Central Texas Residents Urged to Give Back $10 Million During Amplify Austin Day
As the annual Amplify Austin Day approaches, residents of Central Texas are being called upon to join forces with over 700 nonprofits in seven counties, aiming to raise a record-breaking $10 million. The two-day online giving event will take place from March 4th at 6 p.m. to March 5th at 6 p.m.
The initiative, spearheaded by I Live Here I Give Here, provides a centralized platform for donors to support organizations that cater to various causes such as animal welfare, the environment, arts, veterans' services, and basic needs. Early donations began on January 28th and will count towards nonprofit totals, adding to the urgency of this year's goal.
According to Piper Stege Nelson, Executive Director of I Live Here I Give Here, Amplify Austin Day has grown significantly since its inception over a decade ago. The event aims to surpass last year's $9.7 million raise, bringing the total amount donated to over $122 million.
The financial boost is crucial for nonprofits of all sizes, with 25% of organizations being entirely volunteer-led. Organizations like Meals on Wheels of Central Texas rely heavily on this funding, providing thousands of meals daily to older adults and homebound residents.
CEO Henry Van de Putte emphasized the importance of Amplify Austin Day, stating that it brings attention to local nonprofits that many residents may not know about. The event allows individuals to create fundraising pages, donate, or volunteer their time to support various causes.
With rising costs and increasing needs in Central Texas, Amplify Austin Day has become an essential platform for community members to make a difference. Even small donations can have a significant impact, according to Nelson, who encouraged donors to give whatever they can, whether it's $5 or 50 minutes of their time.
Community members can participate by donating online, creating fundraising pages, joining employer giving efforts, or volunteering their time between March 4th and 5th. The event's success relies on the collective effort of residents, businesses, and nonprofits working together to make a lasting impact in Central Texas.
