I just feel for Martinez's family and loved ones, they must be going through an unimaginable pain 
... it's all too senseless and violent 
... what's next, I mean 14 is still really young, I hope justice is served but at the same time I'm worried about what the future holds for that poor kid 
i saw the video of him waking up from gunshot wounds and it literally gave me chills 
i just wanna know what was going on in that boy's head to do something so heinous like that

I'm all for holding him accountable for his actions, but at what cost to the system? Maybe it's time to revisit the laws regarding minors and their treatment in the court system. And by the way, 18 is not old, so don't even get me started on that

maybe this is an opportunity to re-think our laws around juvenile detention and make sure that kids aren't being thrown into the system without support or guidance? 
. But seriously, what's the deal with this youth incarceration rate?! 
According to the FBI, the US has one of the highest rates of juvenile incarceration in the world 
. The data says we've got around 55,000 minors locked up each year 
. And for what? So they can be groomed into a life of crime or just learn how to rock a pair of adult-sized handcuffs

! We've got to rethink our approach. Young Jayden didn't exactly have a stellar track record before shooting his friend 
or anything. But we need to consider his age and the impact it'll have on his life (and our society) going forward

It's like we're throwing away resources left and right. Can't we find alternative solutions to rehabilitation instead of locking 'em up

. 14-year-olds are still kids, they're supposed to make mistakes and learn from them, right? Charging him with murder just because he's young is harshing the mellow of youth itself 
. And let's be real, it's gonna come out that Jayden was bullied at school or something... poor kid got desperate
