Two men, aged 35 and 25, have been arrested in Maine after evading authorities for months following the fatal shooting of a Brockton man. Michael Thompson was charged with first-degree murder while Dayana Slade faces accessory to murder charges.
The incident occurred on September 23, 2025, at Finnegan Park in Brockton, where police found two victims with gunshot wounds. One victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, while the other, Mike Jonas, aged 40, succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital due to multiple gunshot and stab wounds.
According to prosecutors, Thompson, Slade, and another woman were seen leaving the scene in an SUV following an altercation in the park. Surveillance footage showed Thompson's vehicle leaving the area with two females on board, including Slade.
Thompson was arraigned on Friday and denied bail while facing a murder charge. Slade pleaded not guilty to accessory charges and was released on $250,000 cash bail. The arrest marks the end of months-long efforts by authorities to track down Thompson and Slade.
Attorneys for the two men have yet to comment on the case. Prosecutors believe that Thompson's alleged involvement in Jonas' death led to his extended evasion of police.
