Wolves swoop in to strengthen their squad on Deadline Day, striking two major deals as they aim to bolster their Championship campaign. Striker Adam Armstrong joins from Southampton for a reported £7 million plus £2 million in potential add-ons, as the 28-year-old completes a three-and-a-half year deal with Wolves.
Armstrong brings a wealth of experience and goal-scoring prowess to Molineux, having netted 11 Championship goals this season. The deal is seen as a shrewd move by Wolves boss Rob Edwards, who praised Armstrong's commitment and work ethic. "He's someone I've admired for a long time," Edwards said. "He's a really good footballer, a goal threat and a goal scorer. He gives us real quality in that midfield area."
Meanwhile, midfielder Angel Gomes joins on loan from Marseille until the end of the season, with an option to buy. The England international brings technical ability and intelligence to the Wolves midfield, having played for Manchester United's academy before joining Lille last summer.
Gomes' arrival has been welcomed by Edwards, who acknowledged his excellent technical skills. "I'm delighted, really excited," Edwards said. "He gives us real quality in that midfield area. He's someone I've got a good relationship with, and we go back quite a long way now."
Wolves have also confirmed the loan signing of Pedro Lima from Porto, as well as the return of Fletcher Holman on an undisclosed deal.
Crystal Palace, meanwhile, has completed the club-record £48m signing of Strand Larsen from Wolves. The striker leaves the Premier League's bottom club after 18 months, having scored 14 Premier League goals last season before managing just one this term.
