Egyptian Queen's 673 Diamond Necklace Stolen in Vienna Smash and Grab Raid The brazen theft of a 673 diamond necklace from the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna has left European cultural institutions reeling.
On Thursday afternoon, two men smashed a glass display case with a hammer, stealing the $4. 3 million platinum necklace during opening hours.
The necklace once belonged to Queen Consort Nazli of Egypt and was last sold by Sotheby's in New York in 2015. It has been on loan to several institutions since then.
