WSL roundup: Chelsea get back into the groove at Spurs as Madonna watches on

Chelsea regained momentum in their Women's Super League title bid with a 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, thanks to goals from Keira Walsh and Alyssa Thompson. The victory ended Chelsea's run of consecutive defeats and propelled them to fifth place in the table, nine points off league leaders Manchester City.

Madonna was among the spectators on hand to watch her daughters Estere and Stella play for Tottenham in an under-14 academy game earlier in the week. She also caught up with the senior team at the weekend, as they struggled to capitalize on early momentum.

The hosts, Tottenham Hotspur, were left frustrated despite a few promising chances. Olivia Holdt hit the crossbar before Chelsea took the lead when Erin Cuthbert's corner was half-cleared. Walsh then scored the opening goal after Sjoeke Nรผsken's shot was saved by Lize Kop, with Thompson doubling their advantage in the second-half.

The loss to Tottenham left Manchester City three points clear at the top of the table, while Chelsea are now just nine points adrift.

In other results, Liverpool moved off the bottom of the table with a convincing 4-1 win against Aston Villa, while West Ham came from two goals down to beat Brighton 3-2. Everton secured a 1-0 win at London City Lionesses thanks to Inma Gabarro's goal, but goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan was the star of the show, making several crucial saves.

Chelsea is finally getting their act together ๐Ÿ™Œ! I mean, they were down for like what felt like forever and now they're back in the mix. Keira Walsh and Alyssa Thompson are killin' it out there ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ’ช. And poor Tottenham, they just couldn't capitalize on those chances ๐Ÿ˜. But hey, at least Madonna came to support her girls ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ซ. And Liverpool is finally out of the doghouse ๐Ÿถ! West Ham's comeback was insane though ๐Ÿคฏ, gotta love a good underdog story ๐Ÿ’–.

The recent triumph of Chelsea over Tottenham Hotspur in the Women's Super League has undoubtedly injected renewed vitality into their title bid ๐Ÿ˜Š. The clinical display by Keira Walsh and Alyssa Thompson served as a testament to Chelsea's growing cohesion and teamwork, which ultimately led to their 2-0 victory. This outcome not only halted Chelsea's consecutive defeats but also propelled them to fifth place in the table, with a respectable nine points separating them from league leaders Manchester City ๐Ÿ†. It is interesting to note that despite some promising chances, Tottenham Hotspur was unable to capitalize on the momentum they had initially gained, which could potentially hinder their own title aspirations ๐Ÿ”ด. Overall, this match highlights the competitive nature of the Women's Super League and the constant ebb and flow of results in the league.

Chelsea is like my auntie's gossip โ€“ sometimes they crash and burn, then suddenly turn it up ๐Ÿ”ฅ! I mean, who knew Keira Walsh had a rocket launcher for legs? ๐Ÿ˜‚ That goal was out of this world...literally! Meanwhile, Tottenham are like the quiet cousin at the family reunion โ€“ always showing up but never really getting in the spotlight ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Guess they'll just have to keep trying to get noticed...or at least get some decent snacks from Madonna's catering ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ

Ugh, I'm literally so done with this Women's Super League drama ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ’ฃ Chelsea finally got their act together and beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0, ending that awful losing streak of theirs ๐Ÿ˜ฉ But now they're just nine points behind the league leaders Manchester City... what even is the point of that? It's like, can't they just catch a break for once?! ๐Ÿ™„ And don't even get me started on Tottenham Hotspur, I mean I love Madonna and all, but come on girls, you got schooled by Chelsea ๐Ÿ˜‚. And Liverpool finally moved off the bottom with a 4-1 win against Aston Villa... about bloody time! ๐Ÿ’ฅ This league is just so unpredictable, one minute you're up the other minute you're down... can we just get some consistency already?! ๐Ÿคฏ

Chelsea is back in the game ๐Ÿ™Œ

Tottenham should've killed them off earlier โฐ

Madonna's there for her girls, love it ๐Ÿ‘ฏ

Manchester City's lead is getting a bit too comfy ๐Ÿ˜ด

Anyone else think Chelsea's gonna give it everything? ๐Ÿ’ช

just watched that chelsea game ๐Ÿคฉ they're lookin like a whole different team now, been strugglin for weeks but Walsh and Thompson just put on a show ๐Ÿ˜… gotta feel good for madonna watchin her girls play tho ๐Ÿ™ still think man city's gonna win it all though, 9 points back is a long shot ๐Ÿ‘€

omg u guys can't even imagine how tense this match was ๐Ÿคฏ!!! Chelsea came from absolutely nowhere to take down Spurs 2-0! I'm talking Keira Walsh and Alyssa Thompson both scoring in the 2nd half... it's like they just found their mojo again ๐Ÿ’ช. anyway, with this win, they're now only 9 points behind Manchester City ๐Ÿค‘. u think they can catch up? i doubt it lol ๐Ÿ‘€

omg i'm getting those retro vibes thinking about football in the past like remember when my dad used to take me to watch man u vs chelsea at old trafford stadium back in the day? now they're all grown up and playing for top teams lol what's with the goal celebrations tho, it seems so long since i've seen that kind of energy at a match. anyway, gotta say chelsea are doing well this season & their new signings are making a difference, but i'm still rooting for manchester city to take home that title

