🤝

The fact that Minneapolis residents are standing up against this is amazing 💪. They're not letting their city be overrun by federal authorities, and they're demanding their rights as human beings 💥. We need more people like them who aren't afraid to speak out against injustice 💬.

It's time for our government to listen to the voices of everyday Americans, not just politicians with a vested interest in suppressing marginalized communities 🗣️. We deserve better than this 🙏.

Ugh this situation is so messed up 😩 Minneapolis residents are literally fighting for their lives over something that's just so basic 🤷‍♀️ like a right to live without fear of deportation. I mean, come on Trump, you're already making America weird what's next? 🙄 On the bright side tho, it's awesome to see people from all walks of life standing together for a cause 🌈👫 community leaders are doing some serious work over here organizing these protests and rallies, and I gotta give props to them 👏 local orgs are stepping up to provide support services too, that's just beautiful 💖

omg this is getting intense 🚨ICE agents showing up at people's homes and freaking out families... its like something straight outta a horror movie 😱 i'm low-key scared for all these ppl caught in the middle of trump's immigration mess 🤯 how r they supposed to live w/ these ppl just showing up out of nowhere? need to raise awareness ASAP 📣

I'm still thinking, this whole Trump stuff is kinda weird lol 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, I think it's awesome that people in Minneapolis are standing up for what they believe in, even if it means going against the feds. It's like, hello, immigrants have a right to live their lives and work without fear of being deported, you know? 😊

I mean, I remember when Barack Obama was president and he had that whole immigration reform thingy... it didn't pass or whatever, but it showed people that there were other options, you feel? And now Trump's trying to undo all that progress? It's like, what's the point of even having a government if they're just gonna make stuff up as they go along 🤯.

And can we talk about ICE for a second? Like, who gives these guys their power? They're not exactly the most trustworthy bunch, you know? 🙅‍♂️ I'm glad community leaders are stepping in to support the people and provide some actual help instead of just standing around looking all serious and stuff.

Anyway, it's good to see Minneapolis residents pushing back against Trump's antics. Maybe we'll get a better outcome out of this than we did with Obama's whole healthcare thing 🤞. Fingers crossed! 💕

idk man... i just saw some vids of this ice crackdown and it's wild 😱 like how can you just show up with guns and handcuffs and expect ppl to roll over? but at the same time, i don't think we should be welcoming these agents with open arms either... what if they're not even doing their jobs right? 🤔 meanwhile, the city is all about being pro-human rights and standing up for themselves, which i can respect... but like, isn't it also a little naive to think that just because we have a statement from the mayor and some protests, everything's gonna magically get better? 🚫 or are we just gonna keep getting caught in the middle of this mess forever? 🤷‍♂️

🚨 The way some people react to ICE agents is super concerning lol... I mean, I get that they're doing their job but come on, no need for all that drama 😬. Minneapolis residents should focus on supporting each other and providing resources rather than getting aggressive towards ICE 🤝.

The fact that community leaders are urging people to stand together against this policy shows there's a lot of love and unity in the city 💕. It's not about being "anti-immigrant" as one resident said, it's more like... we're all human beings here! 🌎 We need to treat each other with kindness and respect.

Some folks might be worried about what this means for the future but I think Minneapolis is showing that even in the face of adversity, we can still come together and fight for what's right 💪. The city's mayor should keep up the good work and make sure everyone's safe 🌟

can't believe what's going on in minneapolis 🤯 ice agents showing up left and right like they own the place? news outlets should be covering this more I've been living here for 5 years and it's crazy to see people being treated like this without due process 🙅‍♂️ mayor needs to take a stand already, can't just sit back and let trumps policies run wild 💪 local orgs are doing amazing work btw, need more support and resources ASAP 👊

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this whole situation 🤯. It's crazy how quickly things can escalate, isn't it? I mean, I've lived through some tough times in my life, but this feels different. There's a sense of urgency and fear that's hard to ignore.

As someone who's gotten older, I've learned that sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe in, even when it's hard 🙏. It's not about being anti-immigrant or pro-anything specific – it's just about treating people with dignity and respect.

I'm proud of the Minneapolis residents for organizing and speaking out against these crackdowns 👏. It takes a lot of courage to stand up to someone who seems powerful and intimidating like Trump. But at the end of the day, it's not about him or his policies – it's about what's right and just.

We need more people in our communities to speak out and demand change 🗣️. We can't let fear and intimidation silence us. We have to keep pushing forward, even when it's hard, because that's how we create real change 🌟.

omg u gotta understand minneapolis is like the epicenter of resistance rn 🤯 they r not just protesting against trump's immigration policies, its about standing up for humanity & basic human rights!!! 🙌 i mean who is us to decide who gets to live in this country? we r already a melting pot of cultures & it would be crazy if we started dictating who gets in or out 🤷‍♀️

i feel so bad for the ppl affected by these ice crackdowns, imagine being told ur not welcome just because u dont have papers 🚫 its like, hello im a human being too! i think its amazing that local orgs r stepping up to provide support & resources 4 families in need 🌟 lets keep spreading love & acceptance instead of hate & fear 💖
