Aurora Man Charged with First-Degree Murder in Ex-Wife's Death in Oswego

Ryan Dodd, 44, is facing a slew of felony charges following the brutal murder of his ex-wife, Ashley Stewart, 41, in her home in Oswego last month. The Aurora man allegedly broke into Stewart's residence, claiming to be concerned for her safety after seeing a video surveillance footage of another individual entering her home.

However, instead of rescuing her, Dodd reportedly attacked Stewart with a knife, leaving her multiple sharp force injuries that ultimately proved fatal. According to the Oswego Police Department, Dodd was charged with first-degree murder, as well as several other serious offenses including home invasion, armed violence, residential burglary, and aggravated stalking.

The case has sent shockwaves through the community, with many expressing outrage and sympathy for Stewart's family. A GoFundMe campaign set up by her loved ones has so far raised over $55,000 towards a goal of $60,000, highlighting the devastating impact of Dodd's actions on those left behind.

OMG u guyz this dude Ryan Dodd is like literally insane ?? how can someone do such thing 2 innocent person Ashley Stewart was just tryna live her life & he comes outta nowhere & murders her 1st degree murder?? the sentence should be a lil harsher in my opinion lol but i guess thats just how the law works now

Ugh man, this just breaks my heart 🤕. The fact that some dude would break into his ex's house and think it's okay to stab her is just sickening 😷. I mean, what kind of guy does that? And now Ashley's family is having to deal with all this grief and stress...it's just not right 😔.

I remember when I was in a bad breakup, my friends and I would always have each other's backs, you know? We'd go out, grab some drinks, and forget about the drama 🍺. But I guess that's just not how it works for everyone. This guy must've been having some serious issues...I don't even want to think about what could've led him to do something so heinous 😱.

Anyway, I hope the dude gets a life sentence or whatever...it should be, considering what he did 💔. And Ashley's family...they need all that money they raised, it's just not fair 🤑.

OMG 🤯 this is just crazy! I mean, I've seen some wild stuff online, but breaking into your ex-wife's house and killing her? That's like something out of a bad movie 🎥. And to make matters worse, he claimed to be concerned for her safety after seeing someone else at the door? Give me a break 😂. The fact that he actually attacked her with a knife is just horrific 💔. I'm so glad the police were able to catch him and put an end to this senseless violence. 55k for the GoFundMe campaign is still a lot of money, but at least people are stepping up to support Ashley's family during this tough time 🙏. Can't even imagine what they're going through 😭.

OMG this is just SO SAD!!! I cant even imagine what ashleys family must be going thru right now. The fact that some guy would break into her house and attack her like that is just unbelievable. And to think he was claiming he was trying to save her life is just sickening. The fact that hes been charged with so many serious crimes is a good start, but I hope justice is served ASAP. Im also glad that people are coming together to support ashleys family through the gofundme campaign 🤕💔

I'm still trying to wrap my head around this one 😱. I mean, who breaks into their ex's house and then attacks them with a knife? It's like something out of a bad movie. And to make matters worse, he was trying to play it off as if he was there to help her when in reality he was just looking for a way to hurt her. 🤯 The fact that he's facing felony charges is the least he deserves. I'm so glad Ashley's family has been able to come together and raise money for her loved ones - it's definitely needed after what they've gone through 💔. It's just heartbreaking to think about how one person can cause so much pain and destruction in someone's life 🤕.

🤯 I just can't believe this is happening in our times. It feels like something straight out of a crime drama TV show from the 90s or early 2000s, you know? Like, what was he thinking breaking into his ex's house and then attacking her with a knife? It's just so... violent. 😱 And now she's gone, leaving behind this huge family and friends who are all trying to make sense of it all.

I remember when I was younger, my grandma used to tell me about how crime rates were supposed to be going down back in the 80s, but it seems like that never happened. Now it feels like we're stuck in a loop of violence and fear. 🌪️ And the worst part is, this could have been prevented if he'd just communicated with her properly or sought help instead of resorting to such extreme measures.

Anyway, I'm just so sad for Ashley's family and loved ones. It's heartbreaking to see people going through this kind of trauma. 💔

I'm literally shaking my head reading about this guy Ryan Dodd 🤯. Like, what's wrong with this dude? He claims he was checking on his ex-wife because he cared about her safety and all that, but really he just saw an opportunity to kill someone and take their stuff 🤑. And then the audacity to break into her home in the first place?! Home invasion is like, a whole different level of messed up.

And you know what really gets me? He's facing life in prison without parole, which might be fitting for his actions 😒. But can we talk about Ashley Stewart's family for a sec? They're dealing with this unimaginable tragedy and the financial burden on top of it is just heartbreaking 💸. I mean, 55k raised so far isn't even close to what they need, but you know, every little bit counts, right?

Anyway, I'm gonna say this - no one deserves to die like that. No matter how bad a relationship gets, there's always help available 🤝. If Ryan Dodd had just reached out for support instead of resorting to violence, who knows what could've been? It's all so... tragic 🌹
