BLM protesters hijack LA Police Commission meeting in latest anti- ICE, anti-cop protest

Los Angeles Police Commission Meeting Hijacked by Protesting Activists

A tense standoff unfolded at a Los Angeles Police Commission meeting on Tuesday, as hundreds of Black Lives Matter protesters stormed the room, drowning out speakers and forcing officials to flee. The dramatic takeover was orchestrated by BLM Los Angeles, which had openly called for supporters to attend and disrupt the meeting.

The protest was sparked by the fatal shooting of Keith Porter, 43, who was killed in an off-duty federal immigration agent's apartment on New Year's Eve. Authorities claim that Porter fired a rifle into the air before being shot by the agent, but his family and activists argue that he was simply celebrating the start of the new year.

The protesters, many wearing "F–k the police" t-shirts and carrying signs with slogans like "Abolish Police," demanded that the ICE agent involved in Porter's death be arrested. Despite efforts by newly installed commission President Teresa Sánchez-Gordon to regain control, the chanting crowd overpowered her attempts to restore order.

The disruption was no spontaneous outburst, as BLM Los Angeles had organized the event weeks in advance, encouraging supporters to attend and make their voices heard. The group's tactics mirrored those used at a recent anti-police presentation hosted by Councilwoman Eunisses Hernandez, where protesters wore "Abolish Police" jackets and called for slashing LAPD funding.

As the protest escalated, officials cleared the room, citing safety concerns. Meanwhile, Porter's family and supporters continued to push for accountability, with many calling for the arrest of the ICE agent involved in his death. The incident highlights ongoing tensions between protesters and law enforcement in Los Angeles, with some activists accusing police of overreacting to perceived threats.

🤔 Just watched this crazy scene unfold on my screen... so messed up that it's like a movie script. Can't believe how the protesters took control and made everyone flee. It's not just about justice for Keith Porter, but also about the systemic issues that lead to these situations. We need more dialogue, not just shouting matches 😕

omg u wont bliev wut happnd @ LAP Commission meeting 2day 🤯! hundreds of ppl from BLM stormed the room & took ovr 😡! they r protestin against some dude who got shot by an ICE agent while celebratin new yr... but it didnt stop ther. protesters started chantin & yellin & even wore "Fk th police" tshirts 🤪! officials tried 2 regain control but no luck 🙅‍♂️. its like somethin out of a movie 🎥. i feel 4 the fam of that dude who got killed tho... dey r clearly hurtin 😔

🤯 I'm so shook by what happened at that LAPD Commission meeting yesterday 🤕 Those protesters were literally screaming over the officials trying to speak... it's crazy how passionate people are about this issue 💪 But honestly, can't we all just talk about this stuff without resorting to chaos? 😩 The fact that someone lost their life and now there's an agent being investigated is super concerning 🤔 We need answers, but not at the expense of civility 💬

OMG 😱... can't believe what's happening at the LAPD meeting 🤯... how can ppl just take over a public meeting like that? 🙄 I get where the protesters are coming from, all about justice and accountability for Keith Porter's death 💔... but isn't there a way to do it without being so... confrontational? 😕 And what about Teresa Sánchez-Gordon trying to regain control? wasn't she the one in charge of organizing this meeting in the first place 🤷‍♀️? also, I feel bad for the ICE agent involved - was he really justified in shooting Porter? 🚫 did he even follow protocol? 💔

Ugh I'm so done with this cycle... I remember when they did that anti-police presentation by Councilwoman Eunisses Hernandez a few weeks ago 🙄 and now here we are, same tactics, different meeting... it's like they're trying to create these situations just to stir up more trouble. Can't we all just talk about this stuff without resorting to chaos? And what's with the timing? New Year's Eve is supposed to be a time for celebration and reflection, not violence. It feels like we're stuck in some kind of cycle here...

Wait, I had a thought earlier about how these protests might be related to the Porter case... it seemed like a pretty clear-cut situation to me, but I guess the BLM people aren't so sure 🤔. And what's with the different versions of events? It's like we're never going to get to the bottom of this...

By the way, has anyone else noticed how some protesters seem more interested in disrupting the meeting than actually bringing about change? 🤷‍♂️

🤔 This whole situation is really frustrating, you know? It's like both sides are dug in and not willing to listen to each other. The police commission meeting was meant for constructive dialogue, but it got hijacked by the protests 🚫. I get that the Black Lives Matter protesters are upset about Keith Porter's death, but some of their tactics are super confrontational 😬.

The thing is, we need to find a way to address these issues without resorting to violence or intimidation 🤝. The fact that BLM Los Angeles organized this protest in advance just adds fuel to the fire 🔥. Can't we all just try to understand each other's perspectives and work together to create positive change? 🌈 I'm not saying the police don't have a role to play in addressing systemic racism, but surely there are more constructive ways to do it 💡.

