Metro Detroit is set to welcome a slew of new restaurants and bars in the coming year, with over a dozen establishments expected to open their doors by late 2026. From craft breweries to Asian fusion cuisine, these eateries promise to bring something fresh to the city's dining scene.
Gardenside Brewing has announced plans to transform a plot of land in Detroit's Core City neighborhood into a brewery and farm-to-table food menu, with large bright windows and a lush landscape. The project, which has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the state of Michigan, aims to open by late 2026.
A third location for Joe Louis Southern Kitchen is set to open in downtown Detroit, joining existing spots in New Center and Southfield. The restaurant, named after the city's legendary boxer, serves up Southern-inspired comfort food and brunch dishes.
Medusa Cucina Siciliana, an Italian eatery with a focus on Sicilian cuisine, is also planning to open in Midtown. Founded by Anthony Lombardo, co-owner of SheWolf Pastifico & Bar, Medusa will offer pasta, seafood, and other Mediterranean-inspired dishes.
Bev's Bagels, which recently opened its first brick-and-mortar location in Core City, has announced plans to expand to Ann Arbor. The bagel shop, founded by Max Sussman, aims to open a second location at 115 W. Liberty St. later this year.
Supino Pizzeria is also set to open its third location in Beverly Hills, marking the first time the popular Detroit pizzeria has expanded beyond the city limits. Founded by Dave Mancini in 2008, Supino has gained a loyal following for its thin-crust pies and creative topping combinations.
Waka, a food truck spinoff of Detroit's Baobab Fare, is planning to move into the former Russell Street Deli at 2465 Russell St. in Eastern Market. The eatery, specializing in East African cuisine, aims to bring a new flavor profile to the city's dining scene.
