Bank of Scotland fined £160,000 over account for sanctioned Putin ally

I'm not surprised this happened tbh 🤔. I mean, sanctions are complex and hard to navigate, especially for big institutions like banks. It's good that they're taking responsibility and strengthening their controls, but 160k is still a pretty steep fine 😬. I think it's also worth noting that the misspelled name thing is quite suspicious - how did he even get a UK passport with that error? 🤷‍♂️ Still, glad OFSI caught this and took action to prevent similar breaches in the future 💯.

🤔 "The truth is rarely pure and never simple." - Oscar Wilde 😳 The £160,000 fine on Bank of Scotland highlights how complex sanctions regimes can lead to errors, but its cooperation with the regulator helped ease the blow. It's a reminder that vigilance is key in these situations, and even with the best intentions, mistakes can still happen. 💸
