Board Is Tabletop Tablet Gaming—but With Physical Pieces

A new player has entered the market with a twist on traditional gaming - Board, a tabletop tablet that combines physical pieces with touchscreen technology. The device boasts a 24-inch display and powerful built-in speakers, but its size and weight make it more of a centerpiece for your dining table than a portable gaming option.

The game selection is where Board truly shines, featuring a diverse lineup of games that cater to various tastes and skill levels. From arcade shooters to strategy games, there's something for everyone. The physical pieces add an engaging tactile element to the gameplay experience. For instance, the game "Chop Chop" requires players to use physical cleavers to deliver orders in a digital restaurant setting.

However, it's worth noting that while Board is innovative, its launch titles lack the addictive hook that many gamers crave. Additionally, some users may find the device too big and cumbersome to store, especially with long cables creating tripping hazards. The game library also seems limited at present, with only 12 free games available, although more are promised in 2026.

Despite these concerns, Board does have its advantages. The touchscreen technology allows for smooth gameplay, even with multiple fingers and pieces moving simultaneously. This feature alone sets it apart from traditional gaming options. Furthermore, the device's openness to developer access and homebrew projects holds promise for future updates and expansions.

The question remains whether Board can carve out a niche in the crowded gaming market. At $700, it's certainly an investment worth considering for those looking for a unique gaming experience. However, without more substantial game libraries and online multiplayer capabilities, Board may struggle to justify its high price tag.

I don’t usually comment but I have to say that 24-inch display on this thing is crazy! I mean, it's great for those big group gatherings or parties but try taking it on the go? Forget about it 🙅‍♂️ It's like they thought "younger gamers" would be fine with carrying around a brick. And $700?! That's just out of reach for most casual gamers... or me 😳 I don’t know if I'd want to drop that kind of cash on something that might not even get the games I want. Maybe it’s time to revisit the price point after they add more titles, though 🤔

omg this board thingy is so cool! 🤩 i mean who needs to be stuck indoors playing games on their phone or computer when you can have the whole dining table as your gaming space? lol it's like a big ol' table and chair combo... my kids would love this tho, we're all about playing board games together as a family anyway. the games they've got so far look super fun, especially chop chop that one sounds hilarious! 🤣 but $700 is a bit steep for me, i mean i love gaming too but it's gotta be worth it for the price. hopefully they come out with more games soon and online multiplayer options tho... that would take it from 8/10 to 11/10 in my book 😊

omg this thing is gonna be a collector's item on ebay within a year lol its 700 bucks and they dont even have enough games to make it worth playing? like whats the point of having a tablet that can do everything except maybe play pokemon? and dont even get me started on how big and clunky it looks like my grandma could use it as a makeshift dinner plate. i mean, who buys this thing?

omg u gotta think about whats really goin on here... board is prob just another way to get ppl hooked on them touchscreens & stuff before they realize its all just a controlled market setup 🤑👀 think about it, 12 free games in launch? thats not enough for the gamers who are already invested. and what about the game library in 2026? thats just a trap to keep us buyin into their hype cycle... plus, that price tag of $700 is like, waaay too much for a novelty device 🤑

I'm not sure if I'm stoked or skeptical about this new board thingy 🤔. On one hand, it's dope that they've got all these sick games lined up - who wouldn't wanna try out Chop Chop and chop down virtual orders? 🍴 But, on the other hand, $700 seems like a pretty steep price to pay for something that's still kinda limited in its game selection and online multiplayer capabilities. I mean, I'm all about innovation and stuff, but can they really make it rain with more games and features before 2026? ⛈️ Also, isn't the whole physical piece thing gonna be a pain to clean and store? 😂

OMG u guyz! I pre-ordered this thingy called "Board" and OMG it's so cool! 🤩 I was skeptical at first 'cause I thought it'd be too big & heavy 2 carry around, but once I set it up, I fell in love w/ the game selection 🎮! I mean, who wouldn't wanna play a game where u literally use physical cleavers to deliver food in a digital restaurant? 😂 My fave so far is this one called "Chop Chop" - it's like a mix of strategy & timing. But yeah, I do wish there were more games available... 12 free ones just isn't enough 🤦‍♀️. And maybe the price tag could be lower 🤑, but overall, Board feels like an awesome investment for gamers who wanna try something new 🎉!

