U.S. Rep. Thanedar introduces articles of impeachment against Attorney General - Detroit Metro Times

Detroit Rep. Shri Thanedar Unveils New Bid to Impeach Attorney General Pam Bondi, Latest in a String of Fizzling Efforts.

In another bid to shake up the status quo at the Justice Department, U.S. Rep. Shri Thanedar announced plans on Monday to introduce articles of impeachment against Attorney General Pam Bondi, his latest salvo in what's shaping up as an increasingly futile attempt to topple Trump administration officials through the impeachment process.

Thanedar, a Democrat representing Michigan's 13th Congressional District, accused Bondi of conspiring to cover up files tied to Jeffrey Epstein, defying a congressional mandate to release those records, abusing her authority to pressure Minnesota for sensitive voter registration rolls, and weaponizing the Justice Department to target Trump critics. He described the Attorney General as "clearly more loyal to President Trump than the Constitution."

Thanedar's decision to go after Bondi comes on the heels of two recent impeachment pushes that fizzled out in the House. In December, he filed articles of impeachment against U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, accusing him of issuing unlawful military orders and mishandling classified information. And in April, Thanedar introduced seven articles of impeachment against Trump, alleging corruption, obstruction of justice, and other misconduct. Despite initial optimism, the effort ultimately stalled.

House Democrats have made it clear that impeachment efforts targeting members of the Trump administration are doomed to fail if they're not supported by Republican lawmakers. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said Republicans would block articles of impeachment from reaching the floor.

Bondi has been a polarizing figure in Washington, criticized for spreading false claims about widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election and her alleged ties to Trump's inner circle. Government watchdog groups have also questioned her independence given her long history as a Trump supporter and fundraiser.

The move by Thanedar could add another layer of tension to an already contentious election cycle, particularly in Michigan's safely Democratic 13th Congressional District. Thanedar will face four other Democrats in the August primary, including progressive state Rep. Donavan McKinney.

.. this whole impeachment thing is like trying to hold water in your hands 🤣 it's just gonna slip right back out... I mean, even with all these efforts, nothing's really changing. It's like we're stuck in this never-ending cycle of politics. What's the point of it all? Is it just about getting re-elected or is there something more to it? I think we need to stop and take a step back. We gotta ask ourselves what's driving us to do these things. Is it greed, power, or really just a desire for change? 🤔

I gotta say, this latest attempt by Shri Thanedar to impeach Pam Bondi is gonna be a tough sell 😒. The guy's already got two failed impeachment pushes under his belt, and it seems like every time he tries to shake things up, it ends in a fizzle 💦. I mean, can't he just focus on getting stuff done instead of trying to take down Trump admin officials? It's like he's playing a game of whack-a-mole - every time he thinks he knocks one down, two more pop up 🤯. And let's be real, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries saying Republicans will block any impeachment efforts, it's just gonna be a waste of time ⏰. I'm not buying the drama around Bondi and her alleged ties to Trump - sounds like a bunch of noise 📣. Thanedar should focus on being a representative for his constituents instead of playing politics 🤝.

Ugh, really? Another impeachment push that's just going to end up being a waste of time 🤦‍♂️. I get it, we need some accountability at the Justice Department, but is this the way to do it? It feels like Shri Thanedar is just trying to get attention and boost his own profile instead of actually making a meaningful difference. And let's be real, it's not like Republicans are ever going to support him on this one 🤔.

I'm all for taking down corrupt officials, but we need to do it in a way that's constructive and not just partisan politics. Thanedar needs to focus on building bipartisan support if he wants to make any headway on this issue. And what about the other Democrats running in his district? Are they going to be able to distance themselves from Thanedar's antics or will it harm their own campaigns 🤷‍♂️.

It's just another example of how hard it is to get anything done in Washington, especially when it comes to partisan politics 💸. I'm still holding out hope that we'll see some real change soon, but until then, I'm just going to roll my eyes and wait for the next big thing 🙄.

Its like Rep Thanedar think he got superpower here trying to take down Pam Bondi but honestly its a total long shot 🤣... Impeachment process is so complicated and Republicans got total control over House, so good luck getting that stuff passed... than again, you gotta feel for Rep Thaneder trying to shake things up in DC, but it might be time for him to focus on his own district's issues instead of trying to make headlines with empty threats 🤦‍♂️

Impeachment efforts are getting old... 💔🚫 Like how many times can you try to take down one person before it gets tiring? Shri Thanedar's latest move is just another attempt at stirring up drama, but honestly, it feels like a never-ending cycle of nothing happening 🔄. We've seen this play out with Hegseth and Trump, and now it's Bondi's turn... 🕰️ Meanwhile, the real issues aren't getting addressed 🤔. It's time for some fresh faces in Congress who can actually make a difference 💪.

Can you believe this is just how politics has become 🙄? First, it's all about drama and publicity stunts instead of actually getting things done. I mean, Rep. Thanedar thinks he can take down Pam Bondi with impeachment, but we all know how that's gonna play out in the House... 😒 Republicans are already saying they're not gonna support him. And let's be real, Bondi has been a polarizing figure for years, so this is just another attempt to try and score points in the midterms. Newsflash, Rep.: it's time to focus on actual legislation instead of empty threats 🤷‍♂️
