Trump captures Maduro and vows to 'run' Venezuela – podcast

US President Donald Trump has led a military operation in Venezuela, capturing President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores from the Venezuelan naval frigate Cordelia Gonzalez, according to reports.

The operation appears to have been carried out by US special forces who were on board the ship as part of a joint operation with Colombian security forces. The Guardian has reported that Trump vowed to "run" Venezuela during a statement in which he said: 'We are going to run this country, we're gonna make it so strong and so powerful that you won't even recognize it.'

This news follows months of heightened tensions between the US and Venezuela, with the Maduro regime facing accusations of human rights abuses and economic mismanagement. Trump had previously warned Maduro about the consequences of interfering in the 2018 presidential election, which was won by opposition leader Juan Guaidó.

The operation has sparked an international outcry, with many countries expressing concern over the situation. Mexico's president Andrés Manuel López Obrador has called for calm, while the UN secretary-general António Guterres urged restraint and respect for Venezuela's sovereignty.

The exact details of the operation are still unclear, but it appears that Maduro was taken into custody by US forces on board the ship before being flown to a secure location. The status of his wife Cilia Flores is also unknown at this time.

The US has been accused of overstepping its authority in intervening in Venezuelan affairs, while some have welcomed the move as a way to bring stability and democracy to the long-troubled nation.

this is crazy 🤯... think about it, the us just stormed another country's ship like that? what's next? it's like they're trying to set an example or something, but which country are we following now? 🤔 and what about the implications on venezuela's sovereignty? i mean, maduro was accused of human rights abuses before, so is this even a step forward? 🤷‍♀️ also, trump's statement about "running" the country sounds like a threat to me... does that even count as diplomacy? 🚫

I'm totally freaked out about what's happening with Venezuela right now 🤯. I mean, I get that Trump's all about being strong on the world stage, but this is like, totally over the top, man. I don't think it's cool that he's basically taking over Maduro's ship and kidnapping him - that's like a total human rights violation, you know? 🚫

And what about Cilia Flores? Is she even safe right now? It's so sketchy. And then there are the other implications of this whole thing... I mean, it's not just about Venezuela anymore, it's about the US trying to assert its dominance in the region and who knows what else will happen next?

I'm all for stability and democracy, but do we really need the US coming in like a savior? Can't they just support Venezuela from afar instead of trying to take control like this? 🤔 It's like, totally unnecessary drama, if you ask me.

OMG, what's going on with Venezuela?! 🤯 I was literally studying for my exams and then I saw this news and I'm like "what just happened?" 😱 So, the US President Donald Trump sent his special forces to capture Maduro, that's soooo not normal! 🚫 I mean, I know there have been tensions between the two countries, but who gets taken away by military force? 🤔 And what about all those human rights abuses and economic issues they've been accusing each other of? It just feels like a huge mess. 💁‍♀️ I'm trying to understand why Trump would do this, maybe he thinks it'll bring stability or something? 🤷‍♂️ But honestly, I don't think the US has any right to interfere with Venezuela's politics. 😒 We should be letting the Venezuelan people decide their own future, not some powerful nation just swooping in and taking control. 🌎

🤯 what's goin on here? US just take Maduro outta Venezuela like that?! they gotta be thinkin we're livin in some kinda dystopian movie 🎥. Trump's all about "runnin" the country now, but who's gonna run it for 'im? Venezuela got a whole lotta problems, economic and human rights abuses galore, so maybe this is just another way to cover up all that dirt 😒. Colombia's security forces are involved too, so at least they're not doin' this solo 💪. But the rest of the world's all like "hold up, what's goin on here?" 🤔. Shoulda been some kinda international agreement or nothin' before US just swoops in and takes out their president 👮‍♂️. This is a big deal, trust me 😬

omg u guys i cant even right now 😱 just found out that trump did what he said he would do and took maduro & his wife off the ship lol im so shook but also kinda glad cuz venezuela has been a mess for ages 🤯 i mean who wouldn't want to see some change happen? but at the same time i know theres gonna be major fallout from this and america is already getting roasted on social media for overstepping their bounds 🤦‍♀️ like um isnt that what they did in iraq? anywayz im just so done with venezuela news for now i need a break 💁‍♀️

This whole situation got me thinking... what even is stability and power? Is it really just about being strong and having control, or is there more to it than that? I mean, think about it, when was the last time a country that's been taken over by force really ended up being any better off in the long run? It just seems like people want to point fingers at Maduro for all their problems, but what about the US' own role in all this?

And what does 'democracy' even mean anymore? Is it just about holding elections and having a fancy president, or is there actually some substance behind those words? I'm not saying Venezuela doesn't have its issues, but can we really trust that the US would be doing things any differently if they were in charge? It's all just so... complicated. 🤔

😱 I'm literally shaking my head right now, thinking about what's happening with Venezuela... It feels like there are so many lives at risk here 🤯. I mean, I can understand why some people might see this as a way to bring stability and democracy, but come on, capturing the president in military action? That's super concerning 😬. And what about the implications for the region? I'm worried about how other countries are going to react to this... 🌎 It's just so complicated. My heart goes out to the people of Venezuela who have already been through so much 💔. We need to think about how we're all going to navigate this situation and try to find a peaceful solution, you know? 🤝

OMG, this is crazy! 🤯 I'm still trying to wrap my head around what's going on. So, Trump just took over Venezuela like that? 😱 I get why some people might think it's a good idea to bring stability and democracy to the country, but at the same time, isn't that kind of an invasion? 🤔

I'm also really concerned about Maduro's wife Cilia Flores - what happened to her?! 💔 And what's going on with the Colombian security forces being part of this operation? Were they acting under Trump's orders or did they just go along with it?

It's like, one minute we're talking about a presidential election and the next thing you know, there's a full-blown military operation. I'm not even sure where to start on all this... 🤯 Can someone please just give me some answers?! 😂

🤔 This whole thing sounds super shady 🚫, you know? I mean, Trump just casually mentions he's gonna "run" Venezuela like it's his own personal playground 🏰. But what about Maduro's people? What about the sovereignty of a sovereign country? 🇻🇪 It doesn't sit right with me that US special forces were on a Venezuelan naval ship in the first place... seems like a recipe for disaster ⚠️.

And have you seen the reaction from other countries? I mean, Mexico's president is calling for calm and the UN secretary-general is asking for restraint... it's clear this international community is not thrilled about what's happening 🌎. And Trump just brushes it off like he's some kind of superhero 💪? Give me a break 😂. This whole thing needs to be looked into further, you know? Can't have the US just swooping in and taking over another country without a clear plan or justification 🤷‍♂️.

omg what's next, a coup in canada? 🤣 think trump was just trying to "help" venezuela with his genius leadership style . who needs democracy when you've got a strongman like him guiding the ship, right? 🚢 also, if making venezuela "strong and powerful" means turning it into a us-style dystopia, then i'm all for it 😏