I'm a bit skeptical about this new Board thingy 🤔... I mean, it sounds like some cool stuff, but $700 is a pretty big ask for me. And yeah, 12 free games out of the gate isn't gonna cut it - where's the depth? For me, it's gotta be more than just "oh hey, this looks kinda fun" 🎮. I wanna dive in and get lost in a game, not just play something that's gonna be over in an hour. Plus, tripping hazards from long cables? No thanks! 😂 Can't have that in my gaming setup...

I'm loving the concept of Board, but I gotta say, I'm a bit meh on the price point 🤔. $700 is a lot of cash for a device that's mostly just a centerpiece for your dining table 🍴. Don't get me wrong, it sounds like a blast playing games with physical pieces and touchscreen tech 🎮, but if it's not gonna offer more than just a novelty experience, I'm not sure it's worth the investment 💸.

I'm also kinda worried about the storage situation - 12 free games and that's it? 🤯 What kind of updates and expansions are we talking about in 2026? And online multiplayer capabilities? That sounds like a major selling point to me 📊. I mean, I love the idea of homebrew projects too, but if it's not gonna be more than just a hobby for devs, what's the point? 💭

Still, I'm excited to see where Board goes from here and whether they can make it a legit gaming option 🎉. Maybe with some tweaks to the game library and pricing, we'll see a loyal player base form 💖.

lol what's up with the name "Board" tho? like, literally just a piece of wood on your dining table... 🤣 anyway, I'm kinda intrigued by this thing, but at $700 it better bring its A game (or at least, its A game library). physical pieces in games sound like a blast, but those long cables are just asking to be tripped over. and 12 free games? come on, that's not even a starter pack for most gamers 🙄 still, the touchscreen tech does seem cool, maybe they'll surprise us with more content soon 💻

Ugh, I'm so over how clunky the website is 🤦‍♂️... I mean, who needs all that unnecessary scrolling just to read about a new gaming device? And can we please get rid of those annoying pop-ups? Anyway, back to Board - yeah, it's definitely a cool idea, but 12 free games out of the box? That's pretty underwhelming. I think what really sets it apart is the physical pieces, though. I mean, chopping up virtual food with real cleavers sounds like a blast 😂.

But for real, if they want to make this thing take off, they need to step up their game library and online multiplayer capabilities. $700 is a pretty steep price tag, especially considering how limited it feels right now. Still, I'm intrigued by the developer access and homebrew projects - that could be some interesting stuff... but can we just get a more streamlined website experience? 🤪

I mean... 24 inches is kinda big, but I guess that's part of the charm? It feels like something outta an old-school arcade, you know? But at the same time, it's also super clunky and would never fit in my bag or anything 🤷‍♂️. I do love the idea of physical pieces, though - there's something satisfying about using a real piece of cardboard as a "power-up" in a game 😊. But $700? That's just crazy talk! Can't they see that most gamers are all about those mobile games and online multiplayer, you feel me? Still, I gotta admit, the game selection does look pretty cool... maybe Board can carve out its own niche, but for now, it's just a big ol' novelty 🤪

I think Board is gonna be a cool gadget, but I'm not sure if it's worth the hype yet 😐. The idea of physical pieces and touchscreen tech is genius, but I'm still on the fence about how much fun I'll have playing games like "Chop Chop". And $700 is a pretty steep price tag, especially when you gotta consider the storage space it'll take up at home 📦. Still, I do love that developers can access it and create their own stuff, that's where the magic happens for me 👊
