I'm like totally stoked about this new study on bonobos!
They've basically taught a bonobo named Kanzi to play make-believe, just like human kids do
. I mean, we already knew they're super smart and all, but this is like, whoa!
The fact that they can distinguish between real and imaginary objects is mind-blowing
.
This study makes me wonder, when did humans start doing make-believe? Was it always a thing or was it something our ancestors picked up along the way?
And what's even crazier is that this ability might've been present in our common ancestor with bonobos like 6-9 million years ago!
That's just wild, fam
. We need to keep exploring the neural mechanisms behind imaginative thinking in humans and non-humans, that's some next-level science
