Beautiful Little Fool review – F Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald musical needs jazzing up

I just saw the craziest video on YouTube of a cat playing the piano like a pro 🐈🎹, but it got me thinking, have you ever noticed how some breeds of cats are just naturally more talented at doing cute things? Like, have you seen those little grey and white Scottish Fold kitties? They're like tiny little ballerinas on legs 😺. I swear, I could watch a whole hour of them just frolicking around the stage... anyway, back to Beautiful Little Fool... what's up with musical scores these days? Mine always sound way more epic when I'm listening to it in my car πŸš—πŸŽ΅, like, this show was kinda underwhelming for me too πŸ€”.

omg, i'm so disappointed with this musical πŸ€•... like, i love scott & zelda's story, but this show just felt like it was phoning it in πŸ“Ί. all the good stuff about their relationship - the parties, the writing, the struggles - got lost in a sea of predictable tropes and shallow themes. i mean, can't we get something more nuanced than 'oh look, they had some problems'? πŸ’” it's not like they didn't write some amazing books together... anyway, hope there's better stuff coming soon 🀞🌟

Ugh, I was SO stoked for this musical but it just fell flat πŸ˜’. I mean, I love The Great Gatsby as much as the next person, but this show felt like a watered-down version of their story 🌊. They had some great performances from Lauren Ward and David Hunter, but it wasn't enough to save the whole thing from feeling like a predictable romp through F Scott's inner turmoil πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. And don't even get me started on the score - I was expecting so much more from Hannah Corneau! It felt like they just phoned it in and relied on tired tropes instead of digging deeper into their relationship πŸ’”.

πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ just saw this review of Beautiful Little Fool... anyway, stats say 75% of Broadway shows fail to impress critics πŸ“‰... but I guess that's not true here... πŸ™„ still, 90% of audience members are reporting "meh" reviews on social media πŸ€”... seems like a classic case of overly relying on familiar tropes πŸ“Š - did you know that 65% of all Broadway shows follow the "rags-to-riches" narrative? πŸ€‘... I mean, can't we do better than that? πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈ

I mean come on πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ, another attempt at adapting the Fitzgeralds' story into a stage show and it just falls flat 🎭. The framing device sounds promising but honestly it feels like they were just going through the motions. I'd love to see more depth and nuance in their exploration of Zelda's struggles with mental health and her complicated relationship with Scott πŸ‘€. And that score? Forgettable 😴. It feels like Hannah Corneau took a few notes from every generic musical soundtrack out there 🎡. Can't we try something new for once? πŸ€”
