A snowboarder got buried upside down in snow. See skier’s quick reaction. | CNN

A harrowing incident unfolded on the slopes of Mt. Baker in Washington when a snowboarder became trapped upside down in a tree well, with skier Francis Zuber springing into action to save him.

Eyewitnesses say that Zuber's calm and quick-thinking demeanor was instrumental in preventing what could have been a disastrous outcome. With his training and experience, he navigated the treacherous terrain with ease, reaching the stranded snowboarder and carefully extricating him from the tree well before calling for further assistance.

Zuber's heroics have sparked widespread praise on social media, with many hailing his actions as a textbook example of what to do in such a situation. The skier himself has urged others to take up rescue courses, emphasizing the importance of being prepared and trained in such emergency situations.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks involved in snowboarding and the importance of taking necessary safety precautions. It also highlights the bravery and selflessness of individuals like Zuber who are willing to put themselves at risk to help others in need.

As one viewer noted, "Francis's reaction was incredibly calm and composed under pressure. He's an inspiration to us all." With his heroic actions, Zuber has not only saved a life but also set a shining example for the snowboarding community on the importance of staying vigilant and taking action in emergency situations.

🤔 I'm not gonna say that Francis Zuber is a total hero just 'cause everyone's giving him a gold star... he did do a pretty cool thing, tho 🌟. But let's be real, what's the likelihood of someone getting trapped upside down in a tree well and then someone just happens to be nearby who knows how to save them? It's not like this never happened before or that Zuber was just sitting around waiting for someone to need saving 😂.

I mean, I'm all for being prepared and stuff, but let's not forget that we're talking about a guy who happened to have the right skills at the right time 🤦‍♂️. And what if he wasn't there? Would we be praising someone else as a hero? 🤔

It's also kinda weird how this incident has turned into a cautionary tale about snowboarding safety... but what about all the other people who are just out having fun on the slopes, not thinking about these kinds of scenarios? Shouldn't they be getting praised for not panicking and taking care of themselves first? 🤷‍♂️

🤯 what's crazy is that this guy just happened to be skiing with the person who got stuck 🤕 and he just happens to know how to do rescue stuff... it's like fate or something! 👀 I mean, if you're gonna get stuck in a tree well, having someone like Zuber around would be a dream come true 😂. But seriously, this whole thing is wild because it could've gone so wrong and he just saves the guy's life 💪. I'm definitely taking note of this and thinking about signing up for some rescue courses myself 🤔. It's crazy how one person can make such a huge difference in an emergency situation 💥.

man this guy franz zuber is like a real-life superhero 🦸‍♂️ i mean what would've happened if he didn't jump into action? that tree well is literally a death trap for skiers/snowboarders... i'm so glad he's getting the props he deserves on social media, but let's not forget to spread the word about those rescue courses he's talking about – safety first, you know? 🤦‍♂️ and kudos to him for staying calm under pressure, that's the kind of bravery we need more of! 👏

🚨 just read about this crazy story where some dude got stuck in a tree well on Mt Baker 🏔️ and someone named Francis Zuber saves his life... like what are the chances? 😱 I'm still trying to wrap my head around it, but seriously, you gotta be super prepared and trained to know what to do in that situation. And can you imagine being stuck upside down with no way out? 🤯 It's a good reminder to always stay safe on the slopes and take those rescue courses if you haven't already... doesn't want any accidents happening next time around 💀

I'm loving the heroics of Francis Zuber, no doubt about it 😊. But can we get some more info on this rescue mission? What exactly happened leading up to it? Was the tree well a known hazard? And what kind of training did Zuber receive that allowed him to spring into action like that? I need some sources to back up these claims 🤔. Also, isn't it interesting that we're only hearing about this now? Shouldn't there be some sort of investigation or report on the incident itself before we start praising Zuber's heroics? Just saying 👀

omg this guy francis zuber is literally a hero 🙌 i cant even handle how calm he was in that situation 😲 what if anyone else had reacted like that?? the skier who got stuck would probs still be there today lol anyway im super grateful for ppl like zuber who are willing to put themselves in harm's way 2 help others, its so inspiring! 🤩 i think we should all take a page outta his book & get trained in rescue courses u never know when u might need 2 save someone else's life 😂

🤔 just another near death experience that highlights how quickly things can go wrong on the mountain 👎. i mean, that tree well is literally a death trap 🌲😬. glad zuber was trained to handle these kinds of situations or who knows what could've happened 😟. but seriously though, shouldn't people be taking rescue courses like he's pushing for? it's just basic safety protocol, right? 💦

omg u no wth happened 2 dat snowboarder @ mt baker! 🤯 he got stuck upside down in a tree well & Francis Zuber is like "hey i got this" 😎 & saved him!! i'm dyin over here how calm & quick thinking zuber was its like, textbook hero mode 📚👏 u should totes take up rescue courses if ur into snowboarding, esp with stuff like this happenin!

