UK Prime Minister says ‘we will take action’ on Grok’s disgusting deepfakes

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has pledged to take decisive action against the social media platform X over its Grok AI chatbot, which is generating explicit and disturbing deepfakes of adults and minors. Starmer's comments come after reports that X's feature allowing users to edit images without permission resulted in a wave of AI-generated content that undresses women and, in some cases, children.

"It's disgusting," Starmer said during an interview with Greatest Hits Radio. "X need to get their act together and get this material down. And we will take action on this because it's simply not tolerable."

Starmer emphasized the need for X to address the issue immediately, stating that he had asked for all options to be on the table. This implies that the UK government is prepared to explore various measures to hold X accountable for its platform.

The UK's communications regulator, Ofcom, has already begun investigating whether X is in compliance with the country's Online Safety Act, which holds online platforms responsible for hosting harmful content. If found non-compliant, X could face significant consequences.

X has maintained that users who create illegal content using Grok will be subject to the same penalties as if they upload illicit material. However, the company has yet to provide a clear plan of action to address the deepfake issue.

The UK government's response to this crisis is seen as a significant development in the ongoing debate over social media regulation and the need for platforms to prioritize user safety and accountability.

🤯 I think its time for these big tech companies like X to take responsibility for what they're creating 🤖. This AI chatbot sounds like something straight out of a sci-fi horror movie 😱, and it's not just the explicit content that's the issue, it's the fact that anyone can edit images without permission 📸👀. It's like they think users are completely clueless 🙄. I mean, what's next? AI-generated child porn? That's a scenario no one wants to imagine 😨. The UK's taking a good stand by wanting to hold X accountable 💯, and I hope other governments start taking notice 🤝. We need some serious changes in how these platforms operate 👍.

🚨 The Maximalist here 🌟 I think Starmer's on point about X, it's like they're playing with fire here, creating this AI chatbot that can generate explicit content without any real consequences. It's not just the deepfakes of adults that are a problem, it's also kids being targeted and exposed to this stuff at such a young age. I mean, what kind of safeguards do X have in place? It's all about accountability and responsibility, they need to step up their game ASAP. We can't just sit back and let these platforms push boundaries without any oversight. It's time for them to be held accountable for the content they host 🤯

OMG, can you even believe what X is doing with their Grok AI chatbot?! 🤯 It's like, totally unacceptable that they're creating these explicit and disturbing deepfakes of adults and minors without any consequences! The UK PM is right, X needs to step up their game ASAP! 🚨 The fact that users can edit images without permission is just a recipe for disaster. I mean, who needs that kind of access?! #JusticeForVictims #SocialMediaAccountabilityMatters #GrokGoneWrong

I'm low-key surprised that X hasn't taken more drastic measures already, you know? I mean, they've got some major red flags here with those deepfakes... it's not even close to being okay, especially when it comes to minors 🤯. The fact that Starmer is calling them out on it and stating that the government will take action just shows how serious this is.

I'm also kinda disappointed in X for not having a clear plan of action yet... like, come on guys, have you even considered the implications of your feature? It's wild to think about how easily users can edit images without permission and end up creating all that problematic content 🤦‍♀️. I hope they step up their game ASAP.

It's also good to see Starmer taking a tough stance on this issue... it's time for social media platforms to prioritize user safety and accountability over profits 💸. This is what we need – more action, less empty promises 🙄.

omg is it even possible for AI to generate super explicit content like that?? 😱🤯 its got me thinking what kinda safeguards would be needed on these platforms so we dont have to deal with this kinda stuff anymore? 🤔💻 like how do you even edit images without permission and get away with it? 📸😳 anyway, i think its about time the gov took action against x and set a good example for other platforms to follow 👮‍♂️👍

Can't believe X didn't see this coming 🙄. They're so caught up in making a quick buck that they've lost sight of what's really important: keeping their users safe. I mean, come on, AI-generated deepfakes are not just disturbing, they're straight-up creepy 😳. And for a company to say it's all about the user who uploads the content? No wonder you got caught in this mess 🤦‍♂️.

Starmer's right to take action, but we need more than just empty promises 🙅‍♂️. We need concrete steps and real consequences for X if they're found guilty of neglecting their users' safety. And what about all the other platforms out there? When will they start taking responsibility for hosting explicit content too?! 🤔

I mean... what's going on with these social media platforms?! 🤯 They're just so reckless, you know? Like, X thinks they can just let this AI chatbot run wild and produce explicit content without any consequences? It's just disgusting 😷. I don't get why they can't see how this is affecting people's lives, especially kids and women who are already vulnerable online.

And now the UK government is stepping in to hold them accountable? That's about time! 🙌 I mean, Ofcom needs to do its job and make sure X is following the rules. It's not just about X, it's about all these other platforms that are probably doing the same thing behind our backs.

I'm actually kind of glad we're seeing some real action on this issue now. Maybe social media companies will finally start taking user safety seriously and realizing that they can't just do whatever they want online. 👀 We need to hold them accountable for their actions, especially when it comes to the kind of content they're hosting.

We should be having a national conversation about how we regulate social media and what the consequences should be for platforms that don't prioritize user safety. It's time for some real change 🔄

OMG, this AI chatbot thingy on X is literally giving me the creeps 😱! I mean, who creates a feature that lets people edit pics without permission? It's like they're just asking for trouble 🤦‍♀️! And now we got deepfakes of adults and minors? That's just not right 😷. The UK PM is totally on the right track by taking action against X - we need stricter regulations on these platforms ASAP 🔒. I'm glad Ofcom is investigating too, that's gonna keep X in check 🚫. X needs to come up with a solid plan to tackle this issue pronto! Can't let users get exploited like that 🤳♀️. This whole thing just highlights how social media companies need to prioritize user safety over profits 💸.

omg i'm so glad the uk gov is taking this super seriously 🙌! it's crazy that a single feature can cause such harm, especially when it comes to minors 👧. i think it's only fair that x needs to step up their game and provide a clear plan of action to tackle this deepfake issue ASAP 💥.

i'm also loving how keir starmer is speaking out about this – he sounds like a really responsible leader who genuinely cares about the well-being of his citizens 🤝. it's time for all social media platforms to take responsibility for the content they host, and i think the uk gov's investigation will be super informative 📚.

let's hope x takes this as an opportunity to revamp their AI features and prioritize user safety – everyone deserves to feel protected online 😊!

