Methamphetamine Menace Enters Sri Lankan Scene A joint operation between US and Sri Lankan anti narcotics agents has resulted in a significant haul of crystal methamphetamine, valued at $21 million.

The seizure of 463kg of this potent synthetic drug from a shipping container in Colombo highlights the transnational nature of modern day trafficking networks.

Since October 2025, Sri Lanka's authorities have seized nearly 14 tonnes of illicit drugs, including methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine.
