Burnley 2-2 Tottenham: Cristian Romero's last-gasp goal spares under-pressure Spurs boss Thomas Frank's blushes

Tottenham Hotspur escaped a potentially embarrassing defeat at Turf Moor with an 80th-minute equaliser, snatching a 2-2 draw against Burnley and sparing under-pressure boss Thomas Frank's blushes. The defender Cristian Romero scored his third goal in as many games, extending the Clarets' winless league run to 14 games.

Frank's side failed to build on the momentum of Tuesday's Champions League home win over Borussia Dortmund, and remained winless in the Premier League this season. Tottenham now sit eight points above the drop zone but face a daunting February ahead with crucial matches against Manchester City, Manchester United, Newcastle and Arsenal.

Burnley, who looked on course for their first win since October, fell victim to another late goal from Spurs. Substitute Lyle Foster's 74th-minute goal had given Burnley the lead after Axel Tuanzebe had cancelled out Micky van de Ven's opener at half-time.

The full-time whistle was greeted with boos from the away fans as Frank walked off, who taunted 'You're getting sacked in the morning'. Spurs supporters also chanted 'We want Frank out', highlighting their discontent with the manager's performance.

Frank acknowledged that his side should have won the game, praising the players for great character but stating that they need to turn draws into wins. Burnley boss Scott Parker was more optimistic about his team's prospects, saying they just fell short in a match where they looked like a team lacking confidence and resilience.

The draw marked Tottenham's sixth goalless Premier League match this season.

idk what's goin on wit spurs fam ๐Ÿคฏ they've got the talent but dey just can't seem to put it all together, u feel me? they keep drawin games like dis and it's gettin old. frank's gotta do somethin diff 'cos dey need to start buildin on dem chances not just settle for a draw every time ๐Ÿ™„ Burnley's got heart but dey ain't exactly lightin up the league rn. scott parker's right, dem shoulda won dat one ๐Ÿ˜’ and frank's gotta step up his game or it's gonna be a long season...

man what a game lol burnley was lookin so good in the first 2nd half but cristian romero comes outta nowhere and scores the equaliser ๐Ÿคฏ i feel bad for thomas frank tho, he's gotta deal with all these booing fans now ๐Ÿ™…โ€โ™‚๏ธ but honestly i think spurs just need to buckle down and start winin some games 8 points above the drop zone is still a ways off from safety so they gotta step up their game ๐Ÿ’ช burnley's run of no wins is crazy tho, hope scott parker can get them turnt around soon ๐Ÿคž

๐Ÿ˜… 80th minute goals are the best! I'm loving Cristian Romero's form right now ๐Ÿคฉ. But seriously, Spurs need to get that win and stop being so inconsistent. Draw after draw is not getting us closer to anything. And I gotta say, Burnley looks like a team that needs a wake-up call โš ๏ธ. Parker's optimism is cool, but they need to prove it in the next match. Meanwhile, Frank's under pressure for sure... those chants from the crowd were quite harsh ๐Ÿ˜ณ. Guess you can't blame 'em after that performance ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

Ugh, what a frustrating result for Spurs fans ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. I mean, you'd think that with 80 minutes to go and 2-1 down, they'd be able to hold on, but nope... they had to go and concede another goal at the last minute. It's like they're begging to lose these games ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. And don't even get me started on the fans' chants towards Frank - it's just not fair ๐Ÿ™„. The guy's doing his best under pressure and this is how the fans react? I feel sorry for him, really ๐Ÿค•. Burnley's performance wasn't much better, to be honest... they looked like they were lacking confidence and resilience, but hey, at least they got a draw out of it ๐Ÿ˜.