It's all about finding that balance between being heard and respecting others' right to life and livelihoods 💪. We need to work towards solutions, not just pointing fingers 🙅‍♂️.

idk why ppl gotta make a big deal outta this... like, yeah porter was killed by an off-duty agent, but is it really that simple? what if he was just being reckless & put himself in harm's way? dont get me wrong, his fam deserves justice 2, but let's not jump 2 conclusions here. BLM's tactics might b extreme, but ppl r tired of feeling unsafe & oppressed by authorities 4cally. LAPD's gotta take responsibility 4 their actions & listen 2 the voices of those affected 🤔

lol what a mess 🤯 this whole thing is just a total farce 🙄 like seriously can't we all just get along 😒 BLM's tactics are so dramatic and attention-seeking 📣 and the LAPD officials overreacted big time 👮‍♂️ they're just trying to do their job but everyone's so caught up in being "woke" 🤷‍♀️ and calling for people's heads on pikes 💀. and honestly can we talk about how ridiculous it is that Keith Porter's family is getting all this attention just because he was celebrating the start of a new year 🎉 who else has died over that? 😂 and what even is with the "Abolish Police" nonsense 🚫 like, what's next, abolishing hospitals? 🏥 or schools? 📚

omg this is so messed up 🤯 i mean what even is the point of having a meeting if you can't even have a meeting lol? like seriously though, it's just another example of how outta control things have gotten in la and america in general. like what's the plan here? are we gonna keep repeating this pattern over and over until something changes? i feel bad for teresa sánchez-gordon and the rest of the police commission members who were just trying to do their job, but at the same time i get why people are so angry about keith porter's death. it's just so tragic and senseless. 🙏

man this is so crazy 🤯 like what's going on with these protests? it's not just about one person's death anymore, it's about the whole system being messed up... I feel bad for the family but at the same time, can't we talk about this stuff without rioting 🤷‍♂️ the police have to do better, no doubt about it, but the protesters gotta calm down too... it's like they're trying to out-outrage each other 😒 and what's with all these different groups coming together? it's gonna get ugly if we don't figure some stuff out 🤔

I'm not buying that the cops are completely innocent here 🤔. I mean, we're not supposed to make assumptions about these situations, but if Porter was just celebrating New Year's Eve and didn't do anything wrong... why did he still get shot? 🤷‍♂️ It feels like a lot of people wanna jump on the bandwagon without all the facts.

I'm also not convinced that "abolish police" is the answer. I know it sounds extreme, but if we keep accusing the cops of everything and then expect them to just magically become better... it's gonna take time and training. Can't we just work with 'em instead of against each other? 🤝

I'm so divided rn 🤯🚔. On one hand, I get why Black Lives Matter is getting so upset about this case - it's just another example of how the system can be so messed up 🤕. But at the same time, I don't think it's cool that they're disrupting a meeting like that... it feels kinda like anarchy, you know? 😩 I mean, what's the goal here? Are we really gonna keep escalating tensions until someone gets hurt? 🚫

I'm all about accountability and justice, but sometimes I feel like BLM is getting its message lost in the noise of protests and chaos 🔊. Can't they just find a more constructive way to make their voices heard? 🤔 It's like, imagine if we were in Stranger Things - you know, when Eleven is trying to take down the bad guy? You'd want her to have a solid plan, right? 😂 This whole thing feels kinda like that.

I'm gettin' really worried about where this is all goin' 🤯... I remember when protests were about changin' the system for good, not just causin' a scene and disruptin' meetings 😬. Back in my day, we used to have real conversations with our leaders and try to find solutions that worked for everyone. Nowadays, it seems like things are gettin' more heated by the minute 🔥... I'm all for standin' up for what's right, but can't we do it without losin' our cool and puttin' people at risk? 😕 It's just not the way it should be 🤔.

🤬 OMG I am so done with these protests already! Can't they just let the people in charge do their jobs? I mean, come on, a guy gets killed by an ICE agent and suddenly everyone's all about "abolish the police"? Like, isn't that just a fancy way of saying we don't want to follow the law anymore? 🤷‍♂️ It's not fair to the officers who are trying to do their jobs. And what's with these protesters wearing "F–k the police" t-shirts? Are they really that entitled? 😡

omg this is so frustrating 🤯 i mean i totally get why people are upset about keith porter's death, but this protest went too far 💔 it feels like the bLM group was more interested in causing chaos than actually getting justice for porter's family. and what's up with the "fuck the police" shirts? isn't that just gonna fuel the exact problem they're trying to solve? 🤷‍♀️ at the same time, i do think there needs to be accountability for the guy who killed porter... the story doesn't add up and it feels like he was pushed into a situation where he got shot. 🤔 anyway, i just wish we could have some more constructive ways to deal with our frustrations as a society 🙏

Ugh, can you believe this?! 🤯 Like, what even is going on here? These people are literally storming into a meeting like they own the place and shutting it down for their own agenda. I mean, sure, I get that people are upset about Keith Porter's death and all, but do they have to be so aggressive about it?! It's just another example of how far off base these Black Lives Matter protests have gone... 🤷‍♂️ I'm not saying the police aren't accountable for their actions, because they totally need to be held to a higher standard, but come on! Can't we just calm down and have a rational conversation about it?! The fact that BLM Los Angeles basically planned this whole thing out weeks in advance and knew exactly how to shut down the meeting is just... ugh. It's like they're more interested in being loud and obnoxious than actually finding solutions to the real issues at hand! 😤

Ugh, just saw this 😩... So the LAPD Commission meeting got totally taken over by BLM protesters, it's like they're not even listening to each other 🙄. One guy gets shot in an ICE agent's apartment and suddenly everyone's a riot expert? 🤷‍♂️ Porter's family is saying he was just celebrating New Year's Eve, but the police are saying he fired a rifle into the air... it's all so confusing 🤯. And now there are calls for the ICE agent to be arrested, which is already sparking some intense debate about police accountability and safety 😬. Just when you think protests can't get any more heated, they do 💥. This whole thing feels like a bigger mess than just one guy getting shot... 🤕

Ugh 🤯 I dont think its right that ppl are literally taking over a meeting and scaring everyone off tho 😬 Im not saying the cops didn't do something wrong here, but is this really the best way to get justice for Keith Porter's family? It feels like its just gonna create more problems 🤔
