'At first I was horrified by it!': the Royal Ballet brings back 60s cult classic Pierrot Lunaire

I gotta say, this Pierrot Lunaire revival is gonna be lit 🤩! I mean, who doesn't love a good dose of atonal music and emotional intensity? 😂 Glen Tetley's choreography was ahead of its time, if you ask me. The fact that it's being revived now just goes to show how groundbreaking his work truly was.

But what really gets me is the way Marcelino Sambé describes Pierrot Lunaire as a "journey from innocence into adulthood". That's some deep stuff right there 💭. I can see why he'd find the music challenging - it's like, totally avant-garde and all that jazz 🎶.

The use of live music on stage is also gonna add this whole new layer of intimacy to the performance. It's not just about the dancers, it's about the atmosphere and the emotions they're evoking in the audience 🌃.

I'm definitely stoked to see this production come together! The combination of modern dance techniques and classical methods is like, totally on point 💯. Bring on the Pierrot Lunaire revival! 👏

Pierrot Lunaire is gonna be SO good 🤩 - Marcelino Sambé's take on Pierrot as "a journey from innocence into adulthood" is gonna be mesmerizing 💥

🤩 Omg I'm so stoked that the Royal Ballet is reviving Pierrot Lunaire! It's such an iconic piece with a unique blend of modernism and classical techniques. The fact that Marcelino Sambé will be dancing as Pierrot alongside Joshua Junker is going to be amazing! 😍 The ballet's dark and poignant themes are just so thought-provoking, it's like, you'll be sitting there watching the performance and then suddenly think about all these deeper meanings 🤯. I've always loved Glen Tetley's choreography, he's a genius! 💥 And can't wait to see this production come alive with live music on stage - it's going to be such an intimate experience for the audience 🎶. Bring on the tears and the goosebumps! 😭

🤯 I'm kinda torn about this, I guess... On one hand, I think it's awesome that The Royal Ballet is bringing back Pierrot Lunaire – it's a classic that deserves to be performed again! 🎭 Marcelino Sambé and Joshua Junker are going to do an amazing job dancing those iconic roles. And can we talk about how cool it is that they're using live music on stage? It's gonna be so immersive! 🎵 But, at the same time... I don't know if I'm ready for a production that's "both uncomfortable and beautiful" 😳 I mean, what even is that supposed to mean? Sounds kinda... pretentious? 🤔 And, can we please discuss how amazing Glen Tetley was as a choreographer? He really did pioneer modern dance in the UK! 💪

🤔 I'm not sure about this whole revival thing... I mean, I know Pierrot Lunaire is a classic and all that, but some of these modern dance productions can be super pretentious 🙄. Like, I get it, Glen Tetley was a pioneer in bringing modernism to the UK ballet scene, but does that really need to be screamed from the rooftops? It's just a piece of art, right? And what's with the "dark and poignant themes" thing? Is it really necessary to make such a big deal about it being uncomfortable to watch? I mean, can't we just enjoy it for its own sake without feeling like we need to dissect every little nuance? 💭

I'm so down for this revival of Pierrot Lunaire! It's like, totally mind-blowing to think about Glen Tetley bringing modern dance techniques to the UK back in 62 🤯. I mean, who would've thought that unconventional movements and emotional intensity would be all the rage? 😂 The fact that it's still holding up today is just amazing. And Marcelino Sambé sounds like he's totally getting into character, too... "a journey from innocence into adulthood" is such a deep vibe 🌙. I'm curious to see how Joshua Junker brings his own spin to the role, and live music on stage? Genius move! Can't wait for this production 🎭