ugh this is so unfair!! Chelsea had such great chances to get back into it and they just couldn't capitalize ๐Ÿคฏ meanwhile madonna shows up and gets all the attention lol meanwhile, manchester city are just cruising at the top of the table... like what's the point even playing if you're not gonna win? and what happened to all that momentum they had earlier in the season? one minute they're on fire, next minute they're getting thrashed by spurs ๐Ÿ™„

omg u guys ๐Ÿคฉ, chelsea r on fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ now! ๐Ÿ’ช they had that crazy run of losses but got back on track with a 2-0 win at Tottenham ๐ŸŸ๏ธ and keira walsh is just ๐Ÿ”ฅ! โšฝ๏ธ i feel bad for tottenham tho ๐Ÿ˜” they had some promising chances but couldn't capitalize ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ. madonna was in the crowd watching her girls play though ๐Ÿ‘ฏ and that's all that matters ๐Ÿ’–. anyway, man city is still 3 points ahead but chelsea r gaining momentum โฑ๏ธ lets see how this season ends ๐ŸŽ‰.

omg i cant believe chelsea finally got back on track after those losses they really need this momentum going into the next games ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ† keira walsh and alyssa thompson were absolute goalscorers today!! โšฝ๏ธ๐Ÿ‘‘ also madonna was there cheering on her daughters how cool is that?? ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™€๏ธ and what's up with manchester city they're just dominating the league right now ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’ช

Chelsea finally broke their losing streak and it's about time they got back on track ๐Ÿ™Œ. I mean, who can't see that Manchester City is a different level from everyone else in the league? They're just dominating everything right now ๐Ÿ’ช. But, you know, at least Chelsea's team didn't look too bad out there. And btw, has anyone seen those girls Estere and Stella playing for Tottenham? Their mom Madonna must be so proud ๐Ÿคฉ. Anyway, gotta say, I'm loving the competitiveness in this league โ€“ it's making the games way more exciting โšฝ๏ธ. Can't wait to see what happens next!

I'm loving how Chelsea is getting back on track! ๐ŸŽ‰ They needed that win so bad. I drew a little diagram to visualize their comeback :

Man City is looking strong, but Chelsea's back in the mix! ๐Ÿค” And who knew Liverpool was gonna surprise us with that win? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ That 4-1 scoreline is insane!

omg yaaas Chelsea is back on track!!! ๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽ‰ their girls are killin it on the pitch and I love how they never gave up! ๐Ÿ’ช Keira Walsh and Alyssa Thompson are absolute goals and I'm loving their teamwork ๐Ÿคฉ now let's see if they can keep this momentum going and bring home that title ๐Ÿ’ซ

Chelsea's back in the game ๐Ÿ™Œ! I mean, it's about time they snapped out of that losing streak ๐Ÿ˜‚. Walsh and Thompson were on fire today โšฝ๏ธ. That win at Tottenham is huge for them, giving 'em some much-needed momentum. And I gotta feel for City - three points clear at the top, but can they keep it up? ๐Ÿ’ช Liverpool's movement off the bottom of the table is great news ๐Ÿ™Œ and West Ham's comeback against Brighton was insane ๐Ÿ˜ฒ! The Women's Super League never fails to deliver

OMG, what a comeback for Chelsea FC ๐Ÿคฉ #WomenInFootball! They totally deserved that win after their 3-game losing streak ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ’ช Keira Walsh and Alyssa Thompson were absolute goalscorers ๐Ÿ’ฅ I'm loving how confident they seem on the pitch now ๐ŸŒŸ Meanwhile, Tottenham just had a tough one ๐Ÿ˜” but hey, at least Madonna was there cheering on her girls ๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿ‘ต #TottenhamHotspur #WomenSoccer #MadonnaSpotted

omg u guys!!! chelsea is back on track!! they were so down but now they're gaining momentum and i love it!!! ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ† keira walsh and alyssa thompson are absolute goalscorers ๐Ÿ’ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ and i'm glad madonna came to support her girls, esp with an under-14 game earlier in the week ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™€๏ธ lets keep cheering on these amazing players!!! ๐Ÿ’ช

omg I'm lovin it when Chelsea gets back on track ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ”ฅ their win over Tottenham is like a breath of fresh air ๐Ÿ˜Œ and Keira Walsh and Alyssa Thompson are goals Galore ๐ŸŽฏ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ•บ now they just need to keep the momentum goin' and who knows maybe they'll be the ones topin' the table soon ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ˜

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how Chelsea are even in this competition anymore ๐Ÿคฏ It's like they just found a magic switch that flips their games on its head - I mean, we've all seen those "comeback kid" stories before, but this is on another level. I guess when you're down 10 points and have 20 players vying for a spot in the starting lineup, something has to give... or click ๐ŸŒŸ

The thing that always gets me is how these women are having to carry their teams on their shoulders all season long. Erin Cuthbert is like the real MVP here - not just scoring goals but also keeping her team's hopes alive with a single corner kick ๐ŸŽฏ

I love seeing celebrities in the stands cheering on their daughters, though. Madonna seems like she was genuinely excited for Estere and Stella's under-14 game - it's heartwarming to see famous parents being so supportive of their kids' passions โค๏ธ