I feel so bad for Thomas Frank ๐Ÿ˜ž. One minute he's on top of the world with that Champions League win, next thing you know he's being booed off by his own fans ๐Ÿค•. It's like they're putting all the pressure on him now. I get it, draws aren't wins, but some frustration is understandable โšฝ๏ธ. Frank's a great coach, he should be proud of how far the team's come ๐Ÿ’ช. Burnley just had one of those games where everything went right... until it didn't ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. It's gonna be tough for both teams now, especially with all these big matches coming up in Feb ๐Ÿ“†. Can't wait to see how they bounce back! ๐Ÿ™

omg u guys burnley is having the worst season ever ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ at least cristian romero is scoring some goals for spurs lol 80th minute equalizer is like the ultimate come from behind win ๐Ÿ’ฅ i feel bad for thomas frank tho, he's under a lot of pressure and now the fans are booing him off the pitch ๐Ÿ˜ฌ maybe he needs to shake things up or get a new assistant coach ๐Ÿค”

Man I'm telling you, Spurs are having one of the toughest seasons in their history ๐Ÿคฏ. They're struggling to find consistency on the pitch and it's not just about Thomas Frank, he's under pressure because the team isn't delivering ๐Ÿ”ฅ. Burnley, on the other hand, looks like a team that's just going through the motions ๐Ÿ˜. They need to figure out what's not working and make some changes. For Spurs, they need to start winning games and turning draws into wins ๐Ÿ†. It's not looking good for Frank if he can't get his team over the finish line, but I still think he'll be around next season โฐ. The big question is how long will it take for them to turn things around? ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Ugh ๐Ÿ˜ฉ I know Spurs fans are hyped for that equalizer but also kinda disappointed at the same time ๐Ÿค”. Like, Frank should've built on that momentum from their Champions League win and now they're back to square one... again ๐Ÿ’ฏ. Burnley's team looks really lost right now, and I'm not sure how they can turn it around ๐Ÿšจ. As for Frank, he needs to get those wins ASAP or the fans will be getting restless ๐Ÿ”ฅ. And btw, 14 games without a win? That's a pretty long drought ๐Ÿ˜…. Need some serious team chemistry fixes ๐Ÿค.

man... i feel for Thomas Frank ๐Ÿ˜ฉ he's under so much pressure with those big games coming up and now the fans are already turning on him ๐Ÿค” it's like they're not even giving him a chance to prove himself. Burnley, on the other hand, is just trying to stay afloat ๐ŸŒŠ but Parker's optimism is good to hear maybe he can turn things around? ๐Ÿคž the fact that Spurs couldn't build on that momentum from Tuesday's win over Dortmund is worrying though โฐ they need to sort out their consistency if they wanna make a push for the top 4... or else ๐Ÿ”ฅ

man what's goin on with Spurs? they got so close to gettin that win but fell apart at the end ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ. i'm startin to think they need a change in strategy not just the manager ๐Ÿ˜ฌ. burnley was lookin alright till that last min goal, it's like they just gave up on themselves โฐ. can't say i blame the fans for bein upset though, 8 points above the drop zone is nothin' if you ain't gettin wins ๐Ÿ’”

๐Ÿค” I'm left wondering, is it possible to truly 'escape' the consequences of our actions? ๐ŸŒŠ In this case, it was Cristian Romero who scored the equalizer at 80 minutes, but what if Burnley had held on just a bit longer? Would they have been able to turn their season around? Meanwhile, Tottenham's fans are left with more questions than answers... is this a sign that the team needs a change in leadership, or just another example of how momentum can be so fleeting? ๐Ÿ’ญ What does it say about us as spectators when we're cheering for someone to get fired, yet still invested in their performance? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

OMG, what a save by Spurs!!! ๐Ÿ˜ I'm literally dying of excitement! Cristian Romero is on fire ๐ŸŽฏ๐Ÿ”ฅ! Can't believe he scored that last-minute equaliser to save Frank's blushes...again ๐Ÿ™ˆ. 2-2 draw against Burnley is like, a win in my book ๐Ÿ’ช!

I know some fans are saying "Frank out", but I don't get it ๐Ÿ˜‚. He's just having a bad patch, you know? Thomas Frank is still the best manager for Spurs in my opinion ๐Ÿ™Œ! And Scott Parker should be worried about his team's performance... Burnley looked like they were going to win that game for real ๐Ÿ’ฅ!