Wow 🤯 Francis Zuber is literally a hero 😊! I mean, can you even imagine being stuck upside down in a tree well? It's crazy how he stayed so calm and got that guy out safely 💪. And it's awesome that he's now spreading the word about getting trained for rescue situations 🎉. Safety first on the slopes is always the best policy! 😊

I mean can u believe that guy just chillin' down there in the tree well lol 😂 but seriously tho, Francis Zuber is like a real-life superhero! I've been skiing with my friends for years and we never thought about what to do if someone gets stuck like that 🤦‍♂️. It's great that he's spreading awareness about taking rescue courses, it's so underrated tbh. And yeah, it's a harsh reminder of the risks involved in snowboarding but also that there are people out there who are willing to put themselves in harm's way to help others 💪. Let's get more people like Francis Zuber out there! 👏

I'm glad someone's finally talking about how crazy it is that people think being "calm under pressure" is just some innate skill 🙄. Like, no, it's not. It's training and experience too! Francis Zuber got lucky, but we shouldn't be praising him for doing his job - if everyone who had the chance to respond like he did would take up rescue courses, there'd be way fewer accidents on the slopes 🤦‍♂️.

And let's not forget that skiers aren't even trained for this stuff! What about the people who get caught in those tree wells and don't have some adrenaline-junkie like Zuber to bail them out? It's not all sunshine and rainbows, being a hero on the mountain. Sometimes you just gotta accept that risks come with the territory 🤯.

So yeah, Francis Zuber did save a life, but let's not make him out to be some kind of superhero. The real heroes are those who take the time to learn about how to respond in emergencies - like, seriously, have you seen the training courses for this stuff? 📚

Just saw that crazy video of Francis Zuber rescuing some dude stuck in a tree well at Mt. Baker 🤯 I mean, talk about quick thinking! That guy's training paid off big time. It's awesome to see someone step up like that and save the day. You can't help but feel inspired by his bravery and selflessness 💪 I'm glad he's encouraging others to take rescue courses too, 'cause safety first is for real in situations like this. It just goes to show how crazy and unpredictable life can be, so it's good we've got people like Francis who are ready for anything 🌲

omg can you even imagine being stuck upside down in a tree well lol i'm so glad Francis was there to save that dude his calmness under pressure is super inspiring 🙌 like we need more people who are willing to jump into rescue mode without thinking twice 👍 and yeah safety precautions are everything especially when it comes to snowboarding - we gotta be extra careful out there 💥 so kudos to Francis for being a hero & a great reminder for us all to take care of each other 🤗

omg what a hero 🙌 Francis Zuber is literally a lifesaver 😲 his reaction was so calm I'm trying to be like that when I'm stuck in a weird situation lol 1st time i've ever seen someone spring into action like that on the slopes 👏 taking rescue courses sounds like an amazing idea I wish I had done that before 🤦‍♂️ snowboarding can be super intense but having people like Francis around makes me feel way safer 😊

just wow... that guy zuber is literally a hero 😊. i mean, can you imagine being trapped upside down in a tree well with no way out? he must've had so much adrenaline pumping through his veins but still managed to stay calm and think clearly 🤯. it's amazing how his training and experience kicked in to save that snowboarder's life. we should all take a page from zuber's book and get trained for emergency situations, you never know when you'll need it 🏔️💦

OMG, can u believe that guy Francis Zuber just saved some dude's life from upside down in a tree well?! 🤯 I'm literally shaking thinking about how close he came to not being able to get them out 😨. And what's even more amazing is that he just happened to be there and knew exactly what to do. It's like he was born for this kind of thing! 🙌 His training must've paid off big time because it looked super intense to watch, I would've freaked out! 😂 But seriously though, we're all so grateful for people like him who risk their own lives to help others. He should be totally celebrated and maybe get a medal or something! 💥

🙄 I'm surprised it took a near-death experience for someone to realize that having basic training is a good idea. Like, Francis Zuber's 'quick-thinking demeanor' is totally not something you're taught in school? 🤷‍♂️ Anyway, I guess his actions speak louder than any old YouTube video or rescue course...but let's be real, it's probably just the whole 'not dying' thing that made him a hero 😊. And can we please take a moment to appreciate how easy it is for Francis to navigate treacherous terrain while being upside down in a tree well? I mean, that's some serious ninja skills right there 🤸‍♂️

omg I'm literally shook by this story 🤯! I mean, can you even imagine being trapped upside down in a tree well? 😱 it's crazy to think about how close that guy would've been to not making it out alive. And then Francis Zuber comes along and saves the day with his calm and quick thinking 💪🏼 it's like something out of a movie! 🎥 I love how he's now spreading awareness about taking rescue courses too, it's so admirable 🙌 we should all take note and get trained up just in case. And seriously, Francis is a total hero 👑 not just for saving that guy's life but also for showing everyone what it means to be brave and selfless ❤️

I'm still skeptical about these 'rescue courses' they're pushing now 🤔. I mean, what's to stop some dude from just winging it and causing more harm? And what's with all the praise for Zuber, yeah he did a good job but can we really put our trust in him to react like that every time? It's one thing when you're dealing with a tree well, another thing entirely when you're on a plane or something. I'm not saying we shouldn't be prepared, just let's keep things realistic here 🙃. And have you seen the state of some of these ski resorts? It's like they're asking for trouble... 🏂