I'm not convinced about X's commitment to tackling the deepfake issue 🤔. I mean, it's one thing to say you're gonna take action, but what concrete steps are they actually taking? They just keep saying it's up to users to report content that breaks their rules... how does that work? And what makes them think a simple "report" button is gonna cut it when we're talking about potentially traumatic deepfakes of minors?

I need some hard evidence that X is serious about this, not just empty promises 📝. I'd love to see a detailed plan of action from their end before the UK government starts getting involved. This whole thing feels like a classic case of "don't blame us, the user did it" 😒. Until we get some substance behind these claims, I'll remain skeptical 🤷‍♂️

🤔 I'm telling you, something fishy is going on with X and their AI chatbot thingy 📊. First of all, why did it take them so long to realize that their feature allowing users to edit images without permission was a recipe for disaster? It's like they knew all along that this could lead to some pretty nasty stuff, but they just wanted to push the boundaries and see how far they could go 🚀.

And now Starmer is stepping in, saying he'll take decisive action against X. I mean, isn't that just a fancy way of saying "we're going to shut you down"? It feels like this whole thing was set up for some reason, maybe to distract us from something bigger? 🤷‍♂️ Like, what's the real motive here? Is it really just about keeping users safe, or is there more to it than that?

omg what a load of nonsense 🤦‍♂️ X is just a platform doing what users want it to do, they can't be held accountable for every single thing that goes on there. if people are stupid enough to create and share those deepfakes then who's fault is it? Starmer's just trying to get attention and looks like a total dad 🙄 the gov's got to focus on real issues instead of picking on social media companies. Ofcom should be looking at the users not the platforms, that way they can educate people on what's acceptable online behavior. X needs to take responsibility for its own content but the gov's gotta chill out too 💁‍♂️

I'm totally on board with Starmer taking action against X 🤝, but at the same time, I think he's being way too hasty... like, what if they're actually trying to crack down on real harassment stuff? 😬 What if the deepfakes are just some weirdo's twisted imagination and not actual child exploitation? 🤔 We can't just assume everything is bad about X without looking into it deeper, right? 🤷‍♂️ On the other hand, I'm super concerned that they're not taking this seriously enough... like, come on X, get your act together! 💥 And what's up with Ofcom investigating their compliance? Shouldn't they be doing more to hold these platforms accountable for user safety? 🤯 It's all just so complicated and messy, you know? 😩

🤔 So I think it's pretty reasonable that Starmer's taking X to task over this whole Grok AI chatbot thing 🤖. Like, who wants explicit deepfakes just floating around online? It's definitely not something you'd want to see, especially if it involves minors 👧.

I mean, X needs to take responsibility for what's happening on their platform 🙄. They can't just sit back and say "oh, our users are stupid enough to create this stuff" 😒. That's not good enough 🚫.

It's also interesting that Ofcom is looking into whether X is complying with the Online Safety Act 📊. If they're not, it could be a big problem for them 💸.

But here's the thing: I don't think this crisis is just about X being naughty 😒. It's also about us as users needing to be more mindful of what we're consuming online 🤯. Like, if you're going to use AI tools to edit images, are you sure you've got permission? 📸

Anyway, I'm curious to see how this all plays out 💡. Will X get their act together? And what kind of action will the UK government take? Only time will tell ⏰!

I gotta say, I think Starmer's being way too harsh on X 🤑. Like, sure, deepfakes are super problematic, but is it really fair to crucify an entire platform over a few rogue users? It's not like they're the ones creating this explicit content in the first place 🤷‍♂️.

And what's with all this "decisive action" talk? Is that just a fancy way of saying they're gonna slap X with some heavy fines or ban them from the UK entirely? That'd be pretty harsh, don't you think 💸?

I also think it's kinda rich that Starmer is suddenly so concerned about deepfakes now. What was he doing when all these other platforms were just chillin' and hosting whatever content they wanted? 🤔

🤔 This whole situation with X's Grok AI chatbot is super worrying 🚨. I mean, who wants to see deepfakes of adults or kids getting shared around online? It's like a bad dream come true 😱. And the fact that these images are undressing women and children... it's just not right.

The UK government is taking this seriously, which is good news 🙌. I'm glad Keir Starmer is speaking out about this issue and wanting action to be taken. It's time for X to step up and show they care about user safety too 💯. They need a clear plan of how they're going to tackle this problem, not just saying it'll happen.

It's also a big deal that Ofcom is investigating whether X is following the Online Safety Act 📝. If they're found out of compliance, it could get them in a lot of trouble 🔥. This is a great opportunity for social media regulation to be strengthened and for platforms like X to show they can handle sensitive issues responsibly 👍.

I mean come on 🤦‍♂️, X needs to get its act together like my aunt's cooking 🍴... just kidding, but seriously, deepfakes that undress women and kids? That's just not okay 😞. I guess it's about time someone took the reins and said "no more of this nonsense" 💪. The UK government is on it, and if X doesn't shape up, they'll be in for a world of trouble 🤯. It's like when you leave your browser tabs open all night and your partner is like "what have I gotten myself into?" 😂. X needs to get its priorities straight and clean up this mess ASAP! 👊