Tottenham is on fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ this season, and we're gonna make it to the top 4 no problem ๐Ÿ’ช! Bring on Manchester City, United, Newcastle and Arsenal... we're ready for you ๐Ÿ™„!

omg u guys espn lol tottenham literally cant catch a break!! ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ i know frank's under pressure but still gotta feel 4 him he showed great heart & character but that 2nd half was straight trash ๐Ÿšฎ burnley looked so much better than spurs esp in the 1st half lol cristian romero tho, what a goal boy!!! ๐Ÿ˜ tottenham sittin pretty at 8 pts above the drop zone but man, feb ahead got some serious challenges comin' @ man city & man u & newcastle & arsenal ๐Ÿคฏ anyway, frank just gotta keep it up & we'll be good 2 go ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Wow ๐Ÿคฏ Burnley's winless streak is crazy long! 14 games without a win is a massive struggle for any team, especially with the pressure of being near the relegation zone. The Spurs fans are getting pretty vocal about Frank's performance too... Interesting ๐Ÿ˜

omg i cant believe tottenham dodged that bullet AGAIN! 80th minute equalizer from cristian romero was pure drama ๐Ÿคฏ it just shows how unpredictable the premier league can be every single week, but frank needs to figure out why his team keeps drawing these games instead of winning them ๐Ÿค” theyre still in a good position in the table but those february matches are gonna be super tough ๐Ÿ’ช man city, united, newcastle and arsenal all waiting for them, let's see how spurs handle that pressure ๐Ÿคฏ

omg like can u believe that spurs drew again lol? i mean i know they're doing ok but 6 goalless premier league matches this season is just insane ๐Ÿคฏ๐Ÿ˜‚... anyways, i think thomas frank needs to step up his game bc his team isn't exactly getting the results they deserve. and burnley's struggles are so relatable u feel? like, how many of us have had a math test where we're all hyped for our exam but still get a 50% on it lol... anywayz, spurs now face some tough matches ahead & hopefully frank can turn those draws into wins ๐Ÿ‘

Ugh, Spurs got another dodgy result ๐Ÿ™„... 2-2 against Burnley? That's just great for Frank's job security ๐Ÿ˜‚... all that hype from Tuesday's Champions League win and now what? The draw is a huge letdown and it's gonna be tough to keep the momentum going with those tough matches coming up ๐Ÿ’”... Manchester City, Man Utd, Newcastle, Arsenal... 8 points above the drop zone, yeah right ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ... Burnley's been on a winless streak for ages, hope they can get out of it ๐Ÿ‘€... Spurs supporters are already talking about Frank getting sacked, that's just awful ๐Ÿ’”

OMG ๐Ÿคฏ just watched that game ๐Ÿ˜ฑ and Spurs are really struggling right now ๐Ÿค”. 14 games without a win is crazy ๐Ÿ˜จ. Frank's gotta step up his game ASAP ๐Ÿ’ช or the fans will keep booing him ๐Ÿšซ. Burnley looked shaky but still gave it a good go ๐Ÿ’ฅ. That late equalizer was insane! โฐ Meanwhile, Spurs have to take on City & United and that's gonna be a nightmare ๐Ÿ˜จ๐Ÿ’”. Need to get some wins under their belt ASAP or risk being stuck in the drop zone ๐Ÿšจ. Can't wait for the next match! ๐Ÿ˜…

omg what a rollercoaster of emotions for those tottenham fans lol 1 point above the drop zone is defo better than being in the red, but still gotta wonder if thomas frank is getting his sack soon ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜ฌ i mean, burnley's team looked super tired and lacking confidence, so u gotta give credit to spurs for coming back from behind ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ anyway, let's hope frank can turn those draws into wins ASAP, esp with those big matches comin' up in feb ๐Ÿ“†๐Ÿ’ฅ
