OMG u guyz, can't believe Betfair is gettin away with this ! Like they're sayin they took steps 2 stop Morford but still made a mil in profits from his losses? That's just wrong, fam . And don't even get me started on the fact that they allowed him 2 gamble on using a new account under his dad's name... that's just sneaky . Campaigners r right 2 be all like "hand over da money" - Morford got screwed by Betfair & it's time they pay up
I'm not sure if Betfair is entirely at fault here... they did close Morford's original account in 2017, which suggests they were trying to protect player safety. But, at the same time, allowing him to create a new account under his dad's name and failing to spot the self-exclusion history is pretty questionable . Maybe it's not entirely clear-cut? I mean, Morford was a finance manager who'd stolen from his employer... that's some serious stuff. Should Betfair be made to give up its profits or are they just getting a raw deal? It's complicated...
omg, can't believe Betfair is getting slammed like this ... they had multiple chances to stop that guy from using stolen cash, but just kept raking in the commissions . it's crazy how their VIP program was basically used as a way to encourage more losses . and to think that Morford lost over £1m... it's just heartbreaking . i'm all for players having fun, but not at the expense of others getting hurt . I guess we'll see what happens next ... one thing's for sure, Betfair won't be making any new friends anytime soon .
omg i cant believe betfair made so much cash off some bloke who was scammed the whole thing is just gross, they shouldve done more to stop him using their site. its not right that they get to keep all that money when someone else lost out big time and the fact that they had an employee raise concerns but didnt act on it is even more suspicious
Ugh, this is so not surprising . Betfair knew or should've known that Morford was a total scam artist & they were just too lazy to do something about it . They got paid handsomely from him losing loads of cash, and now they're saying they followed the rules? Please, someone's gotta take 'em down for being so reckless . It's not like this is the first time a major betting site's gotten caught doing shady stuff... just another example of how greedy operators will exploit players who can't even look after themselves . Anyway, gotta see how this whole thing plays out, fingers crossed justice gets served .
I'm kinda disappointed with this situation . Betfair should've done more to stop Andrew Morford from using stolen money on their site, especially since they had concerns about his betting activity in 2022 and 2023. It's not just about player safety, but also about doing the right thing by customers who get scammed out of big sums of cash . I mean, £200k is a lot of commissions to make from someone who's lost over £1m due to their own actions... it seems like Betfair was more interested in making that money than helping Morford get back on his feet . Still, I hope they do come to some kind of agreement that makes sense for everyone involved
